You haven't posted anything wrong my friend, I've been having some internet problems lately, add two jobs, a relationship, diet/exercise, and hardly ever a real day off, and I haven't had a whole lot of time to get caught up and actually work on anything for the guild. It blows! Anyway, I dig the sword! I collect weaponry and have a dozen or so decorating a wall in my living room, as well as a suit of Lorica Segmenta armor chilling in a corner; so this really appeals to me. The chain with the broken heart is a very nice touch! I'm a big fan of myth and legends of olde, and seeing something like this makes me think of those, like what is the story behind this sword? Who wielded it in what battle? How was it lost? etc etc etc. I love that sort of thing.
From an artist perspective though, the sword seems a little flat and 2d, and the heart and chain have more of a rounded 3d look to it. It's not a bad thing, but I think you could incorporate that 3d into the sword somehow and really bring it to life! I think I would use this drawing as a template and incorporate that 3d aspect into another drawing and I'm confident in your abilities that you could make it seem like you could lift it right off the page.
Speaking of swords and names and legends, ever check out the Kit Rae collection of fantasy swords? I own one, and I drool over the others. They're pricey but really make good decor, and come with a story and a poster as well. If I can find some pics of the posters I'll gladly link them to you, I think you'd really enjoy them. Keep up the good work! Feel free to post a gallery here of your own, and let people know in the New Submissions thread in the main forum so the other members will know to come check out your work.

You collect too? Nice. I think I see what you mean by the whole 2-d 3-d thing. All I did was draw it. Didn't think about the depth of it. I could come up with somthing. I almost drew a counterpart to this one, one that wasn't broken, but decided not to meddle with somthing I did so well on the first time. You said Kit Rae collection? I haven't heard of it till now, but I'll look it up. Sounds real nice. Again, thanks, & I'll work on those dimentions. All I ever pay attention to is symmetry. Little hard to on people when one arm is way behind the body & the other in front. I'll start right now. Got nothing better to do at the moment!

Cool, and good luck! I have a rough time drawing people.. so bad in fact that I don't even bother trying anymore. One thing I found works pretty well is to just get a blank page, and just draw whatever you're attempting over and over in various positions and from all different angles and sides to get a feel for it. I had to do that in an art class once using charcoals, the model was the teacher's dog who wandered around the room. We had seconds to jot down a sketch before she moved again and we had to start on an entirely different drawing of the dog. The hardest part was when she'd come right up to me and I had to turn from my drawing to look down at her. Great experience though. Yeah Kit Rae is pretty cool. I'm surprised there isn't some sort of novel written about the characters and swords in the collection since every one of them has a story and they all seem to be tied into one big central theme. I know The Knife Shop stores at most malls carry a few in stock, but you can always google it. There's quite a few and new ones come out regularly. www.budk.com has several too I believe.

"Those who revel in the brilliance of the Sun,"
(This is also posted in the Hand Drawn Gallery) Hey there! I'm back! Sortof. I don't entirely have any new work, but I am working on it! I have a head drawn so far on something I'm doing now, but having more trouble than usual with drawing the body. This is actually going to be more difficult than usual. But I'm still here. Just working a bit slow is all. So, how do you like this new colored version of my character? It's colored pencil, but that's all I have right now. Dang, I also keep forgetting to change the sword in her hand. Later though. Hope you like. Though I still will do this better some day. here it is!
BTW.... Her skin is actually more pale than this picture, but I couldn't just leave the skin areas white. So I had to color it, and it turned out darker than I had wanted. But at least I tried!
