Seraphim froze, he had never met anyone like her before. “Your brother sounds very wise,” he said trying to gather his wits back together. Normally he would playfully pounce about now but wasn’t sure she would welcome such a maneuver. He hesitated a moment before sighing. “I don’t know what to do or say, your like no female I have every met.”

Sohalia laughed, lifting her head to face him more squarely, her tail swishing back and forth playfully, then let it rest shortly after. She stretched her back without moving too much, letting the wave undulate down her spine and gave a soft moan at stretching. She enjoyed his innocent confusion and felt a giggle bubble up from herself again, "Surely I should accept that as a compliment then?" Her eyes twinkled, "What kind of females have you met?"

“All kinds,” Seraphim said with a laugh, “but you confuse me. I know nothing of your background and so have no idea if I will amuse or insult you.” He uttered a weary chuckle. “I may be a flirt but I try to be a gentleman as well.” He looked away from her embarrassed. “The last time I insulted a female I ended up almost being beheaded. That was Celestial’s mother.”

Sohalia chuckled and mused over his comment, "Perhaps it is well that you care enough whether you'd amuse me or insult me. I don't think it would do well for your health to anger me."
She snickered softly under her breath, "I do often find that men bring women's wrath upon themselves through their own doing." Her eyes looked up at his wondering what sort of male could possibly incur beheading by another.

“Angering someone has never done my health any good,” Seraphim said with a smirk thinking of a panther-bat he tended to irritate. A soft sigh left him. “As glade as I am to be away from her I miss everyone else.”
He blinked at Sohalia comment. “Normally that’s true but in this case it was just her being malicious. She know from the beginning that I had no interest in being her life-mate and agreed she wasn’t interested if forever. At least not till she fond we were going to have a child together.” He shook his head sadly. “What she did lost her Celestial.”

"So despite your fine feathers for easy travel you are quite home sick and settled are you?" Sohalia couldn't help grinning and thinking it quite quaint, though one part longed for her old wings, another felt it was a waste to not use them.
She was curious now, the story seemed so similar yet not. She was rather piqued by him not wanting to be mated, she found that a most desirable quality in a man to not want to settle down as it were. "So what could a mother do to lose her child? Who should say any abandonment of the child to the mother is deserved?"

Seraphim stretched his wings. “Settled? No I don’t think so, even now I search for a way home. There appears to be some kind of barrier that separates this world from my own.” Settling his wings he looked wishfully at the sky. “Until I know what danger lies here I dare not fly.”
“When it became apparent that the council would not approve her wish to force me to marry her, she tried to kill Celestial.” He looked down at the ground. “I dared not give her a chance to try again and took Cele to where she would be safe, the one place her mother would never look. I took her to the humans.”

(Pssst, Cat, I hate to be a pain, but can you use a darker color for him? It wasn't so bad reading it from home but when I'm at work I'm like wha---? sweatdrop Sorries.)
"Well you sound wiser than you appear, but you are correct there is no way to return. This land is meant to be a refuge for ourselves and the spirit of memories we keep. As for the flying..." She smiled that beautiful yet mischievous grin at him, "Fly all you like near here. The skies belong to my family as well in this area, we patrol."
Sohalia had thought she heard most devious things an individual might do with pure malice in their hearts, but a mother attacking her own young was even too much for herself. "That is disgusting... No mother should ever turn upon the flesh and blood she birthed." She gave a very disdaining sniff at the thought and her eyes were quite piercing just then. "At least she is safe, but she is beyond this land then... in many ways more than one.... so are you parted from her ever more?"

(Is this better?)
“Perhaps in normal circumstances but the humans I took her to are guardians of my kind, chosen by the very forces that birthed me and mine,” Seraphim said with a fond smile thinking of the mages. He chuckled suddenly. “I’m sure its only a matter of time before I see Celestial again.” He frowned relysing that all this time he had been talking about himself. “I’m sorry, I’m being very rude. Do you have any children Miss?” A soft laugh, “I don’t know your name and never gave mine. My name is Seraphim.”

Sohalia watched him as he spoke, he seemed distant and yet aware at the same time. As he gave her his name a playful grin played on her lips, "Oh we're to have pleasant conversation now are we?" She got up, stretching out every muscle in her body, making the light catch just right on every sparkle in her fur. Then walked past him, letting her tail caress across his wings and she gave an envious sigh. "Seraphim." She said plainly with a curious twinkle to her eye that spoke volumes of mischief.
"Surely you wouldn't begrudge a girl some water to wet her thirst if you wish to talk so?" She was heading in the direction of her old home, just downstream from it so as not to expose her family's new homes. "It's a ways, so come along if you wish."

Seraphim shivered as her tail caressed his wings. He hesitated reaching out with his senses and feeling nothing dangerous followed her. As he walked he felt a twinge in his wings telling him he had been grounded to long. Remembering what she said about it being safe to fly here he made up his mind. “I’m sorry but I must stretch my wings before I lose the use of them.” Unfurling his wings he launched into the air. Keeping her in sight he enjoyed the chance to soar once more.

Sohalia chuckled as he took off, never thinking once that he should be begrudged something she herself would've happily taken to as well. She arrived at the pool, partaking of the water, then used her tail to attract several fish close by as she took her pick in clawing two out, one at a time. She sighed, they were quite small compared to partaking of the fish from the center of the stream when she could fly, but they would serve. She relaxed, stretching out at the edge of the grass before the banks of the stream, the two fish barely flickering and her tail swayed back and forth, throwing off sparkles as it did so.

After one last loop-de-loop Seraphim decided that his wings were stretched and started to land. He glided down slowly coming to a stop next to Sohalia. His wings still spread were all puffy and wind blown. With an embarrassed shake he settled the feathers and folded his wing. Glancing at the pool he asked, “Is it safe to drink?”

"Well, I haven't dropped dead from anything wrong with it, so I'd have to say yes." She chuckled softly and sat up to offer him a fish. "It's not much but all I can offer. If you want something bigger, perhaps you can use those wings to fish from the deeper parts of the stream."
She didn't bother waiting for his decision and began to eat her own fish. Small as it was, she ate neatly and cleanly, like a precise dance and did not make any mess, using her claws to cut it into manageable bites.

‘Her sense of humor is a bit strange,’ Seraphim thought to himself as he bent to take a drink. He looked at the fish somewhat startled. “Thank you, that’s very kind of you,” he said taking the fish carefully. He delicately tore of pieces of the fish with his beak, being part eagle did have its advantages. He looked up watching her with a soft smile. ‘She really is quite lovely.’
