The Dread Pirate Ghosty I think I'm going to have to disagree with both of you. Erm, well... I dunno, it's more an extension of that, that those facts aren't just cut and dry.
I've always heard, and this makes more sense to me personally, that it's based on your weight and muscle mass.
That's why somebody who is built like me, with extra muscle so they weigh about as much as people much bigger than them (because muscle weighs more than fat) will lose weight faster.
But the more weight I lose, the more I'd need to cut back my calorie intake or up my exercising to produce the same weight-loss effects.
So the calories I need to gain 15lbs in a year will be somewhat different from the calories somebody else would need to intake to gain that weight.
Although now that I'm re-reading Vixen's post, we might be saying the same thing and I'm just confused. I just noticed the "recommended" calorie intake. what are you referring to. Either way you are wrong cause both of my comments are right. If you are referring to the 3500 calorie then you are dead wrong. 3500 calories is pound for everyone and no matter what. Perhaps you are reading the post wrong. If i am too maintain my current weight i would have to eat like 2200 calories if i consume 3500 more calories, i will gain a pound. So like 2700 a day for week would be a lb gain and 1700 a day for week would be a lb loss.

Wait was that last part in the original post, cause i didn't see it. So yeah you are agreeing with me, now i'm confused. Back to topic 3500calories=1lb universal. each person has a recommended calorie intake, 2000 is like a 140lb women recommended intake, not sure why they have being using that for nutritional facts and everything but you may be higher or lower then number. Do your research and be healthy about your weight loss. Personally i believe in the quest for health and not so much in the quest for being skinny. I believe in lifestyle changes not dieting, diets are permanently cause you just start eating the stuff you weren't "allowed" before hand. You know i just noticed, Rayketsue never told me why he thought his body was ugly, i still don't see whats wrong. Of course you don't have to explain it to me, i was just wondering and a little worried you may be suffering from some bad self image.

Of course you don't have to explain it to me, i was just wondering and a little worried you may be suffering from some bad self image. The last part I added a couple seconds later after I re-read, so nope. I misunderstood when you were saying 3500 calories I thought that meant in general, when I realized you said from the recommended amount of calories I realized we were saying pretty much the same thing, I just wasn't listing how many calories off for what person. So I don't really think I was wrong, I also never said yours were dead wrong, I admitted it was probably more of an extension of yours... I assure you, my facts stated were accurate. When I realized we were both saying mostly the same thing, I was just talking about a different aspect of it, I corrected myself.
I honestly know more about weight-loss than the average person, I am very healthy about it. I haven't lost more than 5lbs in six months because I am not going to give in to my urges and go on a crash diet to lose weight faster. I could probably up the amount of weight I lose by cutting back some more of the stuff I eat, having smaller portions and what-not, to get back to the weight loss I had for awhile, but I'm not that worried about it... I don't have money for clothes. I already hate seeing myself in the mirror in clothes that are so baggy because of all the weight I've lost, it makes me feel ugly. But I'm one of the biggest supporters of lifestyle changes, and really down on dieting because it doesn't work. If I could find the before photo of myself, and get a photo of myself in the same shirt, I would post them just to show how much weight I've lost and maintained from lifestyle change.

Yes, yes. I meant you were wrong if you were disagreeing with me, your post however was confusing though right if i read it correctly. So we are both right and someone is wrong but i will not mention any names. I'm happy to hear someone is doing it the right way, too many times i have heard the, i havent eaten anything all day moan or the i had an apple for breakfast and a slice a bread for lunch so now im eating a salad. Its like i just want to shake some sense into these girls and some guys too. Not eating isnt the way to weight loss, its responsible eating. That type of thinking is why there is such a misunderstanding of overweight people. Its all "just put down the spoon fatty", like they now what i ate that day, ******** You!!! Sorry im starting to get angry and ranting.

Sorry im starting to get angry and ranting. lol, I walked two miles today, then had an ice cream cone and some cheesecake squares sweatdrop
The sad thing is, I'm still losing weight doing that, it's just much slower. I know if I cut out the desserts so much I'd lose more, but I've been craving sweets lately.
I try to snack throughout the day, and I try to eat smaller portions, but I don't deny myself sweets. Although I could deny myself a bit more than I do.

I've alwaays been active, but I will say easily that Capoeira, yoga, and weight lifting is a great combo. Wrestling is also a great way to get into shape.
Well martial arts in general help to get a person healthy. Their fun, and there are always other people in the class with you to keep you motivated.

Oh man. Working out.. About that.. My room mate and I committed to working out this year, but being a junior in college has taken up way more of my time than anticipated. So... I'm working on it. We used to have a routine, then I started getting all this homework and not sleeping enough, which is also bad for me. Ahhh where does the time go?
