...birds creep over tin roofs, like criminals with tap shoes... I Hear Thunder
The darkangel series by Meredith Ann Pierce. The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams. And a book by a Swedish author, Per Nilsson, and the book is called Hjärtans Fröjd, that one i have read over and over. My last copy was in very bad shape, when i lent it to a friend, and never got it back. :/
But Theres No Rain ...stain the glass with windows, extortionate and cold stare...
LotR, Eragon, Ella Enchanted, or basically any book that has hooked me. I go right to my old favorite parts, and I feel better. LotR is my favorite for comfort though.

For me it's any book in the Discworld series. The humour, characters and in the later books the musings on humanity just cheer me up immensely.
