Archard sniffled softly as he scribbled into his journal furiously, eyes tired, and worried.

Archard's Journa

Something bad has happened...something really bad.

The other night I was heading to bed when I realized that Mekt was gone. I looked all over the house for him, even his secret hiding spots--nothing! I was so panicked, and it wasn't going to end there. I went outside and Adi said he'd headed out into the woods before the sun set, but he'd been sleeping and hadn't noticed him since. So we went off to look for him. Thank goodness for Adi's nose, which picked up Mekt's scent.

It seemed like we were in the forest forever, and we reached the river....well, it turns out he tried to swim across. I was so scared, I thought he'd drowned for sure. But we found him in the cave, just barely breathing, and rushed him home. After I woke up Kami, we took him to the hospital. 'm so scared. Kami says he's going to be okay, but I wish I could see him. That's all I can tell you for now, I'll keep the updates coming, though. I just hope Mekt's going to be okay....

Archard sighed softly as he re-read a journal entry he had just read, having just shortly sketched the picture of a bird he'd seen in the woods while out on a walk. That had been while mekt had still been in the hospital...

Archard's Journal

Well, things are sort of back to normal now, I guess.

Mekt finally came home today. Okay, he was there three days, but still, what happened was pretty awful. Kami says that if I'd found him any later, he might not have made it at all. That very thought scares me half to death. Mekt really has become close to me over this short time....

I've been checking his heartbeat regularly, while he's asleep. He's so adorable when he's sleeping, and I really need to be more careful with him. I still don't know why he wandered out that night. I'm sure he'll indulge me when he's feeling a bit better. Until then, I'll do all I can to aid in his recovery. Not to mention keep a closer eye on him...he certainly can be sneaky when he wants. I hope it's just a phase. It's just not healthy for the little guy to be wandering around outside at night....

Archard's Journal

Hello again...I haven't had the chance to write in many journals lately. Me and mekt just started school, and we've been sorta busy. The homework isn't hard, but we have a lot, and I always end up tired out afterwards. I don't think I like school much. Teacher's nice, but all the other kids started picking on Mekt the very first day.

It made me so angry, I could barely hold myself back from chasing them off. Mekt was really upset of course, which only made me angrier. People are so quick to judge....but perhaps it will improve. I told mekt to ignore them, the best advice I could give, aside from having him go to a teacher if he needed help and I wasn't around. Kami said that if the kids kept bothering she'd get it straightened out. I can only hope for the best.

I'd like to leave on a positive note, or try, so I guess I'll say a little about one of Kami's new additions to the family. He's a bit more...normal, than most of the animals here, and easy to get to know. I never thought Id like cats much, but this one's okay. His name's Milo, and Kami rescued him from a humane center. He's real cute, hopefully Kami will be able to teach him not to scratch up the couch and chairs.

Until next time...

Journal Entry
Dear journal...

A LOT has happened since I've picked up a pencil and made an entry. For starts....Mekt is gone. Kami said he was going to a new home. It's...really got me down lately. I haven't heard from him in such a long time, and well....I just hope he's doing okay. I guess other than that, things have been okay....

I met up with Aiden again. He's a really nice boy....and he dresses so prettily! I envy him. I remember how he said he wanted to take me shopping when we were little, and now that will soon come true. I can't wait. I've not been to a place like the mall in forever. Such a big, crowded place it is....I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure it'll be fine as long as I stick with Aiden. What could possibly go wrong, anyway?

Well...I think that's about it. On a side note, little Milo isn't so little anymore. That silly cat seems to grow more each day. I'm glad I have him to take care of...he'll always keep me company when no one else is around. Aiden has a cat too, named Cosette, and she's very pretty. I'll write all about our shopping trip in my next entry.

December 26th

The day after Christmas, it happened to be. And what a Christmas it had been. Archard had gotten nearly everything he had wanted. A few new clothes, new art supplies, and a CD player. The boy had taken the last two outside, and was now hard at work sketching Milo, who was basking on a rock. Adi sat nearby, having returned to Kami's home for the holiday.

I can't believe how much snow there is this year. Far too cold for me to be about much. He said with a shiver. But, it made Kami awfully happy, and he got to stay in the house, despite his size.

Archard smiled lightly as he watched the orange cat's tail flicker. "Yeah. I like it, it's fun to play in!" he said, tongue sticking out in concentration. He had been glad to see Adi again, and he planned to get in a few good sketches before he took off again. As he fell back into concentration, his thoughts drifted back to someone who had been in them a lot lately. Aiden. Archard wondered how his friend's holidays were faring...he would have to ask Kami if he could gopay the other a visit sometime.

Adi stuck his tongue out. Crazy humans. Not a bit of common sense in you... he snickered, tempted to flicng a bit of snow the youngster's way, but not wishing to scare the cat away.

You said it. Milo's words rang out in the winged creatures head. He was rolling around in that freezing stuff the other day. Madness! The cat's ears flickered, but his eyes didn't open. He had only just met Adi, and though he was huge and very odd in appearance, had liked him immediately, finding it interesting that they could converse in thoughts.

"It's just water! Harmless...mostly....Ah, there. I think that's good. How do you like it?" the boy held it out to Adi, then turned it for the cat to see, looking satisfied with himself.

Adi smirked, leaning his horned head down to see better. The boy had always had a knack for art. It was even better when it came to natural things. Looks good to me. Milo gives his approval as well. He chuckled, and smirked wickedly. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've been wanting to do this for the past half hour or so... the beast laughed as he whipped his tail around, showering Archard and Milo with the top layer of snow that had been laying at his side.

Archard yelped, and laughed, running for the door. "I'll get you for that! Just let me put my stuff inside!" he chuckled, watching Milo flee.

The cat skittered away through the snow, to the other side of the house, not wanting any part of their chilly shenanigans.

January 1st

Archard sat in his bedroom, propped up against the backboard of his bed, writing away. Moki was curled up on his shoulder, against his neck, snoozing away.

Journal Entry

Hello.

It's been quite the uneventful New Years. Though Kami got me a very nice coat as a present. It's like a trench coat, I guess you could say, long, and pretty warm, too. Moki likes to hide in the pockets...

I've been hanging about the shop quite a bit, like Kami encourages me to do. It's alright, I suppose, and I know a good number of the other boys now. I think I've sort of befriended one of them, a young man by the name of Malachite, or Mal. We didn't meet in the happiest way...and as much as a dislike confrontations, I couldn't stand by and watch someone be abused in such a way. I couldn't believe how much of a ruffian one boy could be(his name is Samsara). He went to far as to injure poor Mal, but thankfully enough there was a healer in our midst, and he was attended to right away.

I don't think I much care for that Samsara, though I do hate to be judgemental. I only hope one day that he'll change perhaps, or, as Catzi said, meet someone who will make him want to change. His brother, on the other hand, seems to be a much calmer creature than he, even though he managed to givve me a bad scare last night. All in good fun, I suppose....

On a side note, Kami has managed to bring more creatures into this household. It's sugar gliders, this time. I didn't even know any even lived in Gaia. But they certainly are cute. There are several of them, but I've become taken with a lightly color female named Moki. She's very sweet, and insists on sleeping in my coat pockets whenever we go out. I have my doubts about them being normal gliders, because they seem so much more clever than something so small would be. But...I guess there are few things that are normal in Gaia....

February 7th

Archard sat in the shade of the house, scribbling in his journal, Moki perched atop his head, two other gliders curled up on his shoulders, all seeming to be napping in the warm heat of the afternoon. Archard was busy writing up the latest journal entry. He'd managed to meet another one of Kami's bizarre adopted 'children'.

journal entry

Hello there...

I can't believe how fast time can fly, sometimes. Quite a bit's happened in the past month, perhaps the reason I haven't really gotten to write much.

A rather large incident has happened within the house, it seems...Kami never told me there was a vampire living in the house. I hardly ever noticed until she told me who it was...that odd, scrawny man with the scraggly blue hair...even then I've only seen him here and there. Serves me right for being so shy...I really should work harder to know more of the people who live in this house. Or used to. Kami says a lot of them live in their own places now, like Kochi, and Kazuo. Perhaps it's better that I didn't know in this instance. Now that I look back, Buuk was a pretty creepy looking guy.

I never got to know what happened, but now one of the rooms in this house is off limits...locked. The room of that red-headed angel, I believe. I was introduced to him once, but like Buuk(that's the vampire), I've never really seen much of him. But, I digress.

I actually did manage to recently meet a 'sibling', I suppose I could call him. His name's Radu, and from what I can tell he's part squirrell...he lives out in the forest sometimes, and he's very interesting to observe. He weaves odd nests in the trees, strong enough to support himself, even. I've been in one, and it's very strange. He's able to use the live branches to form a basket before weaving the rest, preserving the trees while making a functional bed for himself. He doesn't have to go in the house at all!

Radu himself has black hair, and a big, red tail, and furry ears, too. Very skinny. Mom sure does know how to keep strange company...but at least he's friendly. He can talk a mile a minute, and he's very flirty. Sometimes he leaves the forest and I can't find him at all, but he always comes back eventually. Moki and his siblings love him...I suppose they are related, in a way. It's fun to watch them move through the forest...what I wouldn't give to be able to move like that. I guess I should be happy enough to simply be able to climb trees.

I'm going to add a few sketches in my book, a couple of the nests, and Radu too. He is a handsome fellow, I suppose. My mother seems to have a taste for people with animal parts...anthro, I think she calls it. It must be fairly nifty, for them. Apparently there are a lot of them in the family; they just don't live in the house.

And...that's about it. I haven't seen Aiden in a while...I'll have to remember to call him sometime.
~Archard

The boy sat back as he ran out of things to write about....life had been lazy for him the past month. He felt guilty for not writing, but now was better then never, eh? He reached up to scritch the head of the snoozing creature on his shoulder, and yawned, figuring he'd settle down for a nice nap himself, and see if he couldn't get a hold of Aiden later.

Archard sighed lightly as he scribbled in a notebook, quite bored, and mulling over the latest development in his life. It seemed Kami was going to adopt yet another addition to the already large family, and had even created in a new home for the youngster in a seperate location. He'd always wondered how the land she had come from was connected to Gaia, which was where he had always figured their house, the one he was in this minute, was situated.

Boca Raton, was the place, in a small providence, it seemed called Florida. He had been advised by her not to think too deeply about the whole thing, and to make everything simple, she had employed Grimm to create an easily accessable portal so that she did not have to travel far. They were easily created by the shadow demon, and easy to use, so no one would gripe over it. He still wondered how one would get from Gaia to Florida by conventional means. Kazuo had teased that it was in another dimension, and though that was farfetched, Archard would not count the theory out. Perhaps Gaia was it's own continent and one simply had to fly to Florida.

The boy massaged the bridge of his nose with a sigh. His mother always had to make things complicated. He didn't mind so much, except his newest 'order' worried him greatly. She wanted him to babysit the new arrival, who would come soon enough! He had complied of course...this was the first responsible thing his mother had asked of him in a long while, and the short while taking and caring for the youngster Mekt had taught him a great deal. In that essence, he had almost grown up a bit earlier than some children usually do.

He smiled lightly, remembering those days. How adorable and fun Mekt had been, along with slightly troublesome at times. It made him sad as well, wishing Mekt was still among those in the household. He would have to see about contacting him sometime, perhaps return to the mansion to see where he resided.

His mind skipped back to the task he'd been assigned. Surely it wouldn't be so bad? He thought himself good wih children, and how hard could one kid be? He would have to find out himself. Kami had given him a few tips, things the little one might enjoy, and he was preparing himself.

Kami referred to the little one as Marluxia, or 'Marly', as she had already foundly nicknamed him. The way she talked made him sound like a perfect angel, but that would be impossible. Knowing Kami, she might have agreed to adopt a little monster, as she had the habit of talking about such things in adoring tones. She was able to, after all, coax frightful creatures such as Jager and Sokanon, and Youhei as well, into letting her coddle and shower them with affection, so perhaps she saw them that way. The boy would be humanoid though, so that was all well and good.

All he'd need to do now was wait for the time to come....

April 2nd

Archard yawned lightly as he reclined in bed, getting out his journal, and a pen. It was a good day for being indoors, but most didnt think that way, since the younger kids liked to go outside. He didn't mind it so much anymore, though, and he curled up in the warmth of his covers to write a quick journal entry. It certainly had been busy about, especially since Kami was always busy herself.

Journal Entry

Dear journal,

Things have been very busy. She's adopted two more into the house, three if you count Oliver, and it's madness. I suppose she misses having little ones around, because she's certainly done a good job for filling in the gaps.

Marluxia came not long ago, and I baby-sit him regularly. He's actually a very agreeable little fellow, quiet for the most part. He's delightful to be around sometimes, because he seems to share my love for nature. He even enjoys plants and flowers, and I've agreed to help him make his own collection of dried plants. He's probably the most managable of the two I come into contact the most.

Oliver, a young camel hybrid, is watched over by Kami, for the most part. He's rather quiet as well, and sweet of disposition. He does come often though, to have a good run around outside. I suppose it's better outside here than in the apartments where they usually reside.

Last but not least, Ben, a cat boy, has come to live at our house. He is charming, but unfortunately he seems to agitate fights between himself and the demon Shahar. Before he arrived Shahar hardly made himself noticable, but I've had to break up two fights so far. He has gotten a few bad scratches, but that never seems to dampen his spirits. Hopefully they come to terms soon, for fear of someone getting badly injured otherwise.

I think that's about it for now...In other news, I haven't seen Radu around for a very long time. I hope he's alright. Probably out wandering like Mercedes does. Ah well.

Until next time!

May 10th

Archard strolled out of the house in silence, hands buried in the pockets of his black coat. It was a pleasant, cool summer's evening, and the blonde wasn't going out for any particular reason. He enjoyed being out at night, and thought he might go try and find Adiemus. He hadn't seen the dragon in a long while, and he sought to vanquish his light boredom.

Looking up at the sky, which was dotted with a myriad of stars, he gave a content, thoughtful sigh. Things had settled down for the most part in the household...regarding the new residents, at least. The tangerine kitten Kami had brought in seemed to be quieting down, and Shahar was once again keeping to himself. It was a relief to Archard, since the woman tended to rely on him, partly, to keep peace when she was away.

He talked with Ben often, and played games with him as well. It seemed to Archard the orange cat was lonely at times, and he often talked of a friend, a blue kitten by the name of Rayen. Not to mention the singing at night. It reminded him of old cartoons, though he was glad no one had thought to toss a shoe at Ben. Incredibly annoying, but Kami had put a stop to it almost immediately.

He chuckled at the thought, and jumped a bit as something brushed against his leg in the grass. Jerking his head down, he was instantly relieved. "Milo...you startled me..." he sat down in the grass to pet the big tabby. Here was his other orange cat. Milo had gotten big in the past month, and thick furred. He sighed lightly as he lay back to gaze up at the sky, petting the cat as he rubbed against his side.

Archard smiled lightly as he thought of his last meeting with Aiden. They still had a plan to shop together, and it was something he was looking forward to. He'd have to remember to call his friend later.

He shut his eyes, and listened to the night sounds, and Milo's purring, letting his mind wander, before he fell into a light doze, the cat laying quietly at his side.

May 13th

Archard cracked an eye open, pretending to be asleep. He watched the demon skitter away across the room, the journal in his hands. Instead of badgering Benjamin, the demon, for some reason, had been targetting him lately. It was getting very, very annoying. He hadn't realized who had been thieving from his room at first, but now the culprit had finally shown himself.

"Drop it."

The stern, sharp voice reached the little demon's ears, and he stopped, stiffening a little as he looked back. Caught! How had he been caught!? The blonde jerk was sharper than he looked. He hissed at his older 'sibling', wings giving a flutter. "Why should I? You're always trying to wreck my fun."

"I wouldn't consider torturing Ben and the others fun, exactly, Shahar." Archard opened his eyes to look at the winged creature sternly. "You know if you keep that sort of stuff up you're going to regret it, eventually...." Archard yawned a bit, and stretched, knowing that the threat wasn't a bluff. He wasn't about to tattle on the demon either, and he worried about the slinky fellow sometimes. He would never talk, so Archard did not know the reasons for his devilish behaviour. Perhaps it was simply the nature of demons to act that way.

Shaharn drooped lightly, though his venemous glare persisted. Though Archard wasn't the one who would dish out punishment, he knew it might come. "No one can touch me..." he hissed, and crouched down on the floor to set the journal down, knowing he had lost the argument. He'd leave for now.

"Thieves get thrown out. Isn't stealing a simple thing not to do? You don't need to steal in this place, Shahar, all you need to do is ask." he watched as the other made for the door. "Just remember that...and I you need to bother someone, go bother Mercedes." he suggested, holding in a smirk. If anyone could teach Shahar a lesson, the vampire could. With a sigh, he moved to pick up his journal, wishing there was something he could do for the demonic teen.

"Feh!" Shahar hissed, and scrambled out, his tail lashing the air as he exitted in a hurry, returning to the dark, shadowy confines of the room he liked to call his own to sulk over being scolded.

June 8th

Archard sighed lightly as he stroked down Milo's back, an unfinished sketch of the big cat sitting in his lap. Things had been duller than dull lately. Kami always scolded him to get out more, but he was so used to being alone that the thought of going out, even to the mansion, made him feel rather leery.

He should probably get in touch with Aiden, was what he should do. But...he huffed lightly, looking over at the phone that sat on the desk. It had been a long time even since he'd talked to Aiden. Perhaps he would simply pay a visit later. He toyed with the orange tail as Milo moved to curl up at his side. "You'll keep me company, at least..." he murmured, watching his pet look back up at him through placid green eyes.

He supposed he should be glad for the peace. Now that summer was approaching things seemed to be slowing down...even Shahar was getting into less trouble, though he supposed the demon was just finding his place in the house. Mercedes had taught him a memorable lesson not long ago, and Archard smirked lightly at the memory. One should never screw with a vampire, and he knew, hoped that Shahar wouldn't do it again.

Perhaps Mercedes would help tame the young demon. The vampire wasn't around often, or at least when Archard was awake to see him. He was a tall creature, with spikey blonde hair, and each time Archard had seen him, he'd been wearing a type of red trench coat. Kami said he lived somewhere else, but Archard hadn't inquired any further. It would be nice to get to know Shahar. He could tell the demon was troubled at times, and he could always use an extra friend.

Stretching with a yawn, Archard shut his eyes, letting his thoughts drift as he fell gradually into a content sleep, a hand on Milo's side.

July 8th

Archard sat rather flustered on his bed as he bit his lip lightly. He couldn't believe what Kami had invited into the house this time, though they seemed to have come from the same place he had. It figured. The poor boy had been scared out of his wits the first time he'd met one of the crazed things.

They were ghosts, to be exact, two of them. He'd been in the kitchen when the first had chosen to show itself to him, by floating right out of the refridgerator at him. He'd made a huge mess, it'd caused him to drop a full glass of milk. Thinking over it with a calmer mind, he supposed they were rather pretty, if not startling. The first, 'Wispy' as Kami called him(he was sure that was not his real name), had long, curly red hair, and eyes that gave off a pinkish glow to match. He showed himself far more often than the other, playful sometimes, and curious. He'd certainly gotten a kick out of the spilt milk.

After the initial scare the ghost had become partial to startling the poor blonde every chance it got, and it was only by chance that he had come to discover Meursault. He was much more sullen than Wispy, but they were together sometimes, Wispy trying to be 'lovey' or playful towards Meursault, to cheer him, or so Archard thought. He had't a clue what sorts of ghosts they were. They could be there one moment, and vanish the next. They appeared most often as shadows, eyes constantly aglow.

He'd tried to communicate, but the two had resisted him, never answering or flat out ignoring Archard. Though they would murmur things, sometimes, though it was never any vital information. When he told Kami she encouraged him, saying that they might pen up, eventually. They had been shy to her as well. Who were they to blame? They were dead, of course, and probably had reasons for being quiet. The red eaded one confused Archard in this way. Perhaps it was the ghost of a child, but it seemed to big to be so.

He yawned, and flopped over for sleep. He'd worry about worrying over the things later, and hope to goodness they didn't come after him in his sleep. He frowned, the very thought giving him shivers...

Journal Entry

Hello Journal.

Quite a few things have been happening recently, but I guess there's hardly a quiet moment these days in my life, anyway. Mercedes brought home a very neat pet for me. It's a bird, and he's not like any I've seen before. I wanted to ask Merc where he came from...but I haven't seen him since.

I named the little guy Ruri...srprisingly enough he's quite friendly, even with strangers. He was a little nervous at first, but I've gotten him to calm down. He looks like a cockatoo almost, with his crest, but the colors aren't quite right. He also has sharp talons, like a hawk or eagle(except his feet are a bit smaller), so I've gotten myself gloves to handle him better. Perhaps I could train him like falconers do! It's certainly something worth researching.

I've also met a few new friends recently, well one, but I met up with an old one. On my way to the grocery store I came across Malachite, whom I haven't seen in ages. I also met his friend Soco, who lives and works at Karlet's house as a maid. I must admit, he's very...likeable. If you know what I mean! *wink*

I hope I can meet them again more. I've been trying to get out and meet new people more lately, and I think I'll pay a visit to the mansion soon. I don't reall know where else to meet other GCBs.

Well, that's about it! I'll write again soon.

~Archard.
