Merric's eyes widened for a moment. Was Fisk actually interested in going now? Today? This new-found impulsiveness of Fisk's was nothing but encouraging, but a little difficult to grasp. Perhaps he would get used to it, if he knew for certain that this was not just Fisk's attempt to catch up on missed time and missed opportunity. Merric would do everything to encourage Fisk's sense of adventure, but he also knew that it would be exhausting. He would be there for that as well.

His smile came easily. "The Nullspace operates almost like a Hotel. It operates at all hours, as people come and go all the time. No one would think you are imposing, and you'll find that there are many welcoming individuals ready to show you around at any given time."

(( Yaay, second page! 8D ))

Fisk tried to keep his fidgeting to a minimum as he thought things over. He wanted to go, he really did, and the fact that nobody would think he was being rude for just dropping in unannounced was a bonus. However, he still couldn't completely shake his nervousness about going somewhere unknown or meeting new people. He wanted to go where Merric went, see what he saw... and he didn't want to be separated from him again.

You're just living in a fantasy in your head with that thinking, he thought to himself. He hated feeling like he was being selfish, so made a resolve to just try to go with the flow on this one. He could spend a good amount of time with Merric, but he was going to have to be separated from him sometimes. After all, he's got to go home sometime...

Either way, it seemed there was a green light for going to see Merric's residence, and that was as good as any first steps -- or leaps, in Fisk's case. "I'd love to visit, then, if it's not too far." He didn't know how long he could keep this shape without water nearby, since it was obvious that he could not keep it up for as long as the majority of mers.

(( Second Page Dance! ))

"Is it too far? When I come to this place, I walk in this form, from home." He was not going to split hairs by mentioning that his ability to stay in this form was substantial enough to remain for an hour or two straight. And that Fisk's skill was at this time of a lesser degree. That was not the point. "Perhaps it would be good for you to recline in the water for a short time in your natural form, before we venture out. That should put your mind at ease, starting your journey fresh. And should it still be too far, I will gladly carry you."

Was that sort of gesture overly dramatic? Merric was not the type for such a consideration to enter into his mind. No measure was too extreme when it came to Fisk. Besides, he was fully confident that one day Fisk would be able to make the walk on his own with no trouble. He loved to help Fisk whenever he could, but he would also love to see him break free of his dependency and really blossom. He wanted to be there to see that... but if helping meant that he was somehow holding him back, he would willingly, however reluctantly, let go.

Fisk's eyes wandered slowly back in the direction of the pond, wondering how long it had actually been since they came over to sit on the bench. Honestly, he didn't think he could accurately predict the time that had passed, as he felt that he could sit like this, snuggled up against Merric, forever. Either way, the suggestion to hop back into the pond for a bit before heading out was an excellent idea, for even though he felt fine now, there was no telling how he would feel after a while 'on the road.'

He smiled at the thought of Merric carrying him the rest of the way if worse came to worse, but he knew that he would try his best not to let it happen. After all, he might be a little too heavy, and he didn't want Merric to struggle. "That's probably a good idea," he said finally, rising to his feet. He reached a hand out, offering, "Would you like to join me? I'm sure your body would be happy with a little rest as well!"

(( Merric's a big boy, he can carry THREE Fisks! *shot* xB <3 ))

With a smile Merric watched Fisk rise then gently took his hand as it was offered to him. "I would be happy to," he said and rose to his feet. The thought of swimming with Fisk again had not really entered into his mind since he arrived today. But to say that he had not dreamed about it would be a lie. "Remember the first time when you gave me that flower, then you gave me a tour of your pond..." he said before considering what it was he was saying. Fisk's pond was deeper than it looked. How long had they been down there? Hours? The rest of the day? It seemed like a blur, now, though in sleep he had always explored every last detail, every last moment, they had ever spent together.

Ah, but the past was the past. Beautiful, but gone. Today they were going to make new memories. The pond was just a means to an end. "Today I will show you my pond. I hope you'll like it."

(( XD I'm sure he'd like to say that, but could he really? *hides shotgun* 8d ))

An inescapable, wide grin made its way across Fisk's face at Merric's mention of the first time they had met. He caught himself before he could ask "You remember that?" But of course he remembered it -- one didn't simply forget first impressions easily, and the memory felt as though it was as good as any first impression could be. However, the flower... the water lily that Fisk had given Merric that day, for some reason, had left the biggest impact. A token of friendship, to his first real friend.

Guiding Merric over to the pond, he shook his head in partial response to Merric's last statement. "It's home, right? You feel comfortable there; you like it there. Of course I'll like it, too!" So sure of himself, he nearly forgot that there would be other anthros milling about the area as well. However, when Merric was with him, he felt like none of that mattered. With a passing thought, he wondered, Am I being too clingy?

He brushed it off. The answer to that question didn't matter, at least not today. He made a promise not to let it happen -- or continue happening, if that was the case -- but he would have to work on it over time.

His toes touched the edge of the pond, and he wiggled them as he stopped. It was still an odd feeling to him, to lack the fish tail. Grinning, he asked, "Ready?"

(( See how green he is? I think he's related to THE HULK. He wouldn't smash though. ))

Merric certainly did not think of Fisk as clingy, and if he had asked worriedly for reassurance, Merric would have flatly denied it. They had been apart for so long that any contact with Fisk would naturally be savored. Perhaps, if anything, he was being too clingy himself. And as for neediness, so another person would have been more independent by now. But this was Fisk. Merric did not question anything when it came to Fisk, unless he happened to be questioning himself, his approach, his handling of the situation. So far, so good. Today, life was so very good.

As they reached the edge of the pond, Fisk asked if Merric was ready. It was almost as if this was far more significant than a simple dip in the pond. But he could not put his finger on it. He shrugged and nodded, mirroring Fisk's grin with a smile of his own. "Would you mind... if I watched you?" His intention was not voyeuristic; he wanted to see how far Fisk had come. Perhaps that was the significance he was feeling...
