"Miss Kelly said it's best to have friends in evens so you make it odd and everyone can share you equaly." Sliding down off her mother's lap she quickly toddled to her brother and took his hand, the two of them racing downstairs to go get pizza while mommy was being slow. "I don't want new bed Toby..."
He was already at work with an allen wrench and bolts when the familiar feel of her body pressed against his from behind. Couldn't help but grin as she pulled out the tone and proceeded to make implications. "I suppose that's better than me sitting up here doing it myself." Setting down his tools and getting himself up, turning her in his arms and pressing a kiss to her lips. "You know, I think I can make this work with them...after all, I've bene through the whole seperation thing. We could try the whistle thing."

"That makes sense until you get more than three friends." But Lici wouldn't understand that and she'd already run off anyway. Returning her husband's kiss, she dropped her own head to his shoulder and nipped his neck. "Was it just as hard on you as it is on them?" She didn't like knowing her children were upset and scared. But pulling back and giving him a grin, she grasped his hand and tugged him towards their own room. "Your mother is one step ahead of you." Reaching into their closet, she pulled out a small wooden box and opened it. Inside lay two silver whistles, identical to the ones Xearus and his twin, Savina, had had when they were young. Xearus' father had given them to the twins and instructed them to blow when they were scared and he would come.
"She had these made when the twins were born and was waiting for the right time to give them to us. You must have told her that we were separating them because she brought them over last night while you were at school." Xearus' own whistle lay in a drawer in the mausoleum, where his father's ashes were housed, where he'd lain it when he felt he no longer needed it.
He pushed the stool over to the counter so that he could pick his own slices of pizza out. "Get our plates, Lici." Taking the brightly colored plastic, he dropped one piece of their pizza on hers and one on his. Mama and Daddy ate some kind of meat on theirs but he and Lici only liked cheese, pepperoni, and black olives. "Me either. They won't make us, Lici. Mama doesn't like it when we cry."

He got that thinking look a moment as he searched back through his own memories of when he was little. "I suppose. Though she was the more protective one and the main voice on the matter. I just refused to drink blood for about a week. I can understand how hard it is to think that you can't be together every moment, awake or asleep...but you just have to be."
Letting her pull him along and quirking an eyebrow at her as she pulled out boxes and offered explainations with contents. Picking up one of the shiny whistles he gave it a look over, noticing one of the twins' names etched into the side and assumed the other twin's name was on the other. "Have to love Ma, always one step ahead. I suppose that makes it easier on us though, even when we don't want to ask for help. She has raising twin experience." Placing the whistle back in the box with a grin to his wife. "They'll eventually understand why we're doing this."
Heading to the lower cupboard that he mother set up for them to get their own plates and such from when they were feeling independent, which was full of plastic things, she grabbed two plates and headed back to her brother, handing him one and taking it back then another to repeat the process. Waiting for him to get down, she followed him back to the table where they climbed up into their seats and she handed her brother a napkin. "But then we'll be bad if we don't listen. Then she'll be angry with us..."

"You refused to drink blood?" She was extremely alarmed about that kind of thing occurring with her own children. Ever the medically minded one, she knew how devastating the effects of not having the appropriate amount of blood in their system could be to little vampires. "I think she enjoys being so knowledgeable about such things. And you know how much she likes getting things for those two. I swear she spoils them more than her other grandchildren." Shaking her head and leaving the box on the nightstand to be used later. "I hope so. I hate it when they're upset, Xe."
Mama would pour them a glass of blood when she came down; doing it himself would only get him into trouble if he made a huge mess since he wasn't supposed to handle the jug. Taking the napkin, he set it on his lap and picked at his pepperoni. "Lici, you'll be scared if you sleep alone, right?" Nodding as he continued to explain his thought process. " 'Member when Mama and Daddy didn't want us watching that scary movie that we saw anyway and even though she said we couldn't sleep with her and Daddy, we still did?" Same thing in his mind.

"Yeah. Needless to say it did wonders for my resolve when I could barely walk three days into my ittle refusal decree. I didn't make it a full weak of protest, but my parents were quick to talk us into the 'two beds is a good idea' thing. Illarion helped....told me and Savina both that we had developed cooties and we'd catch them from each other if we kept sharing a bed." Oh his brother, how he did love to torment his siblings. But a light chuckle to that before a sigh. "As for Felicity and her rolling nature...we could just get a rail for the open side of her bed. No more rolling out of bed. No worries, they'll come around. It just takes some convincing. Now come Cielo, the pizza is getting cold and I still have beds to put together and you baths to give and sleep to attend." After all, he was still on the up all night vampire fun. And coffee...lots of coffee.
She nodded almost sheepishly in admitting fashion at his fact stating. Did not like sleeping alone at all. And yes she knew what it was like to sleep alone because there were times when they had both been sick and mommy didn't want them swapping germs as she had said. "But there aren't scary movies this time." Then an even more horrified look to him as he mind was working worse things. "What if the doggies can't sleep with us anymore either?!"

"Why does that not surprise me?" Ilario had always been good at being the tormenting older brother. But he was right so she wrapped an arm around his waist and headed downstairs. The twins were involved in some kind of conversation between themselves but they both had the look of guilt painted on their faces. If she had to guess she'd say they were talking about a way to defy the separate beds mandate. Letting Xearus get the pizza, she poured four glasses of blood and carried them to the table, sitting and started eating. "Eat up you two. You both still need baths tonight."
"But you're still gonna be scared. And we wont' be sleeping with them, just each other just like always." It still worked in his mind even if his sister wasn't quite seeing the logic of it. But he frowned at hearing that and glanced up as his parents came into the room. "The doggies can still sleep with us, right?" Mercury picked up his head from where he was laying next to the table and whined as if he knew he was being talked about then walked over and rested his head on Thobias' knee.

Setting two slices of pizza each on separate plates, he brought them to the table as his wife had sad down after her own task, sliding the plate in front of her and then taking his seat with his own, starting in on his pizza in that particular way that he did indeed eat pizza.
Well he seemed quite confident in his thoughts and she was inclined to believe him. After all, how could she argue with that he was stating so plainly and matter of factly? It was like he way saying 'yellow is yellow'. "Okays..." Hushing more or less as their parents came in and she sipped on her glass of blood a moment as it had been set down in front of her. Wrinkle of her nose at the word bath though. "Can I have bubbles?" Since they didn't get baths together anymore, she could have the water the way she wanted it. Boys apparently didn't like bubbles.
"Of course the dogs can still sleep with you. I'd imagine it'd take a few chains and a well anchored post in cement to keep Caprice out of your room at night. A look over to the dog lazing by the back door who had merely wagged her tail at her name but stayed obediently away from the table as they were eating. That dog always slept in the twins' room at night and he was sure nothing would keep her out. Now how that would work when the twins got separate rooms was a mystery to him...but he'd cross that bridge when they came to it. He was sure it wouldn't be pleasant.

"Mercury. Go lay down." Snapping her fingers at him as he whined and then trotted off once more. "I'm doing your bath tonight so yes, you may have bubbles and you can even play for a little bit." She was willing to concede on nearly any point since she knew bedtime was going to bring about a huge fuss. "Daddy and I will put your beds together and then we'll work on baths, okay?"
He still wasn't thrilled at the prospect of two beds going up at all but knowing the dogs could still sleep in there made it slightly better. Caprice used to sleep in front of their crib and then in front of the door once they got old enough to get up at night. "I guess." He pulled all the olives and pepperoni off his pizza, eating those one by one but not really touching the actual slice too much. "May I be 'scused?"

Lici supposed that bubbles made her feel better...they were at least fun to play with. Maybe mama and daddy would change their minds by then about the bed thing. Or Toby would come up with his own plans and that was just fine by her. While her brother was deconstructing his pizza, she was modeling after her father and halfway through her own piece. "I still don't like it." Hey she was always vocal about what she didn't like and her parents were going to constantly be reminded of her displeasure.
His free hand pinched the bridge of his nose as he swallowed a bite, staving off the headache he could already feel building in his skull. "You know, with new beds of your own comes new other things too. It won't be as bad as you think." Good thing it was a Friday, he at least didn't have to go to work tomorrow. But a blink and a look at his son. "No, not until you actually eat something Thobias, just toppings don't count."

They were just trying to tell him that to make him feel better regardless of what the real truth was. It wasn't going to be okay but they were going to tell them that it was. "But they used the icky sauce." He pouted for a minute and then picked up his piece and took a few bites, chewing as slowly as he possibly could.
Things weren't going too well, were they? She shook her head and pointed to the glasses of blood. "You always liked the sauce before, Thobias. Drink all of your blood if you aren't going to finish your pizza."
Dinner proceeded in a relatively quiet fashion, the twins not saying much aside from complaints about the new bed situation. She finished her own two slices relatively quickly and headed back upstairs to start putting the beds together.

"Get a night off, spend it in chaos." Finishing up his dinner and letting Sam and the twins head off, he stayed behind to clean up the kitchen, put dishes in the dishwasher, put away left overs and make himself some coffee. Heading upstairs to the kids' room with his mug he set it aside on the dresser and plopped down next to this wife. "I'll take over. Might want to give Thobias a bath first, you know he likes things done and over with." And he was going to get these beds put together as fast as he possibly could.
Her and her brother were sitting in mama and daddy's room with the dogs, waiting patiently as they had been told to wait. A little worried look across her face as she played with one of her fangs and watched her brother. "You're gonna get hungry later Toby. How come you didn't eat?"

He wasn't saying too much, just sitting there on the bed with a morose expression on his face. Scratching at some random itch on his head, he shrugged. "Wasn't hungry."
She already had half of Toby's put together and was screwing in one of the last bolts on the headboard then preparing to move to the footboard. The directions were spread out on the floor next to her and she was counting out screws and bolts and pairing them off. "If you wish." Plopping a kiss on his cheek and pointing out where she was, she headed into their room. "Come on, Toby. Let's get you cleaned up and after your baths you can watch a movie in our bed until bedtime, okay?"
She took his hand and led him into the bathroom, filling the tub and settling him in. He was oddly quiet the entire time and rather lethargic as well. She thought he was being stubborn at first until she noticed the little dots appearing on his skin. "Toby, sweetheart, you don't feel very good, do you?"
He glanced at her through glassy eyes and shook his head. "I feel itchy and kinda hot."
Which would explain why he hadn't eaten very much during dinner. "Xearus!" Turning back to her son and gently pulling him out of the tub then wrapping him up in a towel and cuddling him in her lap. When his father showed up, she separated the towel to show him the tiny pink dots that were visible on his skin. "Toby's not feeling too well."

Finishing where he wife left off, he was making short work of beds. The framing was easy enough and he had Felicity's finished. Moving back to wrapped plastic he stripped it off and went about laying mattresses down on boxsprings previously placed. He was so glad they decided not to go the bunk bed route. Pausing for a break he took hold of his mug and sipped at it's contents...only to startle at his wife's call and dump hot coffee on the front of his shirt.
A few seconds of tugging at his shirt to keep the heat away from his skin till it died down some and he headed out into the hall and into their room, seeing what the matter was. An analyzing look at that boy. "Is that chicken pox?" Great.
And she was poking at said spots as her she had come toddling in because she didn't like that tone that her mother used to call her father. Mama usually used that when something was wrong with one of them. A feel at his forehead in almost motherly fashion and she wrapped her arms around him, giving him a nuzzle despite his spotty apperance. "You gots spots....how come I don't got spots?"

He started getting really itchy after they pointed out his spots to him and he scratched hard until his mother tugged his hands away. "Daddy's wet." Pointing to the stain on his shirt so that their attention would be off his spots. He was scared. "I dunno. But I don't think you want 'em."
"You spilled coffee on yourself, didn't you? Take it off and I'll treat it before the stain can set in." Rewrapping Toby and then moving into the twins' room to pull out Toby's underwear and some pajamas for him as well. "If you keep touching him you will get them, Felicity." Handing Xearus the calamine lotion and Thobias' underthings, she took Felicity's hand. "Come on, Lici. Help me make Thobias' bed and then we'll get you a bath."

"Don't itch, you'll make it worse." Frowning and looking down at himself as they pointed out his wet front. "You can't yell like that when I'm drinking coffee. You know how I get." Following back to the room he took the items and tended to his son, helping him get dressed. Though he admitted the shirt and rolled up the boy's pant legs before he shook the bottle of pink liquid and uncapped it, splashing some into his hand and proceeding to use a finger to dot pink spotches of lotion over little pink dots on his son. The boy's worried look said enough. "Don't worry, they're just itchy spots. They'll be gone in a little while, long as you don't scratch at them." Taking a moment to unbutton his own shirt with one hand and slip it off, resting it over hsi shoulder.
Reluctantly she let her mother pull her away from her brother and they easily made her brother's bed before she was being led away again to the bathroom to get her own bath. "Are they bad to have?" A little worried look playing across her face. First her brother had a different bed and now he had spots!
