It seemed the death of his father had taken a greater toll than the teen realized. Norman nodded briefly, considering. "You don't expect me to believe you sit and stare at the wall all day, do you, Scyeth?" Norman's voice wasn't cruel or accusational at all; in fact it was warm, almost jovial in askance. "Maybe we should get you involved in a club, hmm? Something you can get into." The Headmaster couldn't help but quirk a coy smile, "Cooking, perhaps."

He chuckled to himself, peering over Scyeth's shoulder to watch. A lot of hostility was still within the teen, and just maybe a bit of loss, a lack of direction. The Headmaster made a mental note to speak with his Advisors, lest they have a repeat performance of what had coined Scyeth the nickname Sparky. "Maybe something more recreational, like boxing, or running."

It didn't really matter what Scyeth thought of his new found habit, he did it anyways. "We don't have clubs," the youth muttered, half-wondering if the Headmaster was implying he should start one. He wasn't really sure what he would do with that. The youth would have to think on that one. "I could do running, though. Except it's boring." Running would be very good for him. The teenager cocked his head to the side and gave Norman an appraising look. "Would you get me an MP3?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. Oh sure, there was plenty of money left to Scyeth, he just lost all his contacts with the outside world.

The oven pinged and Scyeth blinked, opening the oven to peer down at his cookies. They looked kinda golden-brown, good enough. The blond reached in to grab a cookie sheet before he registered the heat. Oh right. Oven mitt. Grabbing the padded cloth, he removed his two cookie sheets and set them on the counter. "There. You try one."

The Australian was only mildly afraid of what he may have done to those things. (Though on second thought, poisoning the Headmaster might not be very beneficial to his existence, either. Or his MP3.)

"Then make one." The response was light-hearted, amused. "Saviors aren't the people who mill about and wait to be shuffled into order, Scyeth, they are the ones who take charge and move forward, to usher in change and foster growth. Those who wait are rarely defined in history." Norman shook his head at the rest of the statements, sighing with a smile. "When you advance next, I will gift you with a music player. Your grades had better be the best in the class." No question, no room for fighting; if Scyeth wanted to ask of him as a father, he would act the part.

The Headmaster looked over the cookies, a wide smile curling the tips of his lips. He was half afraid the cookies might eat him before he could sample them, but that was neither here nor there. "Later. They need to cool." His dark blue gaze returned to the blonde, a grin lighting his features. "Perhaps I will take up running, with all these cookies I'm going to eat. Sometimes we do things out of necessity more than for one's self, although you'll often find they go hand in hand."

Riddles, perhaps, but riddles the soldier-to-be needed to sort out and understand. Norman couldn't tell him everything, nor could he teach him how to think like a soldier; these were things Scyeth would need to learn on his own, and the Headmaster could only direct him so far. Cookies were the beginning of a long path he had carved out for the special student.

"Thank you for your time," he said at length, idly poking one of the pastries. "You are free to go if you are bored." A pause. "I'll expect stellar grades on my desk soon."

Scyeth rolled his eyes and shook his head. Old men and their snark, Christ. (He should probably stop using the name of a god that didn't even belong to his people.) "I see, I see. I will be the first student to advance to the next level, old man. Just you wait and see," Scyeth challenged, shaking his head like a rebellious animal. No, it wasn't a challenge, it was more of a promise. Sure, he'd have to surpass RuiZhi, but hopefully the Chinese student wouldn't mind. Scyeth had places to go, things to see.

"Yeah, well. Tell me if any of them are worth it," he said eyeing the cookies thoughtfully. "And don't eat them all if they're good." He had a good feeling about those mint ones.

The youth stretched and gave a great yawn, reminiscent of a large feline getting ready to go on the prowl. "Not bored, you see. Things to do. Places to go." The famous Cheshire grin. "Things to destroy and ideals to rebuild. All that jazz. See you around, Norman." Scyeth turned and offered his hand up in a lazy wave.

A pause.

"Watch this, pops. I'll advance before the year is out."
