(That's fine, I know the feeling. XD And yes, t'is very okay! <3 I'm assuming I post here first...? XD)
Rani giggled, having watched him walk right into the tip of the wave. "How could you forget being in such a lovely place?" The shorter cattaur grinned. "I almost forgot why we came here in the first place, though."
Taking a deep breath of the sea air, Rani focused back on their "mission".
(...I think I should be the sorry one, for how short it is. D; I dunno what to say, hopefully Moose can make up for my lack of length. XD)

A large, swirling rift appeared a foot off the sand and began to grow. The spiraling mirage of blues, greens, and purples crackled with raw magic that lashed out at the sand beneath it, turning it to pure glass. As if to ruin the ominous entrance, a green paw stuck timidly out of the rift, testing the ground before retreating, only to have a mop of faded red hair follow it. " Alls safe, " Armaeo declared, looking back before he stepped out. Saddle bags on his haunches were filled to the brim with books, wands, potion bottles and all sorts of magical trickery while his arms held a basket of fresh fruit.
Stretching, he yawned wide before surveying the area. What a glorious beach! The sweet summer air was cool against his flushed face and for a moment, he forgot that he was still on Earth. How could he have ever picked a better place to make a landing?
His golden green eyes landed on a couple of familiar faces, one he was happy to see and the other not so. The urges to rush over to Rani and scoop her up in a hug were killed the moment he saw his younger 'brother'. Over the past couple of years he'd corrosponded with Clea through letters to check up on his mother and the family. Of course, Zain had been mentioned but Armaeo couldn't help to overlook him. The familial bond just wasn't there for him. " Naomi. " Armaeo turned back to the vortex nervously. " Put on your best face; we have company. "( Hope that was good for you guys. ='D I couldn't think of a flashier entrance for him. xD Lol. )

(xD It's fine and yay for flashy entrance!) "Are you sure this time, Armaeo?" Replied Naomi before carefully stepping onto solid ground. Her clear eyes gazed about, but the cattaur had to blink several times before she could focus clearly. "Why can't we ever walk like normal people would?" She muttered fixing the strap of her book bag and then patting at her now frizzy hair.
Flicking her tail over the glass to revert it back to sand and to help close the rift, Naomi heard Armaeo speaking to her. "My best face?" Growled Naomi quietly before noticing who Armaeo had been talking about. Her guard relaxed as she recognized the figure and a bright smile split onto her face. "Rani! And is that Zain?" She almost shouted, but grew silent after looking at the cousin who she hadn't seen except for those few trips home. "Under certain circumstances that outshine it yes..." Replied Zain before things around them went crazy. The wind whipped around Rani and him as the rift appeared and Zain moved in front of Rani protectively. Then of course it opened to reveal them....his family. "Armaeo...and Naomi?" He questioned softly hoping the hard edge to his tone wouldn't be noticed. Sure he had been okay with finding Naomi, but he hadn't expected the slim chances of seeing Armaeo here would actually happen. The air around him chilled as the young cattaur tried to stay on the spot instead of just turning around and leaving the scene.

Ranikata clung to Zain's arm as the rift appeared and then disappeared, her eyes wide to take in the whole event. For a moment she had been scared, but it was so pretty she had forgotten her fear, and then Armaeo and Naomi came out of it. She clapped her hands in awe.
"That was awesome, you guys!" Grinning, she ran over to her friends, hugging them tightly. All her insecurities about not being wanted by them had also been forgotten for now. "We were looking for you, y'know! You were right, Zain, here they are!"
She turned to the blue cattaur and grinned, not noticing the tension in the air. How could she, when she was so happy to see the best friends she hadn't seen for so long? She liked Zain a lot during their adventure, and probably wouldn't understand why the three wouldn't be super-close family, though she had already been told so.

" Normal people, dear cousin, don't have paws. " Armaeo grinned. " I do believe what you mean are normal taurs and to answer that question would be useless. Who wants to enter normally? " He added with disgust. "What do I look like, a human?. "
Blinking in surprise, Armaeo's eyes quickly warmed up as he hugged Rani. It'd been so long since he'd seen her that he feared the worst. " You'll have to get me to teach it to you when you grow up, Rani. " Armaeo ruffled her hair. " Zain helped you? "
He peeped over her head warily to his little brother, whom didn't seem as pleased by far. But then, why would he be? Armaeo was there. " That was awfully considerate of him. Thank you very much br- ur, Zain. Its been a long time since we've been together and I appreciate you reuniting us. "

Naomi glared at Armaeo and hissed, "You know what I meant!" Before turning to Rani with a giant hug. "You know...the whole flashing vortex thing may look cool, Rani, but it's horrible on a taur's hair." She joked snuggling into her friend. "But seriously, I feel like we haven't seen each other in forever!" She was about to go on a speaking frenzy asking about how Rani had been what she had missed on her journey and all before she noticed Zain. 'Oh...boy.' The illusionist looked back from the two brothers carefully and hoped that nothing would start.
"Oh joy." Muttered Zain darkly under his breath before throwing on a fake smile. "Yeah, here they are indeed." He forced a dry chuckle before his brother spoke. Then he kept the fake smile up before flashing Armaeo a dirty look. "Ah, yes Armaeo. I'm so glad I could do some reuniting for once. It is a pity to be separated from friends and loved ones after all."
Giving a soft sigh to herself, Naomi tried to push away the threatening atmosphere with a bright smile. "So how have you been, Rani? I have been wondering so much about you!"

Ranikata stuck her tongue out at Armaeo. "I'm already grown up! ...Mostly." She giggled. "I guess I'm not as old as you though, 'Maeo," she added with a wink.
The cattaur returned Naomi's smile, but though her spirits were still high, they were starting to feel a bit dampened by something in Zain's voice. She couldn't quite put her finger on it though, not getting the reference, not to mention still being a little oblivious to the whole tense atmosphere thing. Even so, it was starting to permeate her senses.
"Oh, I've been great," she answered, "making flower chains and the like, going around the forest with different family members... but I have been pretty lonely without you two." She smiled wistfully, then grinned. "Until Zain came along. We had an adventure looking for you guys! Not the most exciting one, sure, but an adventure nonetheless," she finished with a decisive nod and a grateful smile for Zain. "What about you two, having fun traveling in your flashes of shinies?"

Armaeo pivoted away from Zain to avoid lashing out. His younger brother had taken a direct stab to his heart but he wasn't going to let it get to him. At least, not in public. Later on, he'd have to set the boy straight on some obviously foggy issues.
" An adventure, huh? " Mild curiosity plagued him for a moment. What was going on with the community while he was gone? Everyone was so weird these days and the way they met up was even weirder. " I've been visiting a friend and studying. The old ways of magic really are something to behold. Their nothing like what you see now in cattaur youth. " His eyes lit up, almost glistening as he clutched one of his rarest finds in his hands. The books cover was bound in worn leather, with a frail strap surrounding it but to him, it was as beautiful as gold. " As for the flashies, I just do that to annoy Naomi. " He winked, scooting safely away from his cousin and any wrath she may dish out.

Zain smiled back at Rani before turning his attention back to his brother and older cousin. "You talk like an old cattaur." Mumbled Zain softly to himself as he stood back to the side afraid of losing his temper. 'Lest...I seem more like Clea today.' He sourly joked.
After giving Armaeo a glare that condemned him for later with one of her magic bursts, Naomi smiled at Rani. "The shininess really isn't worth it, trust me." She purred, "I've been nearly the same as the 'wise' one over there. But with different magic users and different things." Her tail swished slowly behind her as she remembered what she had been through for the last several months. "But I'm so glad that you've been okay!" She frowned though at Rani's last bit, "I just wished we hadn't made you lonely." She looked at Armaeo without hesitation, "How about we spend some time with you to make it up?"
Her smile flashed at Zain as well, "You too of course, lil cousin!"
"Oh joy." Muttered Zain thoughtfully before giving a nod, "Sure if you want me." He didn't look at his brother but the implications were all the same. Plus, maybe he'd learn some interesting magic from Naomi and spending more time with Rani sounded even better.

"Oh, that would be great!" Ranikata exclaimed excitedly. "And of course we want you, Zain!" she added, clinging to his arm. "I'm sure four cattaurs can have a lot more fun than just three!"
Having already had Naomi's invitation-approval, Rani grinned at Armaeo. "Right, 'Maeo?" she asked brightly. "The more, the merrier! You can even show us some of the old ways of magic! If you want to, of course." She wouldn't want to force her friend to do anything he didn't feel comfortable with - or didn't yet know how to do.

A feeling in the pit of Armaeo's gut made him wish that he'd never learned teleportation magic. If he hadn't, he wouldn't be in this kind of situation and he wouldn't feel so awkward around his little brother.
Breathing deeply, he put up an outer facade of a pleased man and scooped his books up. " Hey, now! Flashiness is the sign of a true star, which I am, of course. " He winks at Rani and moves over to her side. " If you are so kind as to invite me, I would love to spend some time catching up. You've been studying on your magic skills, right? I would hate to see potential wasted because of procrastination. "

"Yeah. I hope so." Replied Zain turning his face from Rani to hide the small violet spread of his blush. His heart thudded in his chest, how could he even imagine what magic his family held? Naomi and Armaeo's unknown magical abilities kinda made him jumpy. But for Rani and because of his own curiousity, Zain decided to stay and really pay attention.
Laughing Naomi shook her head secretly at Armaeo's comment of 'true starness'. Her tail moved lazily behind her as she flashed a smile at Zain who was trying to avoid eye contact.
"What about you lil' cousin? Have you gotten some magical control down yet?" She asked with a playful wink before looking back over to Rani. Suddenly she clapped as she gazed at the two cattaurs. "Oh! Yes, I want to see how these two can use their magic!" Naomi grinned happily as she waved her hand towards Armaeo. "Then we can show them some tips and things, right?"

Ranikata giggled, blushing in slight embarassment. "Weeeeell... not exactly. I've never thought much about magic apart from when I see other cattaurs doing it... so I haven't really practiced it... ever," she replied to Armaeo with a sheepish grin.
"I'm gonna need a lot of 'tips and things'," she said to Naomi, her tail moving nervously yet excitedly behind her. She had always wanted to do some magic, and knew she had the potential since she was, after all, a cattaur, but she had never gotten around to ever doing anything. Reyamet, the only other cattaur in her family, had never been big on magic either, mostly just because he had never needed it, and had enough fun with his own games. Not that Rani hadn't had fun playing with Rey, but it seemed to her like it would be a lot more fun to do magic with Armaeo, Naomi, and Zain.
