Sarah clucked her tongue and chuckled. "Oh Abel you silly duck, of course I'm not 'urt. It really felt quite nice actually, like something warm and fuzzy filling me up inside. Hmm...maybe one of these cold days I should try and make you a lil 'ot cocoa..." She smiled and nuzzled him. "I really am fine love."
She stroked her paws along his cheek and brushed his hair back soothingly. She glanced back at the dead otter and tilted her head. "Well...Seems a downright shame." She slipped from Abel and moved over to the dead otter.
"Seems an awful waste, such a nice plump frame he has, had, has..." She lightly squeezed the otters paw. "Hmm..."

Abel smiled, happy that she was fine and, amazingly, happy. He returned her nuzzle and his paws slowly slipped from her as she moved away from him to inspect the dead otter. He sighed and shook his head. "Do what you wish with it, and the... rabbit," he said, barely able to mention the poor animal the otter had been tearing into before he had intervened, much less look at it. He sat a ways away from the bodies, his eyes cast away from them. He was mostly sad that he couldn't save the victim. Oh well and all that...
"Did it really? Feel... nice, I mean?" he asked, glancing at the otter queen he loved.

She glanced back at him and rolled her eyes "You know I wouldn't lie to you Abel, even to spare your feelings of misplaced guilt, it felt good." She smiled and turned back to the dead otter.
"This will actually do quite nicely I think, if you keep the justice like this, then I won't be 'aving meat shortages all the time..." She prodded the dead otter once more and nodded as she looked it over. She picked up what was left of the poor rabbit and sighed. "Whot a waste..." She shook her head and stroked the soft, slick, bloody pelt.

Abel felt his heart skipped when she confirmed her previous statement and he nodded, smiling a bit. "I'm glad," he said, but sighed when she spoke on the rabbit. "It is," he added, shaking his head sadly. "And it's creatures like these that are becoming more and more common in the Oasis, of late. Not exactly like this, but... bad. I have my work cut out for me."
"Sarah, can you come here? I mean, I... don't want to be by the poor thing, and... I'd like you to come here, please," he asked, glancing at her and keeping his eyes on her face.

She set the rabbit down carefully and walked over to him past the dead otter that was now destined for her shop, into her pies, and for her patrons. She curled against Abel lovingly and nuzzled him.
"Whot is it love?" She hoped he harbored no secret guilt over having had a taste of her. She wouldn't have taken it back for anything, after all hadn't they met because she was after a taste of him? She was grateful every day that she hadn't tried to kill him, she would have inadverdently cut out her own heart.

Abel wrapped his paws around her and held her close, his wings folding her into the embrace. "I never thought I would ever admit it, but I liked it too," he paused there with a slow, soft smile. His uncertainty was still in his eyes, but it had lessened a bit, becoming more confident with her repeated acceptance of his ways. He was starting to wonder if there was anything really wrong with him, after all. Other than the fact that he was a human-made creature and took pleasure in feeding on the blood of others. "Perhaps another time, hmm?" he asked, tilting his head a bit to one side, a sort of timidity in the question.

She smiled and snuggled happily into his embrace looking up at him with a surprised smile at his little confession. "I'm glad you did, maybe soon you'll see that what you do is good, for a good cause." She nodded softly and licked his cheek.
His next words make her break into a full grin and she hugged him. "Of course love." She looked at him coyly and blushed "Maybe next time I can get a n** in too?" She grinned and nuzzled him happily.

Abel shook a bit from a shiver and a chuckle, hugging her tightly. His smile grew and he nuzzled her blushing cheek. "If you want. I don't think there are many things I can deny you of," he replied and rubbed his nose against hers in a something of a kiss. "I think it's time we go home, what do you think?" "I think I'll be taking this, so I do," a solemn, normally-cheerful, voice said, causing Abel to look up from his Sarah. The Cat stood over the rabbit, golden eyes glowing dully in the growing darkness. It bent its pink and purple head down to pick up the carcass when Abel spoke again. "Wait. Could you take the other body back to Lovett's shop?" he asked and the strange bob looked thoughtful. "It shall be done," it said shortly, picking up the rabbit's carcass, disappearing for a few moments, before reappearing. It was only slightly taller on its paws than Abel was on his back paws, somewhat small for a bob, but nothing about the strange creature should have been taken for granted. "Until next time, Nightroad," it said before picking up the other carcass and disappearing.
"It'll leave it in front of your shop. I trust it," Abel assured Sarah as an offhanded gesture. He couldn't help but trust the enigmatic animal. It seemed hurt and trusted him enough to act as a more serious creature over the insane and whimsical flip-flopper that it was among other creatures.

She smiled and stroked his cheek happily as their noses rubbed enjoying the feeling. "Yes, home sounds nice..." She sighed happily and curled close against him. Lovett gave a startled jerk as the cat appeared and watched it's exchange with Abel curiously. She relaxed as it took the carcass away glad she wouldn't need to scrounge in the night for meat, at least for a week or so.
"I swear that pussycat seems to appear out of nowhere..." She laughed and nipped his ear. "come on I'll race you all the way to the top of the tree!" She giggled and rushed off.

Abel laughed as he ran after her, away from the area of carnage, all the way to his home. The moon was rising into the sky when they made it back, and instead of flying up to his nest, he checked the lower den. It was empty this night, and so he spent the night on the ground, curled up with his Sarah. The last thing he said before falling asleep, was a whispered confession in the darkness of how much he loved her.
