I very rarely get to do realism.. so I sneak it in here and there. >__> I might redo JTW's lower half. It seems off.

It looks good. I don't see whats off about it. Using references is nice. I need to start using them myself.

Two different gay male versions of my current avi: Definitely a bottom - I mean...just look at him!  Slightly more manly [possibly? >__>;;] but still a bottom methinks.  I used to use a lot of refs [still do occaionally] but for the most part I don't anymore.

I don't worry much about doing realism... it doesn't come naturally to me so I don't try to force it. I do want things to look right though... and I do enjoy making faces look different from each other but quite often I'm just lazy and that doesn't always happen. That and I draw other people/characters rather generically than my own since I don't know how they think they should look XD;
References come in if I'm worried enough about it. Some times it's just me doing the pose or some such myself, without even looking in a mirror or anything, to see what shoulder goes up, what side of the hip comes down, can you balance like that, etc etc. But again sometimes I'm just doing a quick sketch.
