Carlos blinked curiously at Adrian, who was acting out of character from what the unicat knew about him. Unsure what to make of it, he sat down on the couch without checking the fridge first.

Adrian walked back to the living room, now wearing a pair of black pants and a black tank top, with his hair out of the braids and ribbons. "Did you not want anything to drink?" He asked as he sat down in a chair across from the couch.

He watched the rat return, then sit across from him instead of on the couch. Not surprising but a little disappointing, he found Adrian had taken out his braids. "Nope, I'm fine," he said, feeling awkward and bouncing a little in his seat.

"Well, would you like anything to eat or something?" The rat was new to the whole entertaining guests thing. "Is there any other reason you came here today?"

"Er, no - to both..." the unicat said, tail waving a little behind him. He had left home needing nothing like that. "But since I'm here, I want to know how it's been going for you."

"Okay." The rat shrugged. "It's been rough, but it's getting better, I guess. I don't know. What about you? Any new friends or anything?"

"I'm glad you're doing better," the unicat smiled, "maybe it will take some more time before you know for sure, but I think you look better..." He tilted his head a little, studying the rat for a moment. At the very least he wasn't storming around like Carlos was used to seeing... not that he was used to seeing him outside of the shop, or more recently back home.
Hopping lightly to his feet, Carlos crossed over the distance between them and crouched down before Adrian, peering up at him. He laced his fingers together over one of the rat's knees and rested his chin there. "I met a couple people recently... by accident actually. But they seem nice."
(( ...and he's not going to be able to talk in detail about them right now because those RPs are in-progress, though I have a general idea where they're going. xD <3 ))

"That's good, you making friends." Adrian petted the top of Carlos' head. He had missed the feeling of the unicat being close. The rat realized what he was doing and pulled back, also unlaced their hands. "We can't do that anymore."

Carlos nudged the other's hand with his head as it petted him, a purely feline response. He blinked as Adrian unlaced his hands; he was only leaning on his knee... did it hurt that much? "Can't do what?"

"We can't hold hands, we can't be close, not anymore," Adrian said to Carlos. Getting close again wouldn't be good for either of them.

"That's not the point though, because I'm already here!" He pulled out the card, smiling faintly at it before flattening out the creases and showing it to Adrian. "What is this? Explain to me why you do stuff like this if you're trying to push me away!" He shook his head and threw it on the floor at Adrian's feet. It was painful to look at, if Adrian was just going to kick him out again. "I'm really not the smartest person on the block. I don't get stuff. So explain to me why you keep jerking me around! Because as far as I can see... I love you." He glared defiantly up at Adrian. It was true. "I am pretty sure you love me! Or are you just playing with me?"
"And, and... you were going to work on your temper. I know you probably need more time... maybe a lot more... But I'm not totally stupid. I know you could have hurt me as badly as Horea..."
He looked at the floor, trying desperately not to cry. That would ruin everything. "So... I don't care what they are going to let me do... I want to know... Do you believe... it will work?"
