Arata took the book and looked through the pages quick before closing it. "Thanks a lot Vice Captain Yamoto." Arata thanked him with a grin. With the book he wouldn't have to take anybody elses time and he'd learn at his own pace. He couldn't ask for more.

Once he is sure Yamoto is gone Arata began to dance around in a circle chanting 'I know Kidou, I know Kidou!'

Arata finally settled down. Now he was looking through the book Yamoto had given him to find a low level spell. After a few minutes he found it. Hadou 1: Thrust.
"Ok, so I concentrate my reiatsu like a..." Arata traile doff as he began to read silently to himself. After a good five minutes Arata had the whole page that explained how to perform the kidou memorized. Setting the book down a little ways away from himself before standing up and putting both his hands out infront of him towards one of the remaining dummies that Yamoto had created.
"Hadou 1: Thrust!" Arata shouted and then the dummy he had been aiming at was knocked over. "Damn..." Arata mumbled. "...I barely knocked it over. How did I get a level four Hadou on the first try and not a level one..." Arata walked over an stood the dummy back up.

Arata walked back to where he had stood the first time. This time he brou both his palms down by his waist.
"Hadou 1: Thrust!" He then pushed his hands out in front of him as if he was pushing something. The dummy and quite a bit of the gravel on the ground blew a good twenty feet away.
"YES!" Arata shouted, again throwing his fist up into the air.

Arata examined the two dummies that were left. They were a good four feet apart. Arata stood back and put his hands at his waist, palms out, like last time.
"Hadou 1: Thrust!" Arata shouted as he moved his hands quickly forward like last time, except this time he put a lot more reiatsu into it. The two dummies were violently knocked into the air and out of site over near the forest in the distance.
"YEAH! That was awesome!" Arata shouted, feeling good about his latest accomplishments. A few seconds later he realized he had no more targets. Well, there was always the 5th Divisions target range. Arata walked over and picked up his book of Kidou before leaving the training field.

Arata walked back into the training field, his Kidou book still in hand. He set his book on the ground and then walked a good twenty feet away from it.
"Ok, time to practice." Arata said to himself as he extended his right arm out in front of him. He then grabbed his right bicep with his left hand to steady it. Arata aimed at the ground about fifty feet away from himself. "Hadou 4: White Lightning!" A bolt of lightning shot out of the end of Arata's fingers and hit the ground hard. There was a small hole in the ground like someone took a drill to it.
"I guess lightning doesn't harm the ground much." Arata mumbled.

Arata was back to thinking about where he could go for target practice. Then an image of the Academy Training grounds flashed in his head. "Perfect." Arata said to himself before running over and grabbing his book. Stowing his book in his hiyori (Is that right? You know the top that Soul Reapers wear.) Arata quickly ran out of the training ground.

Yamoto appears wiating for his student. "Why did I let Captain Nagi put me down as a head kidou instructer." Yamoto puts his hand to the ground and concentrates. 5 wooden dummies appears. "God i still love that technique."

"Kidou is actually fairly simple to learn. All it takes is reiatsu control and knowing the spells name. I'm going to be teaching you the spell white lightning, so watch okay." Yamoto holds his right index and middle finger out. "All you do is gather reiatsu in these two fingers and use the tips of the fingers as focal points." Yamoto finger begins to visably show reiatsu gathering. "Once you feel like you have enough, you say these words. Hadou 4. White Lightning." The lightning shoots out of Yamoto's fingers and hits the target in the chest creating a large hole. "You try, rember all it you need to do is focus you reiatsu in to the part of the hand you want the spell to fly out of"

Genji did as he was told. He stood poised and pointed his right index finger and middle finger at the dummy. The reitsu gathered in those two fingers.
"Concentrate", Genji whispered to himself, "Concentrate"
He focused the reitsu at the tips of his fingers.
"Hadou 4," called Genji, "White Lightning!"
A bolt of lightning shot out from Genji's finger and hit the dummy in the chest. The whole was smaller than the one Yamoto made.
"How did I do?" asked Genji, hopeful for approval.

Toushiro walks into the field and sees Yamoto. "Hey! How's the teaching going?" Toushiro asked in a low, slightly unconcerned tone as he made his way up to Yamoto.

"Very good, now that is really all you need to know to use kidou." Yamoto takes out a book and hands it to Genji. "Here is a list of all the spell, but you are only allowed to use up to 40."
