2 Department of Magical Egyptian Antiquities Extracts Lost Magic Texts from Muggle Excavation By Siri_Black New findings of advanced spell work and potions in the later part of Ancient Egyptian history have been dug up, ironically, thanks to muggles!!! Excavations by muggle "archeologists" at the site of the lost University of Alexandria, which was recently found to have several class rooms, a dozen or so lecture halls and a large theater, allowed long lost magic texts to be rediscovered by wizarding kind.
A member of the Department of Magical Egyptian Antiquities (DMEA) is placed within every excavation team operating in Egypt, to guide muggles past cursed areas in tombs, away from sites too dangerous to excavate, and, most importantly, to protect magical artifacts from discovery. And that was exactly what Mohamed ibn Amayem, the wizard deployed to Alexandria, did.
"Yes, well, the muggles, of course, could see nothing but the foundations of a wall. However, the moment I approached the stone work, what they referred to as 'interesting erosions', were revealed to be a charmed message, which, when activated, read, 'Seek here the wisdom of ages, Hidden from the ravages of time, For you, the student, to find.'," reported ibn Amayem.
Using the polyjuice potion, a small incursion of antiquities officials, lead by Amayem, entered the site and worked through the protections placed around the texts. This work was done by expert spell crafters, Kasim Hawass and Ahmed El-Menbawi, who specialize in the magic and charms of later ancient Egyptian history, "a curious mix of Greek, Roman, Persian, and traditional Egyptian practices," according to Amayem.
"It was absolutely astounding. The level of complexity, not only in the message, but in the protections behind it; we had no idea they were capable of putting such powerful and long lasting spells in place so late in the history of their magic," remarked Hwass.
"Yes, the mix of traditions was interesting, but once we realized that the key to it all was a Greek 'key' spell, a charm attuned to 'purpose', it was simple to unlock the cash. The stone just popped open, like a trunk, and there they were," said El-Menbawi.
To be continued; come back for an in depth look at the contents of the Alexandrian Texts.

6 Harry Potter Events!!!
By: neostargurl_126 (all information was retrieved from Mugglenet.com)
~Half Blood Prince Cover Out!!!~ Scholastic (US publisher) and Bloomsbury (UK publisher) both released their respective covers for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince today! You can view the American cover here, the UK children's cover here, and the UK adult version here. Mary Grandpre, who has done all of the covers to date, designed the American cover, Jason Cockraft drew the UK children?s, and whom also did the Order of the Phoenix cover. The UK adult version features a photograph by Michael Wildsmith. The official press release from Scholastic is here. ~Bits Released On The Half- Blood Prince~ ~HP Editor Reveals Tidbits~ Arthur Levine (an editor at Scholastic) spoke about the sixth Harry Potter book on the Today Show. Highlight the text below for a summary of what he said. Spoiler warning! ----> There is to be a new Minister for Magic. We learn much more about Voldemort. No information revealed on whether Snape would be the Half-Blood Prince. HBP will be an intense book, but with light-hearted moments. <---- A MuggleNet reader who is the librarian at her daughter's school today received a copy of the "Publishers Quality Library Service" catalog. She said there is an ad in it for pre-ordering copies of Book 6 that says: "With something huge revealed about Lily Potter, the truth about why Dumbledore trusts Snape, and a little romance for Harry, this promises to be one of his best years at Hogwarts yet." Remember, it is very much still a rumor. ~Order of the Phenox Casting to Start This Fall~VTM has received word about the latest casting news from "Enchantment Casting" regarding the 5th movie. The selection for new and re-opened parts will begin in the fall of this year, while filming will begin in January 2006. The news was sent into the agency from Heyday Films. Note- the original Harry Potter Trio (Daniel, Rupert, Emma) might not be in the next movie!!!! ~Tidbits on Goblet of Fire!!!~What u can except in the Movie- - Film will not deal with the subplot of SPEW because "It's Hermione's issue". - A new piece of information has been put into a character. - Scenes already filmed include the Weasley's "surprisingly spacious" tent and one described with "a trophy room filled with silvered plaques and cups of various sizes, the Ministry Box at the Quidditch World Cup stadium, and a faux marble Trial Chamber, which rises several stories high. ~TVTV Watch: Oscar Night~ The 77th Annual Oscar Awards Show airs tonight at 8PM ET on ABC and Prisoner of Azkaban has been nominated for Best Music and Best Visual Effects. Should POA win either, we will have a video online shortly after. POA has unfortunately lost the Visual Effects award to Spider-Man 2. The "Best Music" award is yet to be announced...stay tuned! POA has also lost the award for "Best Music". Maybe next year with Goblet of Fire. Thanks again to mugglenet.com heart
