In a way, she sensed some of herself in him. Coming and going, that sounded exactly like her own life. Minus the friends, of course. Whatever shelter she could find was her home, be it the base of a hollow tree or an abandoned burrow or even the open air. But she'd never learned how to climb. That was why she realized she'd never reach the high leaf world she sometimes wanted. But that was okay. She was okay. "Not really," she responded to his question. "I don't live anywhere, either. Not in particular. Wherever I can find shelter for the night. Otherwise, I just wander around and watch things."

((susan just clawed my eyes out, he told me he wants to teaach mostyn to climb ^^))
Susan nodded his head in understanding. he smiled softly and looked at Mostyn from the corner of his eyes, she really was pretty, but she looked sad too, maybe that's what made her so cute? he pondered that idea for a moment before asking a much lighter question, hopefully one that might lead to some humor as well. "so," he asked, conversationally, "where do you usually like to hide?"

((Hehe, that can be arranged, I'm sure. :B))
"Hide?" she questioned softly. What a strange idea. Did she seem like the type who would want to hide from things? Well, maybe she was. Always moving could be a way to hide just as easily as staying in one place. You never got attached or overly interested in any one thing. Then again, she could just be taking his friendly conversation to seriously. "Well, I don't know. In bushes, I guess." Or, that's where she would hide if she had a reason to. "Trees would work well, too, I think." Her head lifted as she sent her gaze to the leafy canopy. "But I've never been in a tree. I don't climb so well." She wondered if she'd be afraid to fall from up that high.

Susan stopped dead, and stared at Mostyn wide-eyed and mouth open. 'never learned???' he thought shocked, he thought all little kids knew how to climb!!! well, this was going to have to be amended. He quikly changed his demeanor, hoping he hadn't made her feel bad. "wait one minute." he asked trying to not let her figure out what he was about to do. he turned around in a few circles, searching out a good tree to climb before finally deciding on a nice fat one that leaned halfway up, it would be simple, it had enough branches, and then she would be able to stay up there if she wanted too as well with little no effort. Susan smiled widley and turned back to Mostyn. "I'll teach you how to climb a tree."

Watching above her, she almost missed when he stopped. When the color--other than green and brown, of course--left the corner of her vision, she realized he was no longer walking beside her. Stopping, she looked back, confused by the look on his face. Had she said something wrong? Brows furrowed as she walked the short distance that had grown between them. Mostyn was about to open her mouth when he spoke, telling her to wait. "Alright," she muttered, still slightly confused, and took a seat, watching him wander around the area. When he finally paused, examining one particular tree, she certainly didn't expect to hear what came next.
Her own eyes widened now. "Will you really?" she asked, sounded a bit tentative. Maybe she would finally be able to reach that high-up world. The place that was always moving with the breeze and catching the sunlight just perfectly. She felt thrilled, although it barely showed through her passive personality. Standing, she moved up to him and the tree he'd chosen. "I would... love that." She smiled back.

Susan smiled like he'd just accomplished something great by figuring out something that Mostyn might like. "Good, good, now, come sit over here. " Susan, motioned to a sopt just under the tree where she would be able to watch him climb, and hopefully pick up on it. he then stepped back to the base of the tree. "ok, so the first thing you have to do, is figure out a nice good spot to pull yourself up with, like a branch or a not in the wood, and if you can't well... we'll uh... we'll get to that later..." He looked up at the tree and found a good branch with in reach. he looked back to Mostyn. "do you see a branch that you think is good?"

Thinking that he must know best, she did exactly as he'd said, moving over to the spot indicated. She stood for a moment, just long enough to catch the first words of his explanation before taking a seat. When asked to judge for herself, Mostyn looked carefully at the tree. There were a few low branches, but all the ones she first chose looked too high for her to reach. About to give up and shake her head, it was only then she noticed a rather low lying branch, one she could probably reach, and one that looked sturdy enough to support her weight. She couldn't help but wonder if she would have ever noticed that branch on her own, without his prodding. "That one?" she questioned, raising a paw to point at the branch she'd finally decided on.

((I'll be in New York until Saturday))
Susan smiled at Mostyn, she'd chosen the right branch, he noded his head enthusiatically. "Go ahead and try, reach up with both hands, and use you feet to help push you up, and when you've pulled yourself up, look for yet anouther branch a little higher up. your goal is that smooth flat looking area up there you see it??" he pointed up to it, hoping she could follow his gaze. "The first branch is the hardest, so if you need help i'll be happy to give you a boost up."

((Hope you had fun! Sorry it took me so long to reply.))
Yes, she saw the flat part he'd pointed out. A look of slight worry spread across her features now, though. What if she couldn't do it? What it she couldn't reach that world she'd always wanted to? For the first time in her life, she truly felt unsure of herself. Mostyn felt a lack of understanding on the inside. She was unsure just why she was so afraid now of all times. Sucking in a deep breath, she nodded, lifting her forepaws from the ground and tentatively touching the tree trunk. Her ears slid back as she worked the muscles in her back legs. They strained, pushing her forward. Forepaws grabbed and grabbed at air until finally she was able to put a paw on the first branch. But try as she might, she couldn't get a good enough grip to lift herself. "Anthony..." she muttered, still reaching. "Help please."

Susan smiled gleefully at having finally found a person that would use the name Anthony for him instead of Susan. He was so estatic about that he almost didn't hear Mostyn ask for help afterwards. But he did, and with in a moment he was under her about to place his paws on her... flank.... uh oh... "um.... Mostyn... I'm uh... I'm gonna help you... but um... you can't hit me alright??" He looked up at her uncertainly.

((Awesome. :B *needs clothes*))
"Hit?" The strain in her voice was becoming evident. She wasn't the most athletic of females and even simply stretching her muscles like this was wearing on her. It wouldn't be much longer before she'd grow tired and unwilling. Well, maybe not unwilling, but probably unable. "Why would I do that?" It never occured to her just where he would need to place his paws to give her a boost. Of course, she probably wouldn't have cared if he'd just done it. He was only helping her out, right? And her mind rarely wandered into that kind of territory. After a while more of reaching, she let out a huff and a few words. "I won't. I promise."

Susan nodded his head uncertainly but knew that she was in dire need of a push, so... gently and awkwardly, Susan placed his paws on either side of her tail and began to push her up, she was suprisingly light weight and he was extremely grateful for that. He was also, once again, grateful for his black fur, becuase he was sure he was blushing underneath it all. As he pushed her he looked up and past and informed her "there's anouther branch with in easy reach of you, grab and place your feet on the branch you're pulling on, from there you should be able to make it up with little to no problem."

With the push, she became much more certain she could do it. After all, she didn't even have to reach now. She easily draped her paws over the branch and hoisted herself. Of course, she still had to struggle a bit to lift her back paws to the branch. And she looked rather silly when she finally did, hunched and hanging with all four paws grasping at the same branch. That hardly bothered her, however. It was evident in the wag of her little tail. Still hanging, she took a moment to look back to the male with a happy smile. "Thank you," she said quietly, obviously excited over the simple victory of reaching the first branch. She couldn't have done it without him. In fact, she never would have tried.
Looking back at her goal, she kept his advice in mind and reached out for the next branch. Back paws wiggled a bit on the branch, since it was less secure than the ground. But luckily, the second branch was closer than the first and she was able to pull herself up, back paws leaving the first branch only to push against the trunk of the tree. Only one more branch, it looked like, before she'd reach the flat spot he'd pointed out. She was so close.

Susan sat back and kept his eye on Mostyn looking out for any potential dangers that might arise. Luckilly all fo the branches around her looked pretty sturdy and were not likely to snap under pressure or her weight. his smile widened when he heard her thank him and he looked down bashfully before returning his protective gaze back up to her. "you're welcome!" he called up to her. "just keep going, it's not much farther now, and be sure to keep a good grip on the branch or else you might fall, and then i'd have to catch you." he yelled, poking fun at her, while hopefully spurring her on to continue climbing. As soon as she made it up there, he would follow her up. He wondered briefly if she would want to stay up there, or if she would want to get back down, and if so, he began to think of how difficult it might be to do that one as well.

Feeling a bit more playful than usual by this point, she had to resist the urge to look back and stick out her tongue. She wouldn't fall, that was for sure! Not after all that work. Looking thoughtfully at the one more branch before her, she reached out a paw. Unable to reach, she stretched out both paws now, grasping at air and willing her back legs to grow just a little bit longer. Ears slid back against her skull. It had looked closer just a moment ago, hadn't it? Why couldn't she reach it? Why this branch of all branches? She was growing slightly upset now. Giving it her all, she stretched her form, letting out a tiny little noise as she was able to wrap her paws around the branch. Stretched the way she was, she felt insecure. Struggling, she pulled herself mostly to the branch before a back paw slipped on the bark. Gasping, the femme clung as best she could, back legs working quickly to regain their hold. Finally on the last branch now, she looked a little shaken for a moment, but moved to continue. The flat spot was within her reach! Pushing off of the branch, she half-jumped to the spot at the split of the trunk, settling into a sit almost immediately. From up so high, she waved a paw, looking triumphant, to say the least.
