Wisp had gotten distracted from finishing up a little railway made of chalk that went down the path; she came back and dusted off her hands, looking pleased, and stopped when she saw everyone who had arrived. "Wow, cool!" she said. "So many people! This is raaaaad."

She clapped her hands. (A little puff of chalk dust came up.)

Ophelia looked up from her turtle, which had now spawned a whole gang of baby turtles, and looked at Wisp's railroad track. "Raaaaad," she echoed, trying the word out.

"Where's it go to?" she asked, motioning with a stick of chalk. Then she had an idea - she already had the green, after all! She moved over to the railroad and began sketching out a forest. It had birds perched in the trees, and a lonely wolf below them.

"Come on, everyone!" she declared happily. "Let's make a world!"

This was entirely fine by Wisp; not even bothering to catch her breath, she picked up the grey chalk and started doing mountains towering in the background behind the forest. The sidewalk was becoming more and more psychedelic all the time.

Kaimi looked over at Ophelia and Wisp and then grinned at them and back at Nataya. Make a world, eh? She was game. Clutching her purple chalk she began to add flowers springing up at the side of the railroad track, a veritable cornucopia of blossoms.

Nataya giggled as she head the suggestion. Make their own world? That would be awesome! She grabbed up some pale green chalk and began drawing a grassy meadow. She then picked up a piece of white chalk and started to draw bunnies in the grass. After all, what was a meadow without bunnies?

"Can you do a yellow bunny as well?" Wisp asked eagerly, seeing the fairy girl's work. "I know they're not real, but yellow is pretty much my favourite colour so a yellow bunny would be radical."

Ophelia decided that her forest was big enough. She put the green back in the bucket and picked up a stick of white chalk. Beside the forest and beneath the mountains, she began to draw a city. It had tall, tall buildings, and some smaller buildings...

"I like your rabbits," she told Nataya, glancing over as she reached for the red. Her city needed a school. And a fire truck.

Nataya paused, looking up at Wisp with a smile. "Sure!" she said, nodding. She didn't know what 'radical' meant, but it sounded like a good thing. She put the white chalk back, grabbing a piece of yellow. "Thanks!" she said, grinning brightly at Ophelia as she started working on a little yellow bunny. "I like your buildings and forest."

"Yeah, I like all the buildings in your city," added the blonde girl, "they're neat. I guess it needs a road down from the mountains, though." (A mountain pass was immediately constructed, though she also got distracted drawing a cave.)

"And clouds!" exclaimed Ophelia, picking up the white again and making some big, puffy white clouds at the top of the mountains.

"They're really tall mountains," she explained as the clouds got larger.

Kaimi had finished adding flowers to the railway and made her way back to the other girls, staring at the city and grinning. "That looks really cool... I wish we could go there for real." Kneeling down, she started adding some birds flying around in the "sky".

Carlisle, watching the rest of the group from where he had sat, decided while it looked nice enough, he would like to stay home. He didn't really take well to traveling, there were too many new people and things. While generally he liked that, going to a new world probably meant a new language, too, and he wasn't really that good at charades.

Still, after observing the process of 'creating a world' a la the other children, he thought he understood enough of it to join in. A bit belated, he said "Do you think they're tall enough to touch the sky, even?" Mindful of his pants, he knelt with blue chalk and tentatively colored in around the clouds and Kaimi's birds. Once he had read a story about a tower that reached up into the sky, but somehow he thought that that hadn't gone well. A mountain seemed like a much safer thing to have up there.

"I think it is," said Wisp, who was getting more and more excited at the collaboration -- she'd never been part of a group drawing this big before, and her eyes were shining as she took in Carlisle's sky and Kaimi's birds. "Why don't we put ourselves in, too? Like a story? Like, like maybe we're climbing the mountain, or we're walking along the railway -- we're going to go find something awesome. I'll draw -- can I draw you, Ophelia?" She was already grabbing another stick of chalk. "Where should we be that would be mondo cool?"

Ophelia thought about Kaimi's wish. If it was paint, they could go there for real. Her pictures could take them anywhere, but she couldn't name worlds done in chalk, only wet paint. Oh well. Maybe it would be worth trying later when she got home.

She smiled over at Wisp and picked up a yellow piece of chalk. "And I'll draw you," she declared, casting her eyes across the landscape and thinking. What could they be doing...?

"Let's be swimming with the turtles and the rad jellyfish. They won't sting us 'cuz they're rad." Careful of the drawing, she scooted across the blacktop to get in the right position to add to the ocean again.

He didn't know about radness being a quality that would prevent jellyfish from stinging. Actually, he didn't even know jellyfish could sting, except for Portuguese man-o-wars because those had killed a king a long, long time ago. But still! It didn't seem like being rad would change anything. "What's rad," asked Carlisle, feeling rather stupid for asking.
