Berts little black cat all kinds of people smoke, you can't generalize and say everyone who eats organic or something like that don't smoke. i don't smoke cigarettes, but i do smoke weed. i honestly don't see anything bad about it. and, it is organic. Unless you're growing your own, I don't know that the weed is organic. It's most likely been fertilized and sprayed, too. That being said, there are lots of things that grow that are deadly, like the hemlock we've been fighting here. Very pretty---looks almost like Queen Anne's Lace---but it will definitely kill you. Some poisonous mushrooms look just like mushrooms that are safe to eat, and people who harvest "wild onions" from their yards and fields are likely to end up dead, too. Salvia is also being used, just because it isn't regulated, and can cause death. Remember clove cigarettes? So don't assume that just because something grows, even in the wild, that it is okay to use it. The bottom line with this smoking issue is that lungs were not made to do anything with smoke (any kind of smoke) except get rid of it. At the very least, smoke inhaled causes a decrease in the amount of oxygen that is available to the brain, not a good thing. Lack of oxygen from any cause can cause hallucinations and eventually death. Really want to feel good? Increase your oxygen intake!

PiercedPixie2 Im not stereotyping, but when you buy organic food it means you generally care about your body, why else would you spend the extra money? Smoking means One might as well just not buy organic food, they might as well eat meat pumped with hormones, and fruit sprayed with pesticides. It could be that possibly they were addicted to tobacco, before they started trying to be healthy, and are now having a hard time quitting. I don't know, just speculating.

Yeah I have smoked my share of it, a long time ago (I was a true teen of the 70's). My grandfather got started smoking it back in World War 1, it was given to him by the Army as a pain reliever, for getting shot in the elbow. He smoked it for the rest of his life, never smoked tobacco. He died of lung cancer in 1966 (I was 4). They say it was the weed..................

Yeah, or trying to look older, or "cool", or substituting smoking for food or something. We do lots of stupid things to our bodies, for lots of reasons. Kind of like eating a big fast-food meal with a diet drink, or driving without a seatbelt. Hopefully we all will look at the stuff we do and fix what is ridiculous! I know I'm still working on it!

Lots of things are organic, but it doesn't make them good for you. Take poison ivy, oleander, nightshade, and poison dart frogs, for example.

Congratulations Granny! That's an amazing achievement.
The first vegan I knew smoked daily. She ate the strictest diet, and exercised like no tomorrow. And then she'd light up. Talk about a head shaker. Her reasoning was that eating healthy would offset the cigarettes.
The first time I smoked was a rolled up piece of paper with a friend when I was ten. X3 We only did that once.
However, I, uh, actually enjoy smoking cigars. ninja

I sometimes worry my boyfriend as I tend to be pretty masculine. Yet girly. I'm an odd mix. Keep 'em on their toes I say. >_> Anyways, cigarette smoke gives me a headache straight away, but cigar or pipe doesn't. For me, it's a much earthier smell. I wouldn't want to be locked in a unventilated room with cigar smokers, but I don't mind the smell at all.

I just love the smell of a pipe. I hated it when my dad quit smoking. The pipe suited him.

Artistic Mystic I The nicotine addiction isn't what got her back, it was the simple habit of having to have a cigarette in her hands. If she doesn't have one she's a nervous wreck and can't get her mind off of it. Half the time she'll light a cigarette and just hold it there letting it burn up without even taking a drag stressed Oh man, I can relate to this. Almost everyone I knew growing up smoked. My parent's, my grandparent's [both sets!], most of my aunts and uncles, my older brother, his friend's, my friend's parents, and of course, this was the 90's, so everyone in the media smoked too. One of the reasons I find it so hard to fight becoming a smoker is that I learned a lot of "smoking behaviour"; gestures, patterns of speaking [due to taking drags], certain body language/expressions, and emotional reactions that dictate I should be holding/puffing/inhaling/flicking/lighting a cigarette. It's weird, to say I've been socialized to smoke, but I find myself doing or saying something and thinking "I should really have a cigarette...", it's not really a craving, just a sense of absence. Like getting used to wearing something, and then not wearing it and noticing that it's gone, randomly. I smoke very irregularly. Typically cloves [terrible!!], and it's usually a month or two before I smoke another one..so far it's been four or five months since the last one I had. I don't get cravings very much, but the habit-feeling comes up with a lot more strength ever since I had my first one. Probably because of being raised in a "smoking family", I find the smell of tobacco to be comforting in it's own right.

That's interesting as I was raised around smokers and I can't stand it. I also had asthma as a child so that's probably plays a big roll. It's interesting how socialization and your environment works.

All of my friends have quit smoking . It makes me feel lousy and I miss being able to draw a deep breath. so wish me luck.

That's such a young age to start! gonk
Get your one of your friends to take a few cigarettes and put them in her armpit and then put them back in the pack. It's a sure fire way of quitting. xd Regardless of which way you take, I give you good luck on beating the nasty habit.
