'She was a little bit, but by then it was my name, and I was quite a stubborn filly and didn't answer to anything else.' Marut grinned.

'So I got a male name, and I've kinda grown up, well. I'm not girly, and I don't really care about if my mane and tail are perfectly groomed.'
she shook out her tail, it had gotten even wavier and bigger now it was almost dry.
'I guess you can tell that though?' she laughed.

'Yeah, you fast? Lets race, we'll see how fast you are!' she threw the challenge out with a wink, shifting her weight from hoof to hoof. Standing and chatting for ages wasn't really her thing either, gossip was for those who had nothing else to do!

"I'd probably be the same if I was in that situation." Klei smirked. Though for him it'd be more of that he'd refuse to go by a different name solely out of spite. They made the mistake and they'd have to live with it. Either that or he just wouldn't care about the name change.

"Yeah that I can tell." He replied with a chuckle. He noticed her tail became a lot fuller now that it had time to dry. He began to wonder if her mane would change as well.

"What was that?!" Klei demanded. "We'll see how fast I am? I think we'll be seeing how fast you are!" Marut was serious. She really seemed antsy to race. How she said it and that wink of hers stirred the fire in Klei's belly, which made him adjust his hind legs footing and tail flick. She seemed pretty sure of herself and that attitude made Klei want proof to back that up. She asked for a race and that's just what she's going to get! He watched as she bounced back and forth. Answering her gesture with a smirk and eyes of a stallion that was ready to take off at any moment. "You want a race? Well you got one!"

The challenge was made and accepted, all that's left are the details. Though, like all challenges a slight doubt crossed his mind. Would he be able to back up what he claims?

'I know right?' Marut shook her mane, which had gone into slight frizz, the waves falling around her neck, and her fringe into her eyes - again.

'For gawds sake,' she muttered, giving her head a hard flick upwards.
'Staaaaay.' she scolded her fringe, rolling her eyes upwards to try and glare at it.

'You will, you'll be watching my butt as I finish ahead of you.' Marut grinned, eyes twinkling with delight. He wanted to race! Oh it was a long time since she'd gotten anyone to race with her, other than when she was racing the wind for fun.

'Good! Let's see..'
Well, where they were was perfect really. They stood near a particularly large weeping willow, and she nodded at it.
'How does a race around the Lake sound? First one back to that willow wins.'

"Oh will I? I think you'll be the one watching my butt finish ahead of you." Klei countered with a grin and an eyebrow raise.

Klei looked at his surroundings as Marut spoke. "I say whatever you're comfortable with, I'm game!" he answered back as he looked at the starting point. He'd race anywhere the challenger chose. If he didn't quite like the area that didn't matter. He'd try to prove himself no matter where he was. He trotted over, tail flicking happily, and aligned himself along the willow as if there was a starting line drawn on the ground.

Looking down at the ground Klei lightly tapped the tip of his front hooves on the ground, making tiny indentations in the dirt, which he then shook himself off. He was pumped and ready! "I'm ready when you are."

Marut laughed;
'Yeah, yeah! We'll see,' she replied, pawing at the ground next to him, her tail flicking behind her and she shoved her fringe back hard again so it wouldn't be in her sight when they set off.

She looked ahead of him, mentally going over the route, checking for anything in the immediate area that would cause her to trip or slow and then looked back at Klei.

'Alright then.' she felt her legs tingling in anticipation, almost feeling herself flying along the ground already.
'On your marksss. Get set..' she paused slightly, nodding her head.
'Go!'
Her back hooves dug hard into the ground on her shouted 'Go' and she sprung forwards, getting up speed in the first few yards, her mane and tail now streaming in her wake.

Klei looked back at Marut and nodded his head before she said Go. He was ready to do this! His ears were wide opened and pointed tall listing for that small, two letter word that gets your heart pounding.

At the sound of the go Klei's reaction and movements were almost identical to Marut's. His back legs tightened and hooves pressed into the ground, he also sprung himself forwards. The sudden thrust forward forced his mane back with his tail following as he shot off. His tail twirled behind him as he ran. During the start of the race his strides were a bit shorter then usual but as the two got further away from the starting point his strides lengthened. His speed gradually increased with every stride. Piercing blue eyes followed the "track" in front of him eying anything that might trip him while also making sure to keep in mind the curving of the lake.

Klei just hoped at this point all his casual running would pay off.

Marut enjoyed racing so much - almost as much as play-fighting but this was close. The pounding of your hooves on the ground, the wind in mane and tail, and the stretch of the well-honed muscles in her legs. Of course, running on your own was fun, but racing made you push yourself, competing against another made you strive to be good at all you could do.

For a while Klei was a little behind her, she could hear his breathing and the thud thud of his hooves. As she reached the farthest curve of the Lake, pretty much opposite to the start and ending point of the race, she knew he was on her heels. She chanced a look, and stumbled slightly, losing her stride for a moment.

Klei, being naturally built larger and longer, ran along the outer side of the track they created. His legs were able to carry himself the extra distance it took for him to round the turn as the lake curved. Since he was behind Marut he was able to keep an eye on her speed and movements. Though it didn't help in the case of a sudden fault.

He pretty much looked forward as to where he was running towards but her turning back caught his eye. His eyes met with hers as he noticed the slight change in movement but when she stumbled he nearly ran into her. That's how close he was behind her; not nearly far enough to be able to react and dodge her stumble. Instead of bending as the lake did, and as he intended, he had to continue straight to avoid a collision. After a few, unfortunately long strides, away from the bend he ended up taking the turn really wide.

His original thought was to try and cut the turn to pass in front of Marut but that plan wasn't too promising at this point. Klei was enjoying himself none-the-less. He also thought that having someone or something there to challenge your abilities was all the greater.

(( I just suddenly realised how my last post sounded, hope you didn't think I was god-modding Klei at all? ^_^; I figured he would be wanting to give a good race after their little back n forth before the race heh ))

Marut realised her stumble must have caused Klei to veer off the track, she hadn't thought he was so very close on her heels! She felt a slight twinge in her left knee, but pushed it away and concentrated on regaining the ground she had lost.

She caught sight of Klei again, but this time didn't turn so much to check where he was, grinning to herself as she kept as near to the bank of the Lake as was possible without falling down the slight incline, she was almost across the top end and now was heading in a slow curve back to the finish line.

((Oh no not at all. XD I never thought you were god modding. :3 Yeah but knowing him he'd end up tripping over someone during his own thoughts during the race. XDD Plus all is not lost since he'll try and catch up with all his might anyway.))

Klei watched as Marut stayed close to the lake's edge. "Stealing my plan are you?" he said aloud and to himself at the same time. His ears flattened against his head as he made a forcefully thrust forwards, picking up speed once more. At this point his chances of winning the race grew slim and he very well knew that but be that the case he wasn't going to let himself loose by much.

So with those thoughts in mind he concentrated on getting as close to Marut as he possibly could. His tail streamed straighter behind him this time due to his speed not allowing it to sway or twirl. He flicked his head down then with a quick upward jolt which caused his goggles to slide over his eyes. With the world now purple again he made sure his strides were long and strong enough to carry him the distance he now desperately needed to gain. Klei put the rest of the race all on his legs.

His breathing grew heavier and quicker as he forced himself to catch up to Marut.

Marut grinned, and called back;
'It's just common sense!' this time not turning at all to look at him, having learned that lesson the painful way. Her knee still continued to hurt, even more so now that she was pushing herself towards the finish line, but her competitive streak was on a high and she was determined to win.

She heard his breathing again, and this spurred her on, her hooves drumming hard and fast against the grass, tail whipping behind her as she turned down along the Lake, the tall weeping willow now in view again.

'Made..it!' she gasped, tearing past the tree, and sliding to an undignified halt that ended with her falling in a heap on the ground.

Klei seemed to manage to get about one and a half strides behind Marut as she crossed the finish line. The speed of the two Soquili caused the willow to blow to the side as they both passed it. The race was finally over. His muscles were finally granted the relaxation they really needed. They just had to wait a little bit longer.

Of course he was a bit annoyed that he didn't win but grew even more so at the fact how he lost to a mare. He continued to run past Marut as she stopped. He had problems when it came to stopping short. It's not that he couldn't do it it's mainly that he ends up messing up his legs after he does so. So to prevent hours of being uncomfortable or even some pain he prefers slowing down over bluntly stopping. Not saying that he doesn't do it though.

Klei continued to run forwards before arching to the side to make his was back. As he turned to face the area where he came from he noticed Marut on the ground. "And that's why I don't stop short." He said aloud as he slowed to a trot, with tail flicking from side to side. He came up in front of her and looked down at her. His heart was still pounding from the race they just finished. Along with his heart pounding his breathing was heavy to match.

"Are you ok?" Klei got out in between heavy pants.

When Marut had fallen in a heap, her mane had dropped completely over her face, obscuring it from few. Her sides heaved, her tail flicking on the ground, and it looked as though she were in a great deal of pain. Looks were deceiving in this case though, and she tossed the hair out of her face and grinned up at Klei, having a fit of giggles.

'Well I guess I'm bad at stopping eh?' she managed, in between her laughter. But she won! She crowed to herself, not wanting to be too obnoxious about her victory, as she knew from experience that the male ego could be fragile.

'That was a good race,' she said, getting up slowly, testing the leg that she'd hurt during the run. She bumped her nose against Klei's, grinning and nodded.

'Yeah I'm good,' she shook grass from her mane and looked at him.

'Ready for another race?' she joked. In truth she would need to give her leg at least a days rest otherwise she might do it worse damage. Rest and then gentle exercise would sort the pull out.

"It seems that you are. You really should find a better way of stopping. You're way seems painful." Klei answered back after he realized that Marut seemed to be fine. He knew though that she was probably in a bit of pain nonetheless.

"Yeah." Klei responded back about the race. He was still, and probably will always be, a bit sore about losing but he'll eventually get over it. His eye's widened as he got nose bumped. His goggles pretty much covered any emotion he might have showed which he was thankful for. Just another reason why he loves his goggles so much.

"Do you realize that's the second time you stumbled during this race? This time you lacked grace and actually fell." Klei added shortly after.

"Yeah, I'll race you again when you're healed up. I for one know that you had to have had pulled something back there. Plus you're little way of stopping most likely made that worse."

'You do know I was just showing off right?' Marut laughed, the action causing her mane to be disobedient and fall back down again.

'I don't normally finish a race like that, and as for the stumble during the race. Well yes, that was because I was checking on where you were.'

Did he actually think she was a big, clumsy lump of a mare or something? Feh, maybe he was just a sore loser. She hoped not though, and continued to smile at him.

'It probably did. I'll go for a swim tomorrow, exercising whilst being supported by the water really helps.' she gave a small nod, deciding that was what she would do.
'Did you want to do anything else then?'
