Gibson FTW! Flying V and 1962 Wilshire are the two best guitars ever!

I haven't played a gibson so I don't have much of a choice but pick Fender. I've like Fender for a while now.

Might not be a fair comparison, but my 1985 Fender Contemporary kicks the s**t out of my 2002 Limited SG Faded Special. The one with the crecent moon inlays and the ebony fretboard.
I use fuzz pedals for distortion, and the fender just sings with it. I guess it's really just player preference.

wow such an overdebated topic XD
it depends on the sound you want.
For a brighter more Eric Clapton like sound you'd choose Fender, but for a deeper sound like Santana a Gibson would be good.

Personally I'm a bigger fan of Fender. My first electric was a Squier, and I absolutely loved the bluesy tones i got from it. Unfortunately I sold it to one of my good friends in search of something a bit more advanced (which happened to be an Aslin Dane Bohemian). Since then i've gotten a cheap replica (a Harmony Strat), which I intend to modify into a custom instrument...
