"Just flutters?" Rohannon responded with a tone of incredulity. "That is like calling a maelstrom 'just windy' or the beauty of a sunrise 'just pretty.'" He shook his head clucking a 'tsk' with his tongue. "All flutters are gifted, and for one so shimmeringly brilliant as yourself, well, you are the creme de la creme. Surely nobility soars through you veins from some ancestor."
"And I am relieved that you do not think my notions preposterous. I have met others with less... generous reactions. But it makes no difference what they think. If they are blind to the world around them and too dim to see and embrace the magic around us, then more the pity for them."
He nodded encouragingly as she mused the gifts of their kind. "Precisely. Such magic infuses these lands - more so than even other places on this earth. The diversity of the soquili here is proof of this. Surely, this is a mystic place that encroaches the other realm... somewhere, perhaps, that dividing curtain is a bit thinner."

Sevati giggled at his reaction to her words; 'You have to understand, whilst I am happy that I am what I am, that I have the gift of flight, that I can change my size at will and that I have influence over flora, those are a besides to my demeanour. I find joy in the living, and of being here.' she smiled warmly at him, her wings shivering very slightly at his words, because she could sense the passion behind them. This stallion meant all his words.
'I appreciate all your compliments sir, my ears take them in and my heart welcomes them.'
Sevati shook her head; 'I speak from what I think, not from out of generosity, because I realise what you do. Would there be such a race as ourselves if this world wasn't touched by something magical I wonder? Besides,' she winked to him.
'In the height of spring, and the heat of summer there is always magic at work. Attraction and love can soothe some of the most savage beasts. I think that is magic too.'

"Well of course!" Rohannon chimed in. "There is nothing greater than the joys and beauty of life itself. I pity those who fail to see the wonders and brilliance that mere existance offers, or who wish to deprive others of such experiences." There was such a fire, such a passion behind his words. "Everything beyond such is truly a gift. It is a pity that few experience life as fully as we do. However.. perhaps we should see it as our duty to truly live our lives to its fullest. To not waste a moment of such a precious gift or such powerful magic."
He leaned over and pulled at a leaf of clover - as large as a fern frond might be to a soquili of normal size - plucking it from its plant. He took a bite, savoring the lush, moist, velvety texture before proferring it to her. "Even the things that we take for granted. To see them in a new light - or size- it is a gift."
"And to answer your question, I do not believe so. Our kind and magic are one and the same. It fills us, gives us movement, gifts us with that ever so precious life. Where other mundane soquili, or even animals of this land are burdened with the weight of their banal flesh, we soar above it. We are made of different things, you and I - uch ephermial substance. And indeed, the magic of our spirits..." he paused, savoring the connection as he had the taste of oversized clover. "and the love that magic can kindle can be of truly legendary proportions."

'And in saying that, do you also not think that we should encourage others that we meet to view the world as a magical and precious gift?' Sevati asked, she was in wonderment that she'd gotten into such a discussion with this lovely looking male.
Maybe after a while of walking, she would have more energy in her wings, and they could take to the wing again, she longed to see if they could match each other in aerial acrobatics. For now, she felt as though he was expanding her mind, and that could only be a good thing.
'I think you're a gift,' Sevati said, looking directly at Rohannon, accepting the clover leaf and brushing him with a wingtip to thank him. And then she changed back to their subject, like the butterfly that she resembled.
'I'd like to think that everyone could experience a touch of what we do, shouldn't love and light be for all?' she fanned her wings hard for a moment, sending pollen into the air again.

Rohannon chuckled. "I have no doubts that others can experience love. However, is it as pure as us? As sweet and full? Were other soquili able to hold such compassion - then truly, they would be as full of magic as we. Perhaps they can behold the magic of the world - to sip at it as if it were sweet nectar. But can they wholly appreciate it? Wholly contain it? I think that they are not made of such that they can, and that is indeed a pity. Could a Kalona love the scent of a flower, to savor the passion that two can share? They are monsters. Where we are imbued with the magic and wonder of Fey, they are the children of hate and hell. Most would see them as nothing but or deny it. So is that not proof that there can exist such a difference between the races of this world?" His long tail swished, brushing against the petals and the pollen.
"But, my lady, your ambitions are pure and noble. Truly, it would be a boon to grant others the sight that we were given by the fortune of our royal birth. But is it possible?" He rolled his shoulders.
"However-" he paused for a moment and smiled as he looked her over. "Perhaps... Perhaps it is not our duty to spread the love to all we meet.... but the certain one... To kindle it and let it blossom like you toch does with the flowers."

'Maybe not,' Sevati allowed, after listening to him carefully, and thinking before she replied again.
'And not everyone is the same. Not all Flutters are the same, I said when we first met about my having to give flying lessons to the last one that I met. So he was not as open as we are. He'd not yet experienced that joy. So I think that not all Kalona's are the same. I'd like to hope that there are some that are not so lost into darkness that they cannot feel love.' she swallowed thickly, quite overcome with her next thought.
'How can there be some that do not know any kind of love? The heart feeling, the lightness and feeling of being full of joy.' she fanned her face, trying to compose herself.
She looked sidelong at Rohannon when she was able to - what his meaning? 'And which certain one would you want to kindle your love with then sir?'she smiled up at him.

"Nay, forgive me, Lady Sevati. I did not mean to imply that everyone of a kind was all alike. There is as much difference between two flutters as night and day in some instances. Granted, more is the pity if one is like you have described and so removed from their heritage that they are not even aware of the gifts their birth granted them."
"Perhaps there is even a stray Kalona with the capacity to love. But I have not seen one myself, and in their case, perhaps it is better to err on the side of caution. For just as fey magic fills us and we call this land our home, so do monsters. Although, my lady, as one of such gifted blood, it is my duty to protect." He dipped to one front knee suddenly with a whish of his tail.
"I do hope that it never comes to such a ghastly situation... but my lady, Sevati, I would defend you. But I would much prefer to take you in my arms than to take up arms." He risked stealing a glance upwards.

'Do you think we are as different as night and day then?' Sevati teased Rohannon playfully. As enjoyable as the discussion was, she wanted to steer them towards things of a much more fun nature. Or maybe she was just getting light-headed on the pollen.
'Well you won't find me disagreeing there, I know that however magical our land is, there are those with a capacity to do much harm to others. To kill even,' she shuddered at that mere thought, but her mood lifted straightaway at the stallion's bow.
'Goodness...' Sevati felt her nose grow warm, the flush of blood would probably have coloured it pink, flushed with happiness at his actions and his ardent words.
'Sir Rohannon, I think I would be honoured to have you as my knight and protector.' she dipped her head, 'kissing' his nose with hers.

"Nay, my lady. I do not believe that you and I are so different. Surely, we have our differences, but your noble blood shines so strongly thorough you. You remind me in a splendid way of my own mother and sister. In your grace, your beauty, and the pure milk-white of your body and luxurious mane." Rohannon did not seem to mind the direction of the conversation at all.
And with her 'kiss' Rohannon seemed to become bolstered with enthusiasm. A spark kindled in his eyes and he rose - ever so subtly and gracefully, to press back against her soft nose in a passionate expression. "And truly, Lady Sevati. It would bring me no greater pleasure."

'So you like me then?' Sevati asked, it was probably a very obvious question given that his nose was still pressed firmly against hers, but she said it with a twinkle in her eyes, and a teasing note in her voice.
'It would seem,' she went on, rubbing her nose lightly on his before pulling away, colour high in her cheeks. 'That there is much magic about today, bent on playing cupid.' she smiled. 'Do you think that it has succeeded?'
She found Rohannon very handsome it was true, and could carry a conversation. Maybe she was just carried away with the pollen, and a heavy dose of late summer lust.

"Like." Rohannon began airily. "Such a frivolous term, my lady. You have captured the entirety of my attention as if - like you said - Cupid himself had pierced my soul. Perhaps it was that cunning magic that brought us together this enchanted afternoon. But whatever the reason, I thank the spirits." He delivered the line with conviction and honesty.
For while they had truly only met hours before, Rohannon did indeed feel captured by the lady - her beauty, her striking resemblance to his own family line - which were some of the few other soquili that he truly respected. In his eyes, this stunning figure was the epitome of his fairy princess. A flutter like he- gifted with the magics of their fey ancestry - and a brilliant, shining white. A quality that he had always admirored. She seemed dainty - truly a maiden to protect - and yet fascinating. She did not turn up her velvet nose as his opinions on the world. And she followed along with his ramblings. And, more than that, she made him smile. Her soft giggles and her love of life that seemed to bubble over in her movements - from the flutter of her wings to the way he had found her zipping along like a hummingbird. Truly, Rohannon was enchanted.

'Oh so you do like me then,' Sevati giggled, teasing him. 'Rohannon..I'm not sure if I can express myself in so pretty and ardent terms as you have. Because I'd like to, I'm sure it was no small coincidence that we met today.' she reached out and lipped a length of his long mane.
Sevati wasn't sure if her feelings were quite so firm as his yet though, she didn't want to speak dishonestly to him. He was attractive, that she'd already admitted to herself, and told him. He had wit, and definately passion. Life was for living, and seizing of perfect moments. And she'd already told him that she wanted him to be her protector.
She took to the wing in one twirling, swift movement, the draft from her wings whisking a shower of petals up, watching them dance in the air and then drift slowly down around Rohannon. She rejoined his side as they were still falling, looking at him from under a petal that had caught on her head and smiled. 'Sir Rohannon, I can think of no one else that I would see by my side, today and for the days to come.'
It was suitably vague an answer, but also truthful. She couldn't see beyond today, because the present was what she lived in. But, if she was to fall in love, to properly experience it with her whole soul, she thought that he was a suitable recipient for her heart.

"Words are not needed, my lady. The show of affection can be displayed by more than mere words, which are nothing but whispers on the wind, carried away after the brief moment that they fluorish. It is the memory that they leave that is eternal."
He smiled, watching her gracefully perform her aereal maneuver and stepped to meet her under the falling petals. A slight chuckle bubbled out as one of the petals alit on her head. He gently took it between his lips and drew it off of her head, holding onto the petal for a moment. "My lady's favor." He breathed, holding onto it like a prize. "It would bring me nothing but honor and pride to be by you side."

'Oh, I think I can do that..I can show you my own brand of magic, if we can find a place quiet enough and away from any prying eyes.' Sevati looked up at Rohannon, her eyes catching his and smiling slowly. So what if this was just heady intoxication, lust at first sight?
She was seizing this moment with both wings and all four hooves, besides, his looks still did send her heart fluttering, even after talking for so long with him. She let out a little breath, puffing the petal so that it tilted up, and giggled.
'Come Rohannon. We'll find a place to secrete ourselves, and we can be by each other's sides.' she winked cheekily.

"My lady, your wish is my command." Rohannon murmured back, the golden light of the filtered sun and shining flowers captured in his eyes. Perhaps it was the flowers that had cast this lusty spell on the two soquili. Perhaps it was the blossoming of magic as Rohannon had suggested that emerged when two such noble flutters came together.
Regardless, Rohannon was not about to fight the situation that whatever fates had brought him to. Nor did he have any desire to.
He let the shimmering mare lead him to this veiled place. Truly, this day of summer was magical. ((And should that be a wrap/fade to black? smile ))
