Sarah felt her throat constrict Someone like me? She didn't say the words out loud though, there was a reason the lone female lived in her dark den far from others. She could never live so close to him and keep her secret, or could she? What if she ended up making a friend of his into a pie?
She gave a wistful smile "Yes, that makes sense."

Abel glanced at her and tilted his head. She looked odd for a moment before replying but he wrote it off, not wanting to pry.
He nodded, a little... at a loss for words now. The silence grew between the for a moment, but he smiled, watching her. Despite her occasional bout of strangeness, he genuinely enjoyed Sarah's company.

She reached her paw out to brush her claws through his hair lightly "You 'ave such a nice smile..." She slowly drew her paw back and put it against her chest feeling a strange fluttering.
Blood rushed to her cheeks and looked down "'Ow do you save and protect the innocent then priest? Abel..." She was curious, he must care for the little otters as much as the fish. What a predicament.

If he had eyebrows, they would have risen at her touch on his hair.
"Thank you, Sarah. I like your smile as well," he replied and looked at her curiously. Why did she blush? She didn't seem the type... But then, she just kept proving that she was full of surprises.
"Well... The only way I know how..." He lowered his gaze from hers. "By either saving the one that threatens... or eliminating the threat."
There was no denying that he was ashamed of what he did. He wished so much that he could save all the ones that didn't see the light.

"So if someone didn't change their 'abits...you would...eliminate them?" She watched him curiously her eyes dark. Sarah wasn't sure if she could change her habits she had become quite used to her particular actions and tastes. In truth she didn't want to change, but she didn't want to hide or be away from Abel either.

Abel opened his mouth to reply that if it had to come to that, then he would, but stopped and stared into her eyes.
"Sarah..." he reached out a paw and placed it lightly on one of hers.
"I... would never was to hurt you," he said sadly, worrying that she thought whatever it was that he had sensed the other day would lead him to eliminate the danger she presented to others.

She managed a soft smile as his paw moved to touch hers. "Your a good otter Abel, I really do like you...I 'ope we can stay friends." She lightly brushed her paw against his glove tracing the cross.
"So...do you 'ave any lil...umm the miniature otters about?" She hoped he didn't have any missing.

"Why wouldn't we?" Abel asked, but decided not to wait until she answered to address her inquiry on mini otters.
"I do. Maria normally follows my friend Hector around, but she sometimes comes to me for aid. And then there's Cain, Amorpho, and Jackie. They normally stick together, those three. They live in their own little den in my territory," he replied, watching her carefully.

Sarah felt her face fall, so many little ones he had around, enough to make almost a dozen pies if she stretched it. Her dark eyes gleamed before she nodded softly.
"'Ow nice..that you 'ave company..."
She shrugged lightly "Sometimes one can drift apart, you know different points and view and all that."

"Well, they're not around often. Amorpho and Cain are rather introverted. And Jackie usually spends time with Maria or the boys. So I don't see them THAT often," Abel replied and tilted his head a bit.
"Yes, that's true, but... if friends are good, they can get past their differences, right?" he asked and leaned towards her a bit, looking at her expectantly. Something really seemed to be bothering her, but he didn't want to press it.

"Well tha's good- I mean not good that your left without comp'ny! Just nice tha' they 'ave their own ways to go..." She flushed and felt the skin beneath her pale fur heat. How difficult it was, and yet so easy to speak with Abel.
"I s'poose one could get past things, just some things are 'arder to get past then others. You know?" She nibbled at her lower lip.

Abel frowned a bit and decided he really wanted to know, after all.
He gently put one paw under her chin and blinked at her.
"Sarah, what's wrong? I may act scatterbrained sometimes, but... Well, I can't help but notice you seem uncertain about something, and you keep talking as if you've done something that would make me hate you. Please..." he trailed off there, his ears drooped a bit. He wanted to understand, so that they could get past whatever it was she felt stood between them.

Sarah frowned slightly and looked into his eyes "I work with predators, an' most don't understand things like tha..." She took a deep breath.
"It's pretty lonely out there, I just don't see 'ow anyone could accept me." She looked down and sighed softly. "You 'ave been more then kind...a friend." She offered him a timid smile.
"s'more then I could 'ave 'oped for you know love?" Her smile brightened.

Abel's frown lifted, but only slightly. He really wondered if that was the core of the worry.
"No, I don't know, Sarah. You're a lovely, albeit somewhat odd, otter, and very sweet when you want to be. It shouldn't be difficult for you to make friends and you shouldn't have to doubt that," he replied softly, his paw still beneath her chin. He didn't have the inclination yet to remove it.

"Odd...others can tell I'm odd...makes 'em nervous." She murmured softly and gave his paw a light nuzzle. "It 'ardly seems difficult to be your friend." She smiled.
Sarah looked down at her laced paws, how she wanted to admit she felt more then friendship with him now, a tingle of something else. She tried to remember if she had ever felt it before, hardly, no. She had to hold back a laugh, she had no buisness thinking that way of a priest!
