Aelia’s rising curiosity was dashed by the overall…independent self attitude that her waiting room acquaintance seemed to have taken on that stance. From what he said he seemed…less of a mystical being and more of a smiling teen just trying to ‘find himself’ whatever that was. On the other hand he seemed to recognise what and Ashe was. Was he one? Was he connected with one? A shocking thought that he was guardian to one came to mind but she put it at ease, most guardians kept their Ashe or egg at one stage, with them at all times. There certainly was none here. Inwardly she sighed she’d done nothing more than take an interest, taking off a glamour might have proved exceedingly unwise. Still, he knew something and that was…something.
She paused to think on what to say on the matter. “I know…of them. About them. They puzzle me.” She finally settled on. Lie were abhorrent to her on every level, but these were half truths, not lies. She knew of the Ashe and about them, to a certain extent. Enough to keep her always guessing about what they were and wish for more information as well as enough to have her always question the answers she found. "What about you? Do you know...anything?"
A sudden thought struck her as she began to re-think what he’d said. He wasn’t human and yet..she got nothing of a magical sense from him. It was very odd to say the least. The last few times she’d stumbled on ashes they’d given off a certain aura, she’d been able to sense them without even knowing of their presence and yet here she had reason enough to believe that this youth was one and nothing came to her. What exactly was happening?

Julien considered that for a moment. "Well," he said slowly, leaning back against the bench as he thought. "If I am an Ashe, then... they grow really fast," he offered, and though his smile was still there, it had faded some, a considering quality to it. "And at least some can use magic. Toulouse would honestly be better to ask than me, though. He understands a lot more of things."

Aelia thought on this. Yes it was entirely true Ashe seemed to grow up a lot faster than what a normal child did. Even fae, marzipan had only once ever told her, were prone to think the growth of ashe was an amazing feat. His smiled faded a little and she wondered if the topic bothered him much. She hadn’t meant to create a topic which he was uncomfortable with but her own curiosity compelled to only wish for more information.
“Magic?” She looked up at him a little when she said this, genuinely surprised. She herself knew a little magic but it was less than basic, she could do very little at the moment despite wishing to be able to do more. “What do you know of magic? Please. I’ve never seen anyone do anyone and I just thought that when you said that you…” She trailed off unsure how to continue and wringed her fingers in her lap before shrugging. “Can you do magic?”

"I haven't really tested it," Julien warned, smiling wryly, as he shifted to watch her. "But... I think I can heal. Small things, at least," he added, folding his hands in his lap. "I'm nowhere near good enough to teach anyone anything," he added. "But I'm going to get better. What about you? Do you have any special skills?"

The disappointment showed in Aelia face that she hadn't come across a valued teacher of sorts, Rioge had been too young to be of much help but even his small amount of wisdom had been of use. Apparently what she had come across though was a unexperienced healer. This at least was a small consolation, he'd definitely said then that he possessed some sort of magical ability. She bit her lip in thought. Now or never, live for the present and all that, Though if Shyer came around anytime soon she'd most definitely find Aelia's next action to be highly uncalled for.
"I can do this..." Aelia said, running her forefinger over Julien's hand. A light, yet visible dust covered his skin where her hand had touched giving his pale skin a gentle sparkle. "I don't mean to, it just does and it comes and goes in spurts. Sometimes I just walk and it falls off, other times i can go days before finding even a tiny bit on me." This was not all Aelia did though, shrugging off her glamour with an ease she'd had to practice for weeks to achieve. "I've just gotten good with a glamour." She added, meaning the child like disguise she' previously appeared as.

Clearly, though, Julien had never even heard of a glamour, for his eyes widened a bit, and he got a wondering smile on his face, reaching out to touch her hair lightly before pulling his hand back. "You're beautiful, you know," he noted, eyes dancing as he looked back at the sparkling dust on his skin. "Though I do think you're much prettier like this than your disguise."
Reaching to touch the dust, he rubbed it between two fingers. "So this dust... is called a glamour?"

Aelia blushed profusely from his comment. It was a first for her to be called beautiful. Shyer strictly forbid any kind of outing without a glamour now and even though Shyer knew it was a glamour, she often preferred to see the normal peachy skinned child the rest of the world saw. It was a vexing to see ones true self so utterly ignored and disliked by the one person who was meant to care the least about what she looked like. "Erm no, I don't know what that dust is. It's just this...odd thing that occurs."
"I don't know anyone else who has it but apparently it's related to me somehow.." he paused, rubbing her thumb and fingers together which caused a small amount of duct to fall in to the floor, though when she stopped and looked closer at her fingers the same amount of even coated dust over her fingers was there like she hadn't done anything. "A glamour is...It's like a disguise. It's so humans don't look over and see...this." She motioned to ber blue toned skin and large wings. "They don't take kindly to the obvious difference and ask unneeded question if they see me other than the way I was before." she sulked for a little though, thinking how much she should say. "Mine's week though, I don't get why you couldn' see through it right away. More powerful ones are harder to detect and can numb the effects of things that would normally hurt magical entities. In general it's like putting a mask over something, the thing behind the mask doesn't change but people only see the disguise, the more elaborate the mask, the less you see of the thing behind it.

"I never expected someone to be wearing a mask," Julien pointed out, shrugging. "Maybe that's why I didn't see through it. Or maybe I'm just weaker than your glamour. I'm still a novice, after all." The thought of being a novice, or being weak like that, didn't seem to bother him overly much, really. "But I do prefer seeing the real you. It's nicer than your fairy princess costume." His eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, and he shifted to sit back.
"Maybe we can become proper friends," he suggested. "If your guardian doesn't mind. If we do, then I can make you cookies next time we meet."

Aelia 'hmm'ed at his suggestion. It would make sense that you wouldn't see a mask if you weren't looking for a mask. "I don't...think you'd be weaker." She said, more to herself than to him. He was older and already seemed to be aware of his powers so had he wanted to he should have been able to see through it clearly. None to committed she toyed with the idea that he himself might be under a glamour despite the ignorance he professed. "Thank you. I like it better as well, that costume is very...mocking." The distress she put on the last word was evident, her eyes narrowed down in frustration while she dwelled on it, turning her head away from him.
"I'd like that." She managed a smile at his suggestion, turning to face him again.

Julien grinned widely at that, nodding. "Do you have a favorite type?" he asked, eyes gentle as he watched her. "You can come to my place and be yourself. Mir would love your wings, I think, and we don't have many neighbors, so you wouldn't have to worry about anyone else seeing."

“….Vanilla?” Aelia suggested, thinking of the delightful aroma of the crumbly cookies she’d eaten before. She gave his suggestion some thought before answering entirely, she’d decidedly given up thinking of him as some older person trying to imagine ways to smuggle her out the gallery without much of a struggle. Another idea did come to her though.
“That’d be really nice!.” A smile lit up her face but was cut shout as she voice something else. “Maybe…Maybe you could invite that Toulouse person you mentioned before? If he knows magic I wanna learn too! I wanna learn as much as I can!” Her enthusiasm showed through, a slightly more determined and less girlish expression discerned itself over her features.

"Vanilla, hmm?" Julien asked, mentally thumbing through the list of cookies he knew. He'd never heard any of them called that, but that didn't matter too terribly much, for he'd learned of more than a few websites with dozens and hundreds of recipes that he could try. One of them would surely have the recipe he needed.
He was still thinking about cookies when her suggestion about Toulouse caught his attention, and he blinked at her a couple of times before settling back on the bench with a thoughtful sigh. "I can invite Toulouse," he agreed after a moment, looking back at her. "He's a good guy, but he can be a little hard to get along with. He has his reasons, though. Can you be patient with him?"

She nodded as he repeated her flavour of choice, thinking again over some of the aromas she had smelt elsewhere. She had once smelt a rather honey-like flavour which had caused her mouth to water instantaneously. Shyer hadn't known the name of these biscuits or what they made of but her charge was rather desperate to try them.
She looked up at him, thinking of what sort of person might make even this gentle being think that they were in need of patience or 'hard to get along with' She wrinkled her nose a little. "What is he like?"

"Stubborn," came Julien's immediate answer, though he was grinning fondly as he said it. "A very good boy, I think, but definitely stubborn. He's never hesitated to help me, or be my friend when I needed him, though. And he's let me help him in turn." Though, Julien's mind added in silent reflection, he wasn't as often allowed to help Toulouse as he really wanted. But there had been that time, at pottery, that really stood out in Julien's mind...
Drawing his attention back to the girl, he smiled. "I think that's the mark of a good friendship, really... not just being willing to help your friend, but allowing your friend to help you in turn, so that things aren't one-sided."

Aelia smiled at the fondness hidden behind Julien's words. Obviously the boy was trouble but...apparently there was more than that behind whatever facade said child put up. "He sounds like a good friend.." Aelia smiled, swinging her legs back and forth on the chair with abandon. "I haven't met anyone like that..." She thought, looking distractedly at a painting while unbidden tears touched the corner of her eyes.
She blinked, surprised and when she touched her eyelashes she swept away the droplets. She starred at the water on her finger for a moment. She hadn't felt that sad. A little lonely, but she liked it better that way... "No wait. I did...once." She said, her words ragging as if she was pulling wool through a hole much too small for the material. "It was really long ago.." She paused and shook her head, trying to remember who said person was. Shyer would know, she'd ask her later.
