Yeah, unless they're emergency eggs, one should be restricted to posting one's own eggs in the eggspam thread. I admit that it's tiring seeing people have a dozen or more eggs/ hatchlings in their post, only a few of which are their own. Especially ones where people have several eggs that they abandoned from a breeding that are still at 6.5+ days. There's a line between saving offspring and raising someone else's eggs without even giving them a chance to do so on their own stare

serene38: Yes, emergency eggs wouldn't have to wait. But emergency walkers still can't end up posting 4-5 times a page, so they'll still have some limits.

Azshanna: The only problem with even more restrictions is that it's hard to keep an eggspam topic completely ordered while also keeping it eggspam. While we don't want to click the same eggs over and over again, I also don't want it to turn into a topic with completely different eggs each page. Eggspam is a place to, spam eggs, so while we want some order, we need more spam. I don't want it to deviate too much from what it was made for...
Also, eggspam is a place specified for eggspam. A place that people can freely spam their eggs without getting into any trouble. I'm sure a lot of people come exclusively to eggspam for their eggspam. I don't think there are too many places like that out there...
Another problem that arises with longer restrictions is a possible decline in activity. It's ridiculously fast now, but I don't want to end up cutting it down to the point where it's no longer efficient. I think 2 pages maximum would ease some of the craziness, but not cut it down too much.
Sorry for the longish response. XP A lot of things came to mind.

And also: it's always 15 posts per page, no matter how large or small they are. There could be 15 posts with 100 eggs each, or 15 posts with 1 egg each. Size doesn't change the limit. But I do agree that people should post them horizontally; especially the Mother's Brother's etc. people. It's kind of annoying when they take up half the page and have less dragons than the person under them.

Zephire:
Yes, another reason we don't want too many restrictions. Waiting could be a pain in low traffic time.
And for emergency eggs, I'd generally expand it to <2 days. Less than two days is pretty critical as it is. If they don't have many hits yet, they need all the hits they can get.
And like you said, emergency status doesn't mean they get to spam the entire topic more than everyone else. As you said, they'd probably get about 2-3 posts a page.

dakki-dono: While it's annoying to click people's step-sister's cousin's friends' neighbor's gardener's abandoned eggs (and trust me, I know; I have to add them to the sanct wink ), it's also kinda hard to deny them. While spamming them at 7 days is kinda unnecessary, I don't think they deserve to be punished or denied. I'm sure the person's cousin's gardener's etc. will be glad when their eggs hatch earlier than they had planned (or survive if they were going to die).

I also have gotten the snaplinks add-on to FireFox, which lets you open multiple tabs at once. It's made clicking a ton easier. I've almost been thinking about making a sticky for it, but there isn't an official one for FF3, so I don't want to sticky a fishy/weird site. sad

Tweezle: we've discussed making second things for certain topics/sections of the guild, and decided against it. Making a second one just makes it less likely to get hits for either; as people will probably not look at the second one, or many people will go to the second and not look at the first. Having them clumped together is just more efficient. Thanks for trying, though, at least.

Oh yes! I forgot about the vertical posting thing. I try to make sure I use a space, not a line between my eggs. Even if it does not change the number of posts on a page it makes it much harder to easily scroll though. I don't mind the addition of eggs besides your own, but it is annoying to spam them for the sake of spam when they are just gotten and all the views actually make it sick. I walk my guild's dragon, to get in the group your egg/hatchling has to be 3.5 days or less. Occasionally we add up to 3.9. As for page restrictions, when the egg spam thread is at peak times then one post every 2 or three is fine. When it drops so that barely a page goes by in an hour, then people spamming emergency eggs can post once every page.

Loku: I just find myself skipping over their entire post in favor for those looking out for only themselves anymore.

dying eggs are one thing, but when you have 6 damn lines with 1-6 eggs/dragons each all with 5-6 days and COMPLAIN that not all of them are getting clicks, it gets really obnoxious.

The responses make sense and it isn't too much of a headache, I end up skipping after I've clicked a few times anyhow just so that I have time to click more eggs. I'm one who likes to go ALL the way to my last post not just to the top of the page I posted my last entry on.

But, again... it's all good. the responses make sense and some limit would be a nice addition because most people just end up yelling at the poster anyhow.

I posted an agreement to this as well and I have to admit *blushes* when I first started posting I did a long line DOWN hehe then after a while of clicking I realized how much harder it makes it for me to click the eggs and not take -all- night.

Sounds as a good rule. I cannot keep up myself with that eggspam-thread, too many posts in one day.

mm.....Just had a thought about those of us who post multiple dragons at a time. Mine are always from my guild, I don't just collect up random eggs and bring them here. Maybe a list for the mods to check of people who do guild posts so that if people complain you can refer to it and say "No, this person is guild affiliated and is allowed to post that many dragons at one time."

I'm definitely all for it!
I've been wanting to say something to the people that do, but didn't want to sound rude. =
I only post mine twice a day, and that's only because it moves 100 pages in between. o_o; Clicking between my posts has become an hour long process. D=
