Dancer made a little face, *Oh that cat has lots to eat. He's just a pig. With all the fish Crosscurrent has gotten for him and the deer he ate before the storm he should be alright.* Her send was laughter and fun but then pulled back. Now she suddenly felt the need to be sure he was fine. The Fishy she cared for had been thought to be safe in the waters but still she should check. Her eyes looked back the way they came then at Blaze. *I know the jungle. I sort of know these woods. When we are through here I want to go to the beach. Come with if you like ok.* Then she turned back to the task at hand. *Normally I would scare things into Fire Brights jaws. Or he would do the same for me. We can decide what to do once we find something.* Now the send was more business with an undertone of worry for the unknown condition of the Fishy.

The orange-haired elf relaxed slightly, and he turned to look at Dancer as they walked. **Well then I will not worry, neither about tigers nor about finding game.** He was quiet for a while, then sent again. **And I would like to go to the beach, as long as the weather stays as nice as it is now. Although the water dries strangely and feels sticky.** He was pleased that the storm had decided to let up, the fact that everything was either slippery or soggy with water made up for by the warmpth of the sun.

He was in the process of humming a song he'd forgotten the words to when he suddenly stopped and stood tense, neck craned to see over the ferns better. **Did you hear that? It sounded like something grunted, or snuffled... Maybe it was just a tree moved by the wind.**

Dancer had been lost in thought. Her mind concerned about someone else when Blaze snapped her back to the moment. Instantly she froze where she stood for a heartbeat then lowered to peer through the brush. *I'll move off to the side and ahead of you. Then we can work together to get the kill if one is to be found ok?* She was soon lost in the undergrowth and gone. Now Blaze was left to the forest alone. To experience the smells, sounds and sights on his own until, *And don't touch anything unless you show it to me first.* Her send was teasing at him but still held seriousness to it. She didn't want to watch him be sick or something worse.

The firestarter nodded, eyes fixed on the general area that the noise had emanated from. **If you can keep it one place, I can kill it.** He began feeling about for the wisps of heat from the sunlight, the familiar feel of their power exciting him as he wound them tight. Normally he would never have risked his magic in an area with so much fuel for fear of a wildfire, but the sodden earth beneath his feet told him there was no risk. He returned her teasing comment with equal playfulness. **I will not. Unless it tries to touch me first.**

Dancer scoffed with a laughing tone, *And what would want to touch you?* That was just fun. She knew Blaze a bit better than that and knew his heart was good. As she skirted along the ground blue eyes watched for something anything. She took slow deep breaths to take in smells as she moved. Then she saw it. It was a wild tusk pig. Sending the image to Blaze of the animal she said, *These tusk hogs are strong. I know I can't keep one still. If I grab it by the head I can keep it from ripping me to bits but it will run and take me along.* After a bit came her last thought, *What do you wnt to do?*
PostPosted: Thu Nov 13, 2008 7:19 pm

Blaze rolled his eyes. **I can think of a few elves. -I mean things.** Hidden from her sight, we winced. The image of the pig startled him at first, and the idea of Dancer getting ripped to bits even more so. **No, don't! I'll try to burn closed a vein in it's neck first. Or cook its brain. Where are the biggest veins on one of those?** He began to sneak closer to where the pig was, guided by her image. **But if it runs... Just don't get hurt. You are our only healer.** The seriousness of his words became apparent to him, and he suddenly wanted to end the hunt as soon as possible. Creeping up on the other side of the tusk pig, but still out of range, he curled his lips hungrily, the thrill of it all taking solid hold. **Ready when you are.**

"Oh no", Dancer thought. Was everyone going to treat her differently knowing she was the healer? She didn't want that. She didn't feel special for it nor did she want any special treatment. More to think about at another time. Thinking about everything at once was often Dancers problem out on a hunt. Many times her stomach might have gone empty were it not for Fire Bright. *You take care as well Blaze. These creatures might do anything. It will run or it will fight. I think a vein in the throat would work if you can hit it. It will lift it's head soon. Strike then, when it looks my way.* Not long after that Dancer put her animal sounds to work making grunting sounds. Had they not been hunting Blaze might have laughed to see and hear her. The noise was enough to make the beast lift its head and look around for a moment.

The firestarter's attack went off admirably, for one used to hunting and fighting on sand, and against an animal he had no experience with. As the hog lifted it's head, he sunk to a crouch, and in the same fluid motion he burst from cover with the shureness and speed of a spear. Forcing all the heat he had into a tight disk against his hand, his eyes focused on the neck of the beast, and in a split second he was at it's side. His hand darted out, passing with a sound like fresh meat touched to a hot blade acrost the spot Dancer had pointed out. A smell of burnt hair and fat reached his nose, but no blood came. The hog whirled on him, beady eyes red with rage, tusks bared in a horrible squeal, and charged. But the knife of heat had done it's job. A burned clott of blood broke free, and the beating of the heat forced it deep into the brain. The hog plowed into the leaf litter, Blaze tripping backwards over a root into the ferns in his haste to get out of its way. Staring wide-eyed with an amazed, open-jawed grin at the leaves above, he lay quite still.

Dancer leaped happily from her hiding spot with a roar. "RRROOOOAAARRRRR Blaze you did it!" For the moment the hog turned on Blaze she was scared for his life but since he was fine and all went well she was overjoyed. Dancer helped Blaze to his feet and hugged him tight. "You have brought us our first kill worth talking about. Meat for the tribe. Thank you so much my friend." She laughed then looked him in the eyes. "I'm so glad neither one of us listens to the other at times." As the wind picked up around them Dancer never noticed. She herself did a happy dance around the wonderful meal they would get to enjoy this eve. "I will have to make up the Dance of Blaze the hunter with the touch of fire!" She giggled as she glided around the slain beast with the same delight and grace she had the night Blaze first saw her dance.

Blaze brushed the leaflitter out of his hair, smiling sheepishly. **I'm just lucky. That thing could have exposed my insides to the air just as easy.** He frowned as the trees rustled in unison, the deep drone of the storm returning. **Now let's get this ugly beast back to the others before the storm picks up again. Come on, you can do your dance there, for everyone.** Eyeing the hog, he guessed it would take a lot of work just to get it back. **We could gut it now, and maybe the scent would bring Firebright. Or maybe something else. I think we should do it here, so that we don't attract anything to the cave.** He eyed the edge of the circle of clouds above, moving closer and closer. **Either way, we have to work fast.**

Dancer giggled a bit then also looked at the sky. "It's going to rain more?" Her tone fell to the ground like the leaves that dropped off the trees. Then she cast her eyes to the dead animal with a sigh. "Don't you think the wolf riders will want any of the innards? The heart and liver are prized parts to feed on for most animals. We really should see what they might want. As for me I want any meat I eat cooked first." She chuckled as she shrugged and lifted the pigs hind legs. "You get the front and we will get it back somehow." Then she frowned deeply. "I guess I have to wait to find Fire Bright." The frustration of not finding him and sadness that she must leave him showing clearly on her face.

Blaze looked skywards at the greying thunderclouds, and back at Dancer's unhappy expression, and he made up his mind. **Even Wolfriders won't eat the guts; and those weigh a lot. Lets just leave the heart and such in; I like those too. A little rain and wind won't hurt us. Besides, if the tiger comes, we can use him to carry the hog back, can't we?** A sudden image of the tiger looking over it's shoulder, trying to gnaw on the carcass filled his mind, and he laughed. **You start the cutting. You've done this before, right?** He helped her roll the pig onto it's back, and walked off a little ways, looking for a suitable branch to use as a carrying-stick.

Dancer heaved a sigh again as she set the pig down. "Very well. Can you open it up? I have been working on a spear but it's in my own cave and I think Savith has the only real cutting tool in the group." She would do the messy job without protest. It was part of the way they lived and nothing to be squeamish about. "If my cat comes I will have to send him back into the woods if the storm is as strong as it has been." She knelt down by the hog and waited to see if Blaze could open up the beast.

Blaze turned and came back to her side, pulling a reasonably pointed spike from his belt. **I wish I'd thought to bring a peice of blackrock. But this will do.** Pressing the tip against the tough hide, he attempted to make a hole that would at least get them started.

The tip barely tore the surface, and the spike skittered off the tough skin, piercing through Blaze's pants and slicing a shallow furrow in his leg. He yelped and sat down suddenly, blood staining the cloth around the wound. **Burned blood and rotten water!** His pained send was a bit more powerfull then he would have wanted it to be around Dancer, but there was cause for it. **Well now we've got blood...**

Dancers face winced at the send. Her mind still touchy to his. She knew he didn't ever mean to hurt her that way and his mind was like him, a bit rough around the edges at times. Then she gave him a grinning little shake of her head. "I'm not going into the woods with you anymore. Every time I do something happens to you." Chuckling she winked at him and looked at the wound. "I will do what I can to help Blaze. Chances are good that it won't be much." Lightly Dancer placed a hand over the rip in his leg. It wasn't to deep and would heal fine so long as it was kept clean and such. Now that Dancer knew what called inside her she let the feeling take her. Blue eyes slipped shut and Blaze could feel a warming sensation around her hand and into his leg. If he watched he would see the wound stop it's bleeding. The flesh was still cut and needed tending but at least the blood was done with. When she lifted her hand from his leg Dancer went from kneeling to sitting. Every healing seemed to drain her so much and one that went very well made her want to sleep. She knew she mustn't and fought to keep awake. "I guess we will have to take it back like this." Her voice clearly told the story of how much healing affected her. It was soft and slow, like waking from a dream. The rain started to plop down on them slowly and Dancer sighed. The Cat Elf knew this wasn't good and poor Blaze was stuck trying to figure out what to do. *I'm..... I'm sorry for being so much trouble Blaze.* Her send was indeed sorry for what was now his plight. Stay with Dancer through the storm till she was good enough to make it back, Leave the meat and take her back or take the meal back and leave her there. That would be her choice but she knew Blaze better then that. He would never abandon her.
