The Girl Who Can

PostPosted: Fri Feb 06, 2009 1:30 pm

Damien chuckled lightly at the girls sad excuse for a reason. "I don't think global warming is THAT serious...." he said in his calm quiet tone. "Did anyone see a bomb? Or a suspicious person?" Damien was already pretty sure that the girl had caused the explosion. These teenagers were all different, his sense told him. He felt it in the air around him. Delmor was proving itself to be quite a strange town. That could either make it safer for Tehra, because there would be others to either be hunted (hopefully not) or to protect her if they ever met, or it could prove more dangerous because of all the chances for powers to be used wrongly. "Does stuff like this normally happen in Delmor? Statues exploding with no natural cause?"

User Image If her frown could have deepened anymore, it would have. The strange guy with long black hair was suspicious and the red/black haired girl had chosen to ignore his existence of the time being. The blonde girl was obviously feeling overwhelmed at so many people gathering; Alma would have felt the same way. Throwing caution to the wind (Who needs caution? She almost gagged at herself thinking such a thing.), she walked right up to the blonde girl.

"How about we talk somewhere that doesn't have so many people?" Alma could feel embarrassment rising in her throat but she continued, "Um... L-let's go this way..." It was as if her brain suddenly had decided to go to Hawaii; she had grabbed the blonde's hand and began pulling her further into the park, only stopping to glare back at the two males behind her. Once they were out of a normal human's hearing range, Alma began whispering, "Sorry" over and over again to the girl, but did not stop dragging the blonde along. She did not even notice that a few hunks of the partly destroyed statue and temporarily gained flight via a strange black aura. But only a few seconds later, they decide it was too much effort, returned to their normal color and fell back to earth with a soft thump.

User Image"Excuse me?" Penelope tried, but it was to no avail. This girl she had never met continued to drag her further into the park. The trees were getting thicker and it was obvious they were getting close to the border with Adohi. Penelope had enough of that place for a lifetime. This girl hadn't even bothered to introduce herself, yet she was dragging Penelope away from the other gathered people far out where no one... Could... Hear her.

"That's far enough," Penelope ripped her arm free and stood her ground. Though she had only done it once before, some part of her instinctively knew to hold her hands palm-up and fill them with the blue-green flames. "Unless you want to see exactly what happened to that statue, you are going to tell me who you are and why you're dragging me into the woods!"

User Image Alma stopped and felt herself begin to shake. She could feel the emotions from the day and all other days finally crash down on her. Uncontrolled tears began to slide down her face and she finally felt the barrier of her void emotions snap. Whipping around at the girl, she almost felt herself screaming.

"Y-you think I care about what happens to me on this damn rock?!" Alma could feel her powers activating but what hell did she care? Her shaking hands became immersed in shadows. The leaves began to pull themselves off of the trees and got covered in the Shadows. As the leaves took to swirling around the two of them, she continue to vent all the pain, rage, sadness, all the emotions she had locked away, on the blonde. She had only wanted to get the girl away from the others but she had snapped instead...

"I only moved here Saturday and I already want to leave! Do have you any idea what I've been through in the past months?! Every freaking emotion! I've had to ignore it! Pretend I didn't have any feelings! I've had to become a blank, rude, idiot! At least you don't have to deal with it!" Alma fell onto her knees and began to weep, "Damn it.... I-I just wanted to help... A-all I ever to is make th-things worse... I-I'm sorry...." The leaves began to droop and fall to the ground as she began to mumble "I'm sorry" again and again. She knew her eyes had begun to shift into their unearthly red tone. Closing her eyes, Alma turned her face away from the girl and felt the distinct taste of shame in her mouth.

"I'm sorry," she smiled sarcastically, "I guess I really am an idiot... Unloading myself on a complete stranger..." Turning her face back to the girl, red eyes glowing dimly and head bowed, she stood there ready for the girl to do something, anything to her.

User ImageThe girls had abandoned Cael to be left alone with a self absorbed Kero and the unsettling man. The goth seemed to be ignoring him as well. She had grabbed the distraught blonde by the hand and dragged her away from them. Cael turned to the man and said "I don't know about any bombs but girls seems to always be like that. As for things deing normal, I've been here one day and the most normal thing that's happened to me so far is I had a slice of pizza for lunch, so you decide."

<<< Previously
User ImageLindsay decided to go out for some fresh air after school, and after a transit period so dull that a writer skilled in BSing couldn't make it interesting, she had parked her car in the small park parking lot.

Upon first inspection, everything looked quite normal. Then, Lindsay looked around again and saw a statue that lay in rubble, an unusual... black spot, for that was all Lindsay could think to classify it as, in the distance, several clusters of people, and a decidedly un-birdlike flying thing.

What the hell did I just walk in on? she thought, letting out an audible sigh. Just my luck...

Lindsay then walked over to the closest cluster of people, the two guys, which also included the odd flying thing, and asked, "Sorry if I sound clueless, but what happened here?" all the while suppressing the frustration of walking in on something unusual AGAIN. For a Delmor native, Lindsay really wished she could get more used to the insanity therein.

User Image"What... You..." Penelope stared in shock at the girl as the confetti of fallen leaves settled around them. "You're like me?" The flames vanished from her hands as Penelope tried to decide whether to hug this stranger or turn and run. She settled on something more acceptably friendly.

"My name is Penelope," She offered her hand. "I'm sorry I snapped at you, but I had no idea who you were or what you were trying to do. I didn't realize you could do... Whatever we can do, too."

Damien watched as the girls left, his eyes following them for a moment. He wanted to learn what had happened, wanted to know what these teens were hiding, but he knew that following would have been a mistake. He wasn't here to scare the locals, and they all seemed weirded out enough. Damien didn't understand why though, he never frightened people before. He wasn't the type. Damien was a gentle soul, with purely good intentions.

Damien sighed slightly as the other boy spoke to him. "Seems to be this town is full of very strange people. It looks to be that this place is full of more secrets than it would like to let on..." he said as he turned and looked at the brunette boy. "I'm Damien by the way.... and what is that?" he asked as he looked at the floating rodent. Damien was merely curious, he didn't come off as schocked or surprised.

After a moment, he heard another voice behind him and turned to see a brunette girl. She had asked what happened. Damien got the same general sense of unusualality from her as well. "Well it appears that a girl who ran away a few moments ago blew up this statue" he pointed to the remains of the concrete structure, which now had a few blocks floating with a black aura. "Aaand then that happened." He chuckled slightly as he watched the sheer ridiculousness of it all. Then he saw the floating rocks fall. 'Yes I do think there is a lot to look into here....' He thought to himself as he waited for the two teenagers' responses.

(just so ya'll know, Damien is not meant to be disconcerting or unsettling. He's actually pretty calming and polite. I'm sorry if he came off as creepy, he's really not supposed to be)

User Image Alma stood up and shook the hand that was offered, which she hadn't expected. The goth had expect the blonde to run away or attack her or something... This was the first time she had lost control in front of someone. As that thought crossed her mind, she flushed. Suddenly, she realized her glasses were messing up her vision. It always happened when her eyes changed. As she started to speak, she pulled off her glasses and slid them into a random pocket.

"Um... I'm Alma..." Alma mumbled, "I doubt we're exactly the same." Smiling slightly, she took her hand back and use it to point to her eyes, "I mean, your eyes don't turn red, do they? And I'm sorry, my life's been crazy these past few months..." Sighing, she waved a hand and started playing with a few leaves, which had gotten covered in Shadows again, but were under the goth's control this time.

User ImageYet another person approached the scene asking what had just happened after the only possible culprit was already gone. Cael was through. He wasn't going to get the answer he wanted and he was just going to have to explain to someone else that he didn't know what was going on. Grabbing Kero and stuffing him into his shoulder bag he said to the girl, "A dragon, about 700 feet long, swooped out of the sky and took a bite out of the statue and then flew off." Cael turned and left everyone else standing there as he walked off towards the PU. It was getting late anyway. Kero had wanted to go to the concert.

User ImageLindsay nodded at the dark-haired man before the brunette spouted his unbelievable explanation.

"Odd abilities I'll believe, I mean this IS Delmor," Lindsay offered, "but I don't believe dragons one bit, you snarky..."

Before she could finish her insult of choice, the brunette had shoved the odd flying creature into his bag and turned away, walking off to who-knows-where.

"What is the blackness surrounding the floating rubble anyway? You have any clue?" Lindsay asked, hoping the dark-haired man who seemed to have figured a lot of the situation out might know.

I really should be more used to this stuff... I've lived in Delmor for ages... But I can never get used to everything that goes on around here! Lindsay thought, wondering what it was about her luck that always seemed to lead her to find these sorts of things.

"I'm afraid I couldn't tell you who did it, but it was likely one of those girls. They ran off though before I could ask. They both seemed rather freaked out. So... do you know if this kind of thing is normal for Delmor? I'm afraid I've just arrived here today and am rather confused..." the man said with a kind smile. Damien was used to this sort of thing, but never so much in such a high concentration. "My name is Damien, by the way..." He knew in the back of his mind that he would need to return to Tehra soon, but for now he would gather what he could from the people around here.

User Image"I assume my eyes don't go red, but I really don't know. This is really the first time I've been able to control it." Penelope shrugged letting a small flame dance across her fingertips.

"You're new here, aren't you? I mean, the high school is so small, I imagine I would have seen you around." Penelope really hoped she was right, otherwise things would get really awkward. "These sorts of things happen a lot around here. Have you heard about the time some crazy guy tried to steal the Internet using our power?"
PostPosted: Mon Feb 09, 2009 2:49 pm

User ImageCael got about 10ft from the statue before he heard something that caught his ear and made him stop, intent on finding out more. Far from believing his story about a dragon (not that expected her to) this third girls with her long hair and red shirt seemed to find this incident far from strange and might even know what had happened. Cael could hardly pass up the possibility of the first answer to over a hundred questions about today.

Damien had started talking to the new girl when Cael sprinted back towards the pair of them. The guy had introduced himself to Cael and Cael had just walked away. If not for his calming aura Cael would have expected a chewing out to ensue from something like that, but then he was used to people that were a bit more rough with him. As Damien was introducing himself to the girl he grabbed Damien's had and shacking it vigorously said very quickly, "Hi. My name's Cael. Sorry about before, just walking away like that. It's been a log day. I just heard you two talking about the normalcy of this and I couldn't help but be curious."

Winded from running and talking and the act of pretty much alienating himself from yet another two people, Cael released Damien's hand, shut his mouth and waited to hear what the girl had to say while he caught his breath.

OOC: apologies to a91nicole for missing your comment at the end of your previous post. That was more a comment on my character than yours. It was the fact that he is calming that creeps Cael out. sorry for the misunderstanding : )

(its fine smile )

Damien smiled as he shook his hand. "Nice to meet you Cael. It's perfectly fine. I can see where this event would be a bit uh.... perplexing to most. " he turned back to the girl, hoping she had more of an explanation. So Damien awaited her answer as well.
