"No time for roll call, people! Everyone get into the dropship! Now!
Lt. Goda was forced to compete with heavy winds and the roar of the dropship engine as he grabbed the closest soldier to him and pulled him in through the hatch. He was screaming now and the scar on his neck seemed to stand out more than ever, just as a warning.

"We are running behind schedule, ladies and gentlemen! We are not some IFPF assholes who stand at street corners all day! We are Echo Company and we have somewhere to be! Now get on the dropship before I replace you with your sisters!"

Tyr "Isy" Isyataru started every work day pretty much the same. He would report into the IFPF station, get his gear, and start his patrol which would take him from the station to the next four blocks going west before returning to the station. He would make this trip about three times on an average day.

He grinned slightly as he neared the end of the first leg of his beat at an amusing, yet lewd graffiti graphic that started at the corner of an old warehouse, moved along the side walk and draped over the entrance. He probably knew the person who had done it, and could arrest them even under suspicion, but he had grown softer since coming to this city and was sensitive to the plight of it's citizens. Not even his hatred of the rebels could force him to hate them.

He reached the end of the sidewalk at the same time he came to the end of the next building. Prior to his arrival, this patrol was two blocks more, but everything was leveled around the tower that loomed before him. It was a plain gray structure that resembled an air control tower. It was shaped like an L and was two stories high with the thick necked tower part rising from the shorter leg. It was the central hub for all Japanese defenses in the city. The locals had come to call it an "Oppression Tower" while the Imperial name for it was Remote Outpost. Isy did not think he would have gotten any closer to that thing than he did not anyways.

In Beijing, the cities PLA cells were going in active. This was the first sign to the occupation forces that something bad was going to happen. There was always this same patter that had existed since the dawn of underground warfare. First the entire organization would burst in activity in movement and communications in order to prepare, then everything would stop and become inactive; people would vanish and the scope would be clear. It was never too long after that that the PLA would strike.

This time it was big.. It was huge. The activity had been more than ever seen before; arrests and executions were up and everyone was busy tracking and following the activity like a wolf would follow the scent of its prey. But just as it seemed like it was time to close the lid on the PLA, everything would go dark and lifeless, the prey would cover its scent and go dormant while the wolf kept sniffing and growling. It wasn't long before the predator started whining. It had gotten a whiff of its prey, practically tasting it in its mouth and it desired it more than anything. Everyone was on the edge. The Empire kept sniffing around and praying for an omen, a warning of the storm to come. They were part of a cruel role reversal where they were standing there with the bag over their heads and the firing squad waiting for their orders. The PLA were not spared either. They couldn't do much lest they risk giving away their last ditch effort of ending the Empire in their home land. Except for the detachments they sent out, all they could do is sit and watch.

Both sides looked through the events of the next years and even beyond them to the fate of Japan. The Empire searched for the ship that the PLA watched entering port at Fuzhou. The captain was fully informed of his cargo and personally over saw the future of China being unloaded and moved to the back of an inconspicuous, light blue van.
