"Yep!" he said, following her inside and then to sit and watch the rain. He folded his ears back as Lightning flashed across the sky in anticipation of the thunder. It rumbled through the clouds loud enough to reverberate through their little hideout, vibrating the ground under Gossimer's paws. "That Lightning must have been close," he commented.

Lilith froze stiff when she saw the lightning. As soon as the thunder sounded, she clung to Gossimer, shaking with fright. "C-close?"

"But it wont hit us," he said, "You can tell how far away it is by how many seconds you can count between seing the lightning and hearing the thunder." As the next lightning flashed he counted aloud, making it to five before the thunder followed. "See? It's still five miles away, or was it five kilometers? Either way, that's a long way," he said with a reassuring smile. She reminded him of a frightened bunny rabbit, making him tempted to stroke her ears to calm her down.

She carefully listened to him count. "Five miles?" She stared outside again. "I guess that's pretty far, huh? No need to be scared." She reluctantly let him go. "You sure are smart."

Gossimer shrugged, "I just listen to Neko sometimes when she talks about the weather, she's somewhat obsessed with it..." He was almost sad that she'd calmed down, now he couldn't stroke her ears all bunny-like...

Lilith looked at him questioningly. "Neko?" She said the name and it sounded more like 'hiccup'. She flipped her tail over hers, still wanting to be close to him.

"My owner," he said with a smile, "She's an odd human being..." He looked out to the rain again, his ears going back as a particularly loud clash of thunder rang through the air.

"Oh, my human is named Se-" As soon as she heard the thunder, she forgot what he said about it being enough away. It didn't matter how far away it was. It sounded terrifying! She clung to him again shaking and now shivering from the cold.

This time he couldn't resist, his paw reaching up and stoking her ears with a will of its own. "I-I'm sorry," he said, quickly retracting his paw and sitting still again.

She looked up at him, her teeth chattering. She made a cute confused face. "S-sorry f-for what?"

"N-Nothing," he said, noting her chattering teeth, "Are you cold? We could try and start a fire..." There was a small hole where the heart of the trunk had been to allow for the smoke to filter out, and he had already dug out a pit under it and stored some dry branches in a side cavern. He had been working on making this his home.

She nodded in response. "A f-fire would be n-nice," she got out around her chattering teeth. "W-what about wood? It's t-too wet." She hadn't noticed the side cavern earlier and so didn't know about the branches stored there.

"I've got plenty," he said, padding over to the cavern and dragging out some kindling and a few logs to keep it going once they got it started. He set the kindling in the pit in a kind of teepee and put some dried grass and leaves under it, making sure he had some small twigs and stems as well. Pulling out some flint stones he struck them together until the sparks finally got the tinder to start. When the smaller sticks had caught sufficiently on fire he added a few larger ones and leaned one of the logs against them, shivering a little himself as the fire began to warm the room. He smiled at Lilith, "Is that better?"

"You really are smart," she smiled as she began to feel warmer. "Yes, thank you!" She frolicked over to him and wrapped her blanket around them both. "You're a wonderful fire starter!"

"I'm not that-" he paused and turned a little pink as she wrapped her blanket around them. He sat still again, then smiled and replied, "You're welcome."
