Jeraha gave a nod of his head, moving after the smaller creature. He didn’t really need to stay with him now that there was a perfectly reasonable excuse to part ways creeping surprisingly swiftly towards them, but he couldn’t help it. The hero complex gnawed at his thoughts- forcing him into action against his want to abandon the leopard. Possibly toss him into the fire himself.

No, he needed to stick around and make sure Thona didn’t take a wrong turn and end up facing the flames. The wind was being distorted by the smoke, rogue flames sometimes shooting out from the main set of fire and burning off things in other directions. With how quickly the fire was moving, there was a good chance they would soon have to worry about jumping flames to avoid being burned by them.

“Come on,” he said gruffly, breaking into a run, “we need to get further away. It’s spreading too quickly for my liking.”

The scant trees that decorated the area were starting to fall, hitting the ground and spreading the fire all the more.

Thona didn't need to be told twice to move faster, he had right when the other started talking. No way in hell he was sticking around. The thought of burning a live, or even get burns on him wasn't what he thought would be fun. anything would damage his fur was something he'd have to pass on. At least for a while. He hoped one day he'd go down in a good fight with a god, or some one with high power.

Thona didn't care weather the other left or not. He could take care of himself. Or at least, he was sure he could. There was plenty of ways to get out of this situation. Or at least, that's what he thought. Things could change drastically in only a matter of seconds.

Jeraha was surprised by just how quickly the flames were spreading. They soon circled in around the two of them in a wide pattern, some patches of flame thicker than others. The smoke was thick and seemed to be coming from everywhere at once.

The large male wasn’t about to die, though. He had a family to think about. His mate would be waiting for him to return.

But now they seemed a little bit trapped. Maybe if he hadn’t tried to stick near Thona in a secret attempt to make sure he got out things would have been different, though he doubted it. Growling at the flames, he took a few steps back, a wisp of it getting too close for comfort.

Thona stopped on a dime. "Damn it." He said as he watched the flames. In some areas the flames were lower. He stood as far away from the flames as he could. The heat was over whelming. "We are going to have to jump it." He started. "There's no other way." He didn't like the idea, since his fur would be all bad underneath for a bit. But he could always rip it out and let a new fresh batch of hair grow.

"We just have to wait at some points the flame goes lower then others." He was sure the other had noticed it to. He wasn't stupid after all. Or at least the least stupid creature he'd run into for a while. He flicked his tail as he watched the flames. The smoke made it almost look as if it was night with in the trapped area that they were in. At least it was going up so that there was enough air between the two. Though it still made it hard. Thona fought to not cough. Clearing his throat every few seconds.

“You’re right,” agreed the large lion, looking around the flames. He wasn’t worried that the leopard wouldn’t be able to jump over the flames. His species was built for leaping, so he would more than likely be able to pull it off despite not being as tall or having as long of legs as Jeraha.

The male lion knew he would be fine as well, as he wasn’t worried about a few burns. He had been hurt more in some many other instances that, even if he did fail the jump and only got mostly there, he knew things wouldn’t be too bad. His only really concern was something going wrong and him not being able to even attempt escape. His legs, he hoped, were strong enough after a recent injury to support a leap. Otherwise, should he fail to escape the flames entirely, he would be in a spot of trouble over what he felt comfortable dealing with.

“You go first,” he said lowly, making it sound something like an order. He didn’t have a problem displaying how the smoke was getting to him, coughing every now and again as his lungs filled with smoke. They needed to move if they wanted to stay awake much longer.

Thona didn't like being ordered around, but right now wasn't exactly the time to b***h at the other about it. Do things, then b***h later. He had no boss, he was the boss or in his eyes. He snorted and eyed around the flames. At least the best he could with the heat of the smoke drying his eyes. They were stinging.

It didn't take long before he saw a good area to run at. Every few seconds the flame would go down just enough to where he could leap over them. As they did go down, He went for it. Jumped, felt the heat at his feet. He thought he felt the flames circle his foot as he went. Then he felt grass upon his feet. It happened so fast, when he looked at his foot, it was just steam coming off it. A little singed.

After thinking he looked just fine, he quickly turned back to the flames. Backing away a bit, but also waiting. Why was he waiting? He should be going, and escaping so he didn't get caught again. But something just didn't feel right about leaving the male lion behind.

The large animal watched the leopard go, breath catching is his throat as Thona leaped over the flames. Why he was worried he couldn’t say. Perhaps he had been spending too much time with Chikala. Or maybe it was always a part of him to worry about others when a situation beyond their control was closing in around them. Either way, it annoyed him that he wanted to see the rude, foul little creature land safely on the other side of the flames.

Once Thona was over, Jeraha moved into position, deciding to attempt the same low-flamed area his counterpart had escaped through. But to him the flames seemed a little too high for him to leap without issue.

Despite his best protests, the lion was not the best at leaping. Back injuries in his youth made such excess shows of energy strenuous on his frame. Still, staying in the circle of fire was hardly a better option. Coughing against the smoke, the male decided to just go for it, charging forward on powerful paws and making a leap over the fire. It was his back legs and tail that didn’t quite make, the short leap more or less landing them in the flames. With a roar of pain his pulled himself forward, rolling onto the ground while beating his tail against the dirt to try and put out the flames that licked over his fur. At that moment he didn’t care if he looked foolish in front of the leopard- it hurt like hell to feel his back feet and tail burning.

Thona didn't take long to react as the other came threw, his back legs and tail on fire. He ran over and started patting at the male as much as he could with the other rolling around as well. It was the least he could do, at least for now. It must have been painful to get burned, but he wasn't sure.

As soon as he thought the other had control He looked around. "We need to get you away from here, Can you walk?" He asked the other. Of course, he didn't want to carry such a huge lion on his back. It'd just be crazy. As well as hard. He knew he could carry him, but the question was more or less how far, could he carry him?

A body could only take so much. But He could at least offer to help try. At least far enough to where they could get away from this fire to where they could walk slow Perhaps find some type of plant to smear on his wounds to keep it from hurting, if it got that bad. He wasn't sure, he didn't want to actually look at the other's legs and tail

Snarling at his own idiocy, Jeraha stopped rolling once the flames on his fur had been put out. He examined the burns on his legs, the fluff that had once decorated them gone a few inches up from his foot. There were burns over the pads of his paws, which he knew would make walking a total b***h.
It had to be done, though, as they were still in a great deal of danger being so close to the flames. The smoke was only getting thicker, and if they didn’t move they could easily be encircled again.

“I can walk,” he growled without checking, pushing himself slowly to his feet. One thing to credit the male- he was stubborn. It didn’t matter that stepping caused him a vast amount of pain and misery each time it happened, he was more than willing to hide it all to get out of there. There would be time enough for wallowing in his pain later on when he wasn’t in the company of another. Already he missed his tail fluff.

“Come on,” muttered the male, limping away from the flames. The male was clearly struggling, but too damn proud to ask for any manner of help.

Thona felt relieved he didn't have to carry him. At least not right now. If it was him and the situation a little less serious, he would have made the other carry him. But doubted that the other would actually do it. He nodded to the other. Still not objecting to the other's commands right now. For now, he was all good for getting out of the area.

"We should find something to put on your wounds, don't want them to get infected, now." He said in a rude type of way. It was his own way of showing a type of kindness. He wasn't too good at it, but sometimes it showed up. If one knew him well, they'd probably very surprised.

“I know how to take care of myself,” snapped the male irritably, now in even less of a mood to deal with the leopard. Still, under the pain and anger Jeraha knew Thona was only making a simple comment and really didn’t need to be punished for it. But tell that to him directly and see what happens. He was actually mildly shocked that the male had bothered to say anything at all, even if it had been somewhat rude.

Limping along, he moved himself stubbornly away from the fire, glad that they were moving over dirt areas, causing the flames to die down in their pursuit.

After a moment, he came to a stop, panting heavily thanks to the smoke in his lungs. He could only hope Thona was dealing with the same trouble. He could barely breathe. Looking at the smaller animal, Jeraha grunted. “If I didn’t know any better I would think you had something to do with this.”

Thona raised a brow. "Don't ask for me for help then, if your that way." He said with a growl. "Your even lucky I'm still here." He simply said. Oh he'd thought about leaving, every second of this whole thing, but he couldn't, not yet. Was it guilt he'd feel? He didn't know. It wasn't something he'd ever experienced. Guilt was something weak pathetic creatures did.

"Oh yes, I just try to kill myself every chance I get." He said sarcastically. "I know how to bring upon fire, cause I'm a god, didn't I tell you that?" He continued his little sarcasm. Was this male for real? Did he truly believe that Thona would put his life at risk in such a stupid way? Death by fire? No thank you. That was no way for a strong lad like himself to die. No. He would die in a great fight. Or at least that's what he hoped. He didn't want to grow old either. Old creatures were the weakest and most pathetic. He'd make sure he'd die before then. But never by fire.

“How lucky could I possibly be?” Jeraha asked with a grunt, though let the matter drop at that. He wasn’t dumb enough to think he would win in a fight with fresh burns on his feet. Despite how strong he was, having less force in his back feet would definitely put him at a disadvantage in a fight.

Jeraha let out a throaty chuckle through his pain, watching the male with wild eyes that let it known just how pissed off he really was by the whole thing. “What part of ‘if I didn’t know any better’ confused you?” he asked darkly, “you, by no means, are akin to a God. I’m not suggesting you are. Don’t get yourself confused, now.” He watched the animal, not sure what to make of him now. They had just escaped a fire together and still were no closer to being buddies. The only reason he was now hurting, in his mind, was because he had lingered around to make sure Thona could get away first. If he had been about his own design, he would have been out of there long ago.

And wouldn’t have been burned.

With a heavy, almost defeated sigh, the large lion looked once more at his feet, the burnt paws blistering painfully. “Do you know where I might be able to find something to put on these wounds?” he asked lowly.

A very weak attempt at being civil.

Thona rolled his eyes. Of course he wasn't a god. If he was, he wouldn't be around mortals. Well, unless he wanted to seduce some female that was. He flicked his tail and watched the other for a moment. "Yeah, I know where some stuff is." He said with a shrug. He had to know.

He started to walk on. "This way, it'll be a while, but I'm sure you can handle it." They had to reach more moist area to find the plant that helps with that. Not only does it help heal faster, but it takes pain away too. It was a nifty little plant that he saw strange naked creatures put on their own wounds a while ago.

Jeraha was irritated. Now he had to let the male lead him. As they started walking, Jeraha began to wonder if they had ever told one another their names. He couldn’t quite recall having ever said anything to the male in terms of introduction. They had jumped so quickly to loathing one another, maybe there hadn’t been enough time.

If there had been a moment, he couldn’t recall it.

Moving after the leopard, the massive lion didn’t show too much pain. Though each step was a new wave of torture, his expression remained hard and unaltered. Only every now and again did he wince at a step. “Worry about yourself,” he muttered to the snide comment. Of course he could handle it- he was Jeraha-Ausi. “All that sarcasm come with a name or what?” he asked after they had been walking for a little while in bitter silence.
