The female took a while to answer. She was still on high alert, his voice sounding normal to her, rather than a whisper. As they walked onward, she kept her nose twitching, taking in the different scents of the jungle. "I believe we are in free land, Sky Prince." She finally said. Astra's wings were hugged tightly to her body, her tail still, straight and stiff. The angelic female risked a look over her should to make sure she wasn't going too fast for the boy and his ward, then went back to out in front, barely dodging a low hanging branch. "We'll travel until we are out in the open plains. Then we hunt, and rest. After the next day, you may leave to go and explore the lands, see other lions and lioneses, as well as hyenas, cheetahs, mice, hornbills....maybe even other creatures." Astra gave a light chuckle. "Wouldn't that be interesting?"

"Good enough for me..." He muttered under his breath, relieved he wouldn't be pissing off some powerful King his first day in these lands... That was something best reserved for the third or fourth... Or never...
Yeah.. Never was good too...
"Sounds pretty good for me..." He grinned back. "Lead on.."
Atora simply squeeked and shook her head sadly, hiding in his feathers. "Bad... Bad... Bad..."

Yet again silence was deafening between them. Astra was too concerned on getting her new charge through the dark forest. It seemed as though it would never end...the foliage closed in around them trying to keep them in the darkness. Finally, light broke through the jungle and the three were out in the open. Astra closed her eyes enjoying the welcoming breeze and the warm sun. It was slowly beginning to set, and the grazers were moving on slowly. Astra looked over her shoulder at Kaelien, wings beginning to stretch out from their cramped position upon her back. "Out of the jungle and into the open space. Welcome to the pride lands, Sky Prince Kaelien."

From time to time the lithe teen lifted his wings high and wound through the foliage, a slight hop sometimes necessary to get through the twining plants. The lands were surely more diverse than the mountains he had grown up in, and though he loved the high places and secret vallies, he had a feeling the tightness of the forest and wide rolling plain could become just as dear to his heart.
The step from the woods into the free air had his head tilting up, eyes closing as the wind sant to him, around him. It tugged his short mane and ruffled along his feathers, making him long to taste the air.
"Thank you, Astra..." He rumbled. "But it is Kaelien, or Kael, please..."
"Pretty." The little mouse agreed, almost grudgingly. The free air made her feel a little vulnerable, but wasn't as imprisoning and scary as the shadows of the forest. "Very pretty."

"Well, we should rest and get some dinner." She said absently, ignoring his little remark. As she stretched her frame, a loud yawn erupted from her maw, white fangs gleaming. Astra soon relaxed after her stretch, muscle moving under fur, her wings resuming their resting position upon her back. Not waiting for him, she set a leisure pace out onto the plains, looking about the space for any sign of life. "Kaelien, we should start hunting soon. Atora, I suggest when we do, hang onto your master tightly. We might go aerial."

"...." Atora said nothing, simply sighed and burrowed into Kael's mane. "Tell when over..."
She sounded so resigned to it all...
Kaelian chuckled. "What do you wish for dinner this evening, my lady?" He asked as he moved to match pace with her. Though most males let females hunt, Kael enjoyed the rush of it. And with wings, he was a little more effective a hunter, even though he was only a teen. Still, his body was rapidly fillng out and becoming more like the adult male he would be. It wouldn't be too long before he had that final growthspurt.

The angelic female giggled at the young mouse. Poor thing must be scared! At his question, Astra gave a lady-like shrug, her eyes following the horizon. "I'm not sure. Whatever is easy as of right now, Kaelian since it is growing dark. I fear the prey beast will become more on edge and the scavengers will come out since it is getting darker." As she spoke, Sun Antelope seemed to fall with Moon Lioness not too far behind. It seemed they weren't the only ones hunting tonight.

Kaelian turned his eyes skyward to watch the rapid movement of the great disks. A distant smile on his maw as he considered them. "It will not be long before she catches him."
He rumbled, nodding to the sky. "I wonder when the next Great Hunt will be? I did enjoy watching her daughters move through their starlit pride lands in pursuit of the Golden One..."
He seemed to catch himself and shook such memories away, smiling. "I believe the herd of zebra over there has a straggler or two.. How about we try that?"

She nodded. "Of course. She'll have a good meal tonight..." At his question, she turned to him. "A Great Hunt? I had never seen such a thing before...I wonder..." Astra was in thought for a moment. She was about to ask, but was cut off by his observation. "Ah! Zebra is fine. Yes, let's go." She turned to look at Atora. "Err...will she be all right? I worry for her..." Astra's wings shuffled a little as she took account of the fearful mouse.

"Aye, it is quite a sight..." He gave a faint shrug.
"I've not yet met a Zebra that wanted to kill me..." Kaelian joked with a flare of his wings. "Not that I discount such a happening.. But the same cannot be said for lions. Atora is cautious when she needs to be... I'm sure a hunt will be alright."
"I'm perfectly fine." Atora muttered, more at her lion than the lady. "Don't coddle me!"
