She barely restrained laughter that was tempting to burst from her maw. But then, that would defeat the purpose of the feather being in her mouth, because she'd surely drop it without warning, then the juvenile would probably have enough time to snatch it from her and dart before she had time to catch up to him. So a broad smile replaced the laughter, the mocking expression easily readable on her amused face. This defiantly made up for throwing a fit then getting her way. She was getting her way without doing it, she thought.
All Seriti did was flick her tail, swerve around, and trot away. But of course...
"Come and get it, pretty boy," She challenged as the feather was twirled slowly in-between her teeth. "Lessee how fast you really are."
Obviously, she was going to dart away as soon as she said that. If he managed to catch her, she'd be in a lot of trouble. Of course she would also try to fight him off. Once she touched this feather; it was her's. All her's, not his, anymore.

Tsotsi stared, seething as the pup darted away. His mind went numb. It felt cloudy, but at the same time, clear. His nostrils flared and his ears turned back. His eyes lost their focus as he slipped into a vision that happened very quickly.
The pup was born to a black hyena. There was a word; a name that he was able to see.
Before Tsotsi had time to realize he had just had a vision, he shouted, "GIVE THAT BACK, SERITI!"
It was with a skipped heart beat that he realized he had a vision. Tsotsi swallowed and shrugged it off. He hated his visions. At least this one hadn't been of bad things... His chest heaved with heavy breaths and he stumbled after her, somehow sapped of all strength to run. His red eyes watched the pup, waiting for her to stop. To his surprise, it looked like she was slowing down...

As he called her name, Seriti froze. She was defiantly caught off guard. He knew her name. A hundred questions ran past her as she struggled to understand how he knew her name. He didn't. She never told him. It never slipped her tongue.
Slowly she turned to look at him. A questioning glare stood on her face. She didn't understand the meaning of this, of who he was. Did he know her from when she was born? She shook her head and clenched the feather, almost forgetting the thing was in her mouth.
"How?" She called to Tsotsi in irritation. "How do you know my name." She demanded loudly, fur fluffed up protectively.
The way he acted was strange; he had run, yes, but what was the reason for this behavior? She knew running from running. "Here," she spat at him. "have your feather. It's no use to me as long as it's covered by blood that has stained your muzzle."
She spat the feather out ruefully, eyes dancing with the feather as it landed on the ground. She was tempted to step on it. She didn't.
Instead, she turned and hurried back, unable to stand this hyena or the retorts he said.

There was a mixture of emotions Tsotsi felt as he watched the pup drop the feather and run.
He was happy to have his feather back, for one thing.
The other emotion was strange...He had been, albeit secretly, happy to see another hyena after so long. To talk to someone who could talk back was something he had missed. Even though he broke his vow, he was somehow grateful for the encounter. Even though the pup had been a brat, she was someone to talk to. And he felt a pang of loss at the sight of her retreating form.
Absentmindedly, still thinking about his vision and about the pup he had just met, Tsotsi stepped over to the feather and collected it in his mouth.
So he had scared Seriti off...
Well...It was probably better that way.
Tail giving one last lash, the hyena turned and walked on into the dusk.
