Atrocious j**z
I've been told that I'm like a white person trying to act black. So I suppose that means I'm not black enough.

But, the thing is, the person who told me that was white.

sweatdrop

now that is just some crap. people tell me i'm not black enough to do things because i'm yellabone and i don't speak with a slang or even use slang. i talk proper english i guess you can say i act more on the white side than on the black. its ignorant when people say your not black enough to do things or whatever....in a way it makes it seem as though they are discriminating against their own race because they didn't share the same enviroment that they grew up in

Black_Ronin
how many have heard a person of another color say "i act more black than you!!"

how do you "act" black?

how can you be "black" enough?

discuss

I really can't tell you, the arguement it basically a waste of time because it is usually based on stereotypes rather than what African people actually act like. Hell, I've been told I'm not "black" enough based on the fact that my father is a european man. However to that I say, I rep waaaaaaaay harder than most who even bother to utter the words. It's sad that willy lynch is still alive and well in our diaspora. crying

However when one acts like Tiger Woods rather than what he is, then it becomes a problem....BAMBOOZLED ALERT!

Wow nice Guild.....Bare with me a bit while a rant....

What exactly is acting "black"? How can you act black? That is a colour is it not? This really pisses me off. One because im accused of it all the time and two its just idiotic. Just because I dont hang out with the balck kids or wear big clothes im less black than some gangster guy walking around with his pants falling off of him and yelling out the "N" word. Another thing that really irks me is the fact the most black people dont like other non-black people saying the "N" word but they walk around saying it. That word is deleted from my vocabulary.....Excuse me but "Ni**a" and Ni**er are not different. STOP WITH THE IGNORANCE!!!!!
thank god someone agrees with me

How could you disagree? You can't act "black", just like you cant act white or asian. All your seeing is how black people are stereotyped. I know I don't fit that stereotype.

yes you can't act black, white or asian but because its a stereotype to a race doesn't mean that don't act like that. The reason why people still stereotype because about half of each race takes the actions of that. and putting a race to that stereotype is the best way to show how someone is being ignorant.....

Its weird. I dont like it. My brother and sister say i'm not black anymore because I listen to more underground rap. Its so annoying.
conversely, they could be 'not black anymore' because they're happily being spoon-fed the excuse for rap that is constantly played on radio stations, most of which are owned by the same conglomerate, and mainly run by White folks (no offense to any White readers - just a fact).

but seriously, that's a stupid comment for them to make. or anyone else, for that matter. even Condoleeza Rice, who's trying her damnedest not to be, is still Black, and if any of us could 'not be Black anymore', it would be Condi!

["black enough?" i don't take it literally because that's not what people mean when they make a comment like that. so i won't sit here and argue about how you can't "act the color of your skin."]

[...have you ever heard anyone who is NOT black call you "not black enough?" or remark that you're "acting white?" it's never happened to me that way. so why is it that black kids seem to hold one another back? don't criticize me because i don't fit the stereotypes! funny thing is that so many of the stereotypes are created and supported (directly or indirectly) by black folks. evil then they are accepted by everyone else.]

[i suppose you can "act black" by using mannerisms and dressing the way black people are stereotyped as doing; buying things and listening to music that fit those same stereotypes.]

[people have said i act or sound "white" before. rolleyes ...i could go on for hours...but i have someplace to be, so you all will be spared for now. twisted ]

...I was disagreeing with the definition, which would support the idea of acting "black" so hence I disagree with that. What are you talking about? I really never said:

"OMFG, I tooootally disagree, b-cuz ppl can act "black"!!11!1"

Seriously, I really never said that. stare

However, maybe when I said:

Quote:
However to that I say, I rep waaaaaaaay harder than most who even bother to utter the words.

I was talking about when people talk about you don't listen to rap, smoke crack, have 5 babies by different fathers while being a viedo ho on welfare and sellin bootleg cd's, so you aren't "black". Yeah No I'm not "black" however I work very hard to educate myself as well as others around me to know our history, our legacy, our problems and maybe even some solutions. I rep the non-stereotypical African people in this country who believe in unity and a better tomorro for people within our diaspora. So when people tell me I don't act "black" I brush them off because I know I'm doing way more to uplift my community rather than damage it through stereotypical behavior...ie I rep waaaaaaay harder. U get me now?
