Casanova shook his head quietly for a moment, a mournful look in his eyes. "Well, be that as it may. I think that even stormy skies could not damper the wish of a woman. But... I understand your reluctance. You wish for the day to truly be magical, and not the storms or wind to rob you of that pure moment. Just do not let the hurdles pen you in forever. You must not live for the can'ts but the cans." He smiled kindly to her.

"So tell me, Kahili. Have you enjoyed other adventures? Do you have tales to tell?"

Kahili sighed a bit and shook her head. “I’m afraid not. I haven’t gotten to really any interesting places yet. I must sound pretty boring, huh?” she said as she peered at him through her bangs. So much for being a great adventurer and she didn’t even have any stories to tell. Casanova may have been leaving a good impression on her but she was positive her impression on him wasn’t so good. “Y’know, I changed my mind. Let’s go see the ocean.” She gave him a wide smile as she made to move out from under the tree shelter. “My hair is already soaked anyway and if you don’t mind your wings getting wet then I can’t really see a reason not to go. I’m sure the weather will break soon, right?” She had to stay optimistic. Everything would turn out fine if she stayed positive. At least she hoped so.

"Ah, that is a pity. But surely, even if you have not seen great sites, there is more to the tale of Kahili." He smiled genially. "I do not believe that any is truly boring. Perhaps just quiet." He pressed gently against her with his shoulder teasingly.

However, at her change of subject, the light shone in Casanova's eyes. "Truly! What an occasion! I truly believe in the phrase carpe diem - seize the day!" He grinned. "After all, a day is only miserable if you think of it as one. I for one thing that today has been exceptional. And indeed, there shall be no excuses not to pay a visit to the sea as we are already wet." He nodded. "And the storms cannot rage forever."

He set out with a skip in his step towards the West, with a glance backwards to make sure she was following. He had visited the sea before, and was fairly certain he knew the way.

Kahili grinned and trotted out after him into the rain, which was actually starting to lighten already into a light drizzle. "I'm trusting you not to get us lost, Casanova. Today should be a good day and it certainly wouldn't end up good if we got lost." She nudged his shoulder just as he had done to her and smiled sweetly. She had a good feeling about the outcome of this particular day now. A few hours ago she probably would have thought this to be a terrible day just because of the weather. But with this stallion here and with his encouragement the day just had to be good! She was going to get to see the ocean thanks to him! That in itself was a sign of good fortune.

"Then all I can say is that you have found a worthy vessel for you trust." Casanova responded confidently as he continued walking Westwards. "I have made the journey myself many times, although I must admit that it is usually by air." He made certain that Kahili was matching him stride by stride.

"So it might take a spell, but one that I wager will not be wholly unenjoyable." He smiled. The sea was not a close destination, but not an unrealistic one. And the journey, Casanova hoped at least, truly would be a trip to remember and be remembered.

"So while we walk, why don't you enlighten me more about yourself?" He smiled. "Is there something about the sea that calls to you?"

"I'm sorry if I slow us down with me being grounded and all. But I'll try and keep a good pace so we'll have a good amount of time to explore when we get there." She could just imagine it now, the sand under her hooves and listening to the roll of the waves out in the sea. It only made her more excited to get there faster and enjoy it longer.

Kahili turned her head to him with a smile. "I don't really know. I think it's just the unknown that excites me. I don't know what's coming and I sorta know what to expect but I know it'll be even better than stories I've heard. So pretty much it's just my curiousity." She laughed and looked up to the sky as the drizzling rain finally halted, though the gray gloomy clouds still hung over the sky. "About myself in general though. I have one sister but I haven't seen her since we were kids. And of course my dad and my momma. I like to explore if you haven't figured that out already, and because of it I've met some very interesting friends. Like you for example." She gave him a charming smile as they both continued trotting along.

"Do not fear about your pace. I will savor the trip as much as the destination. After all, the ground brings beauties often overlooked from the skies."

Casanova smiled at her description. "Ah, the unknown. There are many out there that regrettably fear the unknown. Who hide from it like some beast that lurks in the dark. It is soquili like that that I pity. Like you, I see the unknown a a locked chest with untold wonders inside. If you are afraid to open it, than you miss out on so many possibilities. Certainly, it may be a Pandora's box, but even that contained the hope of the world burried in the misery. One can never spend their life in fear of doing something new."

Casanova listened attentively to her description of her family, and returned her smile. "And I am thankful that your wanderings took you to me as well. Life is about experience - meeting new people and learning about them. "

“It seems our minds have a similar way of seeing things. It’s nice sharing thoughts with someone who knows what I’m talking about. I haven’t really met anyone who I’ve connected with before. I like it.” With a smile she took off ahead of him through the small drizzle of rain fluttering down from the gray sky. The view ahead already revealed the break in the clouds revealing blue sky. It definitely would be a good day. “So what about your family, Casanova? What’re they like? Any brothers and sisters?” Her pace turned into more of a skip now as her mood was starting to lift with the weather. Bad hair or not.

Casanova smiled gently. "That is a pity that you have found few true comrades in you journeys. But I suppose that finding those special someones who see the colors of your heart make the chance encounters that much more savory. Would you appreciate the rainbows nearly as much if you saw them every day?" He murmured as the light peered through the scattering clouds and set the colors alive in an wide arc.

"And my familiy... is of little consequence to my present. I do indeed have siblings, two brothers. But they had little mind for the same pursuits as I." He mentioned nothing of his mother's favorite son who had received the majority of the attention. Or his poor bother who had not the blessing of wings. Casanova had fell in love with words and attention, and how the two could be woven together, even if the attention did not come from his mother or absent father.

And so, Casanova lived for the present.

With such a brief dismissal of his family, she decided not to press that topic any further. "That's very true," she smiled as she looked up at the colors scattered in the sky. "Rainbows certainly are something to treasure. They have conditions that need to be fulfilled before they will come out, which makes them rare. Sort of like a true friend. You can meet a million friends in one day but only a choice few have what it takes to be considered a true friend." Kahili glanced over at her new traveling companion and laughed lightly. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling. So how much further do you think the ocean is? Hopefully it isn't too far, I think we're running out of good conversations." The mare skipped lightly beside Casanova, making sure to keep track of some landmarks in case she decided to return to the ocean again someday.

A dazzling smile lit Casanova's face as he watched the mare stare up at the rainbow. "My dear, you draw the same conclusions as I. The rainbow comes after, as the name suggests, the rain. With the endurence of the poor conditions comes this shining reward in the skies. And true friends are there through the rain. More so, they care about what causes those tears, to try to bring about the rainbow smile after they are shed."

His tail swished back and forth for a moment, savoring the moment before continuing.

"And we are not far. Across this meadow, and past some shrub land. Come!" with a challengin grin, he set off at a canter.

Kahili's grin spread from ear to ear as she picked up her pace to match his, maybe even go a little faster. "You're very insightful, Casanova. It's nice to see how others view the simplest of things. I don't think I'll ever meet another such as yourself. You just don't meet insightful individuals very often. At least I haven't." Thinking more on her 'insightful' comment, she wondered if some were just born that way or if they studied things...a lot. Who knew? It was probably just something complex in their brain that others didn't have. There she was rambling again! With a shrug and a flick of her long tail, she continued on, eager to finally see this famous ocean.

"That is an unfortunate truth." Casanova called out as he also increased his pace a smidge, overtaking her for a moment, and sending her a challenging grin. This was the life! Adventure, a lovely mare, and interesting conversation! The storm truly had led to a wonderful rainbow.

Before long, they were racing through the thinning trees as the last pats of rain from the water-holding leaves overhead pelted them sporadically. There was no need for words here in this moment. Casanova drunk in the experience, casting glances at the mare who ran by his side.

And then, suddenly, the trees fell away as the ground became sandier, their hooves digging in deeply, slowing their race. A rolling crash could be heard ahead over the rolling dunes.

Kahili laughed and threw her head back as they ran, letting the wind whip and tease through her braided mane and send her long tail flying behind her. It really was great to just run in the wide open space! Her pace matched his perfectly, she made sure of that, but when her hooves hit sand she stumbled a bit. Sand was a new experience and it took her a bit to get the hang of it and actually atempt to catch up with him. "No fair! I've never run on this stuff before, I say you lose by default!" Though as she continued to try and catch up she just laughed, mostly at herself.

Coming up over the top of the sand dunes, she stopped dead in her tracks with her mouth wide open. So this was the ocean. It stretched as far as her eye could see and there was nothing else out there! Just...water! Miles of it at the least! "It's amazing!" she shouted as she ran down to the water's edge. "I've never seen anything like it before. I mean I knew it was big but I had no idea! C'mon Cassi, let's see what we can find!" With that she was off again bounding through the water and jumping over the rolling waves. This day had to be the best she'd ever had.

((Ahaha I thought with her attitude all upbeat and hyper the nickname was cute blaugh ))

Casanova's smile was genuine as he slowed to a trot and then a stop as the spark in Kahili's eyes brightened to an outright glow as they crested the last sand dune and the crashing waves greeted her. It was so rewarding to see her so happy, to have been a part of bringing her to something she had always desired to see. He let loose a bemused chuckle at the nickname she had labeled him with.

"Very well, Kahili! You win!" He laughed, watching her cavort. "Today is a day for you, after all. I am happy to have been able to help you find your way here. The beach truly is a magical place."

He trotted towards the shoreline, his hoofbeats muffled against the wet sand. It was certainly an interesting sensation. It had been some time since he had last been here. There was nothing quite like the squishy sand, not even the moist earth during the rains. Mixed with the surf foaming around his fetlocks, it was exhilirating.

"Indeed! There are all sorts of treasures that the beach can present!" He looked about, hoping that perhaps they might be lucky enough to chance upon a tide pool.
