At least you're continuing, that's better than what some of us are doing biggrin

I know the feeling. The non deadline idea with me is working as I pencil all my ideas to make sure nothing's going wrong.
But as Nefas said, at least you are continuing.

Okay, so I did a bit more writing last night. If anything, I now know that I need to give part II more substance. Not only is it a very short section, there is little to illustrate the gang war going on. I need to add more shootings, and that's what I've been doing. Now, I need a scenario for my crime boss' right hand man to get seriously wounded following a drive-by.

It's great when you're able to figure out what needs fixin' in your story. It's way better than having no idea and completely tossing the thing aside. I can't tell you how many times I've done that - started a story and gone nowhere with it - I didn't give it any time to grow into something awesome.

It's great that you're writing, and don't worry about deadlines. Sometimes you just need to throw those out the window and work at your own pace. Oh! Small deadlines help also! 10,000 words by a certain time is a lot, but if you think: '2,000 words a week' well, it's not so hard to do and the pressure is much less.

Keep it up!

I'm adding anoter part between "Angel's Away" and "Gutter," in which Helen is 16 and adjusting to life in the gang. She'll get support from Xander, for the most part, and will continue to learn that this is not the life she wants.

I just realized with my previous plan there is a 2 year gap in the story, which is longer than otehr time skips. There's also more to be told in that year.

I plan on writing two chapters tonight as well as work on one essay and my summer reading thing. I'll be busy tonight.

Ah, damn. I've hit a snag.

You can trounce that snag! I believe in you!

I need to take a hiatus to get some schoolwork done. I'm mostly done with my summer obligations, at least. But once I start school again I need to work on a big assignment that's required for my graduation. Kinda takes priority over my leisure writing. I'm taking another all-nighter to work on some things tonight.

First math lesson of the school year:

Homework + 1 chapter of an extracurricular writing project = hands in pain.

The hiatus is obviously broken. I've written two chapters since I made that post.

I redid my chapter outline. I now have a projected 46 chapters in my 6 parts to the story. Still jumping around from scene to scene, and I'm planning out one scene in my head. Helen, one of my mains, is going to hit on a supporting character only to be rejected.

I've hit another snag for my last chapter of part 2 and it's really bugging me.

Gah, snags always suck.
I hope everything gets better and we know you can do it. Just put your mind to it.

Character interactions like that are easy to snag. I just blew over a similar situation myself this afternoon.

I am LOVING your Betty Boop avi! That's adorable ^^.

That wasn't really the snag I had, but I got over it all the same.

And thanks, Savin biggrin

I'm now working on a full synopsis of this story. I've changed a number of plot points so that things make more sense, which now makes most of what I've written inaccurrate. So to avoid such a thing happening again, I'm taking a break from trying to think up new chapters and am now working on the "bones" of what I'm writing.

I finished part 1 already. When I'm done with the synopsis as a whole, I'm going to go back and redo part 1.

I'm so that way; I'm a mega-defeatist! But I really admire that you're so organized about it, Atropos, even if you are breaking deadlines and having snags!

The plot thing happens to me CONSTANTLY, though, and so in my latest story I've been trying to do the same thing; write the bones first! Anatomy is srs biznes.

Goodness, if I had a nickel for every time I had to remind myself just WHAT I was writing XD.

So YAY BONES. Bones are GOOD.
