"Oh, those were some of the first ones we learned. We put them on everything, I think." Delucca explained with a smile. "And yeah, I guess I could make money off of it. I tend to not worry about such things, I mostly do it for fun. I get a pretty good paycheck at my regular job."

So far, this seemed to be a pretty nice date. Greloren and Quill were pleasant and Delucca was actually having a decent time. And they hadn't even ordered yet. Though that may just be the staff being very busy.

Greloren chuckled. "Makes sense. Don't want the fragile things to break." He grinned. "But that also rules out the whole 'you break it, you buy it thing'." He had an idea that a lot of shops did that as a sort of scam. After all, why else would they place those fragile items within the reach of children? Or... little dragons...

"Well, that may be a way to get money off of people, but when it's a choice between suiting greed and getting something I worked hard on that is pretty much one of a kind destroyed, I choose to protect my creation." Delucca grumbled darkly. "My classmates may be able to make multiples of their work and repair it quickly with magic, but I have to work my a** off for what I make and I'm not about to destroy it to make a few quick bucks I don't need."

Honestly, it was a bit of a sore subject with her. Some of her classmates decided to pick on her for not being able to make millions of copies of whatever she made using magic.

Shaking her head quickly, she smiled a bit again. "Sorry about that. That part of the matter is always a bit sore with me."

Greloren could tell he'd hit a sore spot and winced inwardly a bit. Oh well, how was he to know? "It only takes a few to make a bad name out of something." He shook his head. "And often times those few don't realize what they've done to a bunch of honest people."

"So what other classes were you thinking about?"

The woman didn't hold the thing against him. He hadn't known, and it wasn't his fault anyway. Stupid stuff was stupid stuff, no need to let it nag too much.

"Well they have Voodoo Painting, Mystic Metalworking, and Charm Crafting. I don't quite know which I'd take, if any of them. They do sound interesting at the very least." she told him with a nod. "Oh and there's Underwater Basket Weaving or something to that effect. It sounded kind of funny."
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 4:34 pm

"Hmm... those last two sound neat. Well, other than the basket weaving. That just sounds.... very interesting. But the metalworking and charm classes sound like fun. Especially if you like working with glass." He gave a shrug.

Quill gave a soft chirp. Perhaps in protest of the topic of conversation moving off of him or perhaps just because he felt like adding to the discussion. Who knew?

"Yeah, the basket weaving thing sounded impractical and silly, but quite amusing. I hear the charm crafting class will involve jewelry making." She said with a nod.

Glancing down at Quill, the rainbow haired woman smiled. "Feeling left out there, hm?" she laughed, scritching him gently.

Taking a look around, she decided to comment on something she'd previously been thinking. "Does it usually take this long for them to take orders?"

"That makes sense. Charm bracelets and whatnot." Yup, there was a male's reasoning on that. He chuckled at Quill. "Silly bugger."

Quill chirped, happy to be getting attention again.

"I dunno. I've only been here once before..."

As Greloren's statement trailed off, a rather hectic looking young woman appeared at their table. "Sorry, sorry." She pulled out a notepad and pen. "What can I get you two to drink? We've also got Boston Cream Pie as today's special."

Greloren glanced back at the menu, something he'd stared at but not really read. "Uh, just plain coffee for me..." He glanced up at his date to see what she wanted.

Delucca's reasoning on what sort of things were made in a charm crafting class extended to about the same level, though that wasn't quite what the class was to be. However, she didn't have much time to consider that as the woman arrived at their table.

"I think I'll have a coffee with milk and sugar, and maybe I'll try a slice of that pie." she said with a shrug. The waitress didn't feel like being too hard on their server, the harried female reminding Delucca of quite a few of her co-workers on their first days. However, one to always like a little something sweet with her drink, she couldn't resist the pie. Though, hopefully, it'd be as good as the stuff at Sparkle till Wednesday.

"So, what sorts of books to you read?" she asked the man, turning back towards him after the waitress had left. He had mentioned liking those.

"Hrm... pretty much sci-fi and fantasy novels. I've read some other stuff, but those are my favorite categories." Which meant, of course, that he owned many of those sorts of books... which were stacked in not-so-neat piles in his apartment.

"What about you?" He just hoped her answer wasn't romance novels... why women read those, he had no idea...

"Same here, sci-fi and fantasy. Though I do find that books on mythos and legends from other cultures to be quite fascinating to read every now and again." she commented with a smirk. "I read histories and some mysteries too-hell I'll try to read most anything."

A thought struck her then and she had to add "except romance novels-particularly the kind featuring milkmaids in flowy dresses on the covers. Those are just pointless and mind numbing." she made a bit of a face at that. "Disgusting."

Greloren couldn't help but laugh at that. "I don't get those romance novels. I'll read most anything, really, but I find myself gravitating towards sci-fi and fantasy. Mysteries are good every now and then... and scary novels are fun, too. Especially on dark, stormy nights." Yes, he was just a touch strange...

Delucca laughed deeply at that. "Yes, that is one of the best times to read them. Or to read a mystery. It adds to the atmosphere of the whole thing." she agreed with a nod.

Surprisingly, at that point, their server was returning, carrying her tray rather awkwardly. The girl didn't seem experienced, and her technique for holding the thing and walking would require improvement. It was due to this that she ended up becoming unbalanced when she tried to move the tray to one hand so she could pass out it's contents to them.

Years of working in the business she had gave Delucca the insight to know exactly what was going to happen when the girl started to shakily transfer the tray as she walked. Almost instantly she was halfway on her feet, a quickly barked "Watch out!" as she took hold of the tray with one hand and the girl's arm with the other, in an effort to avoid the coming trouble.

Though Delucca managed to keep the girl from falling on their table and saved the drinks, the pie was another story. As that had been what the younger waitress had first removed, it ended up falling from her hand as she had begun to fall.

The end result of the whole fiasco was Delucca standing, knees bent, holding a tray above her shoulder with her left hand, and holding the other girl's shoulder to steady her with her right. It also resulted in the piece of pie separating from it's plate and landing on top of Quill, coating the gray dragon with Boston Cream Pie.

Greloren chuckled at Delucca's comment. "That it does. No sense in reading a scary book at noon with all the lights on." He nodded sagely, then jumped a bit as their server returned, nearly dumping hot coffee onto everyone's laps.

The man could only watch as the slice of pie flew through the air to land with a plop on a rather chubby little grey dragon. As the server started to freak out, apologizing and thanking Delucca at the same time and promising to bring them another slice of pie, no charge... a rather content little dragon gave a happy chirp and poked his head up to look at Greloren.

Greloren sighed. "You're supposed to be on a diet," he muttered to the grey, who happily ignored the comment and nibbled on some of the pie nearest his mouth. The half-elf took his coffee mug as it was set down (rather gently) by the girl and sipped it. Well, this was certainly not an uneventful date...

Delucca shook her head and sat down, taking her drink as well. She'd given the younger server a bit of advice about ways to improve her balance before handing the tray back and now she was content to sip her drink.

"Well, at least someone's enjoying himself." She said jokingly, glancing at the dragon. "You get a free slice of pie because of that mess. Silly thing." It was both honest amusement at the creature and an attempt to lighten the mood.
