Peyote, washing in the cool water, listened in with the skill possessed by those of the Sun Village. Her eyes weren't watching the speakers, and her ears weren't turned toward them, but her mind was very much engaged with their conversation. Sadly, being the numb-skulled elfess she is, she got completely turned around when the conversation fluttered between their minds. She frowned and ached her head and shoulders back to wet her hair, using it to disguise her disappointment in losing the topic. But an offer was made to go looking for food?
Peyote straightened and waded to the pool's edge closest to Dancer and Llune. "Oh, can I go too," she asked brightly.

Dancer nods to both questions. "That should hold anything I find and yes I would be delighted if you came with me." Her eyes shifting from Llune to Peyote. "Do you think you could hold on if we went on Fire Bright?" Her smile brightened at the thought of giving the primping little bird her first ride on such a beast. "I could tell you more about what I saw under the vast deep as we traveled and it would be faster to get to the forest." Looking up the steep waterfall she sighed softly. "Or we could just climb up the rocks." Dancers wide blue eyes moved back to Peyote to see her reaction and hear her answer.

At first, Peyote smiled brightly as her 'offer' to go was taken up. She pulled herself out of the pool, well.. almost. Peyote stopped as Dancer asked if she could hold on to the very large cat. She blinked at the feline until Dancer offered the climb up the rocks. Neither option looked appealing.
eek Peyote, dumb founded by the thought of riding the cat and climbing the mountain, lost the hold she had on the rock, and her knee slipped out from under her. She landed halfway back into the water, her chest falling onto the rock beneath her, and the edge scraping at her stomach. gonk

"OH NO!" Dancer dove to catch her as Peyote fell but missed. Dancer was quickly in the water and helping Peyote out slowly. "You flutter head" she chuckled softly. "You must take care around slippery rocks and lose soil." Taking her to a flat shaded area Dancer helped Peyote sit and looked over the scrapes carefully. "These look nasty and will hurt for a bit but you'll live." Heaving softly she blinked slowly. "You will need to keep them clean or they might get infected and I guess I am on my own." Looking Peyote in the eyes she said softly, "Unless you are up to it anyway." Dancer knew the answer already though.

Chocolate colored cheeks deepened by a blush as Dancer bustled her about and looked over the slight scrapes on her tummy. "No, no, I'm fine," Peyote stammered, pushing herself to her feet and moving for her clothes. "I'm just... clumsy." redface redface redface redface redface

Dancer chuckled softly letting Peyote go from her tending. "You are silly as a long tail that swings without a care in the branches of my homelands. Did you still want to go with me then if it's only a scratch?" Dancer looked hopeful but doubted she would go.

Llune brightens when Dancer takes (and compliments!) the basket. Then she brightens a second time when Dancer mentions climbing up the rocks. "Ah... If I may..." she interrupts politely, "I think I could, if you'd like, carry you up to the top..."
However, Peyote's antics rather cover that last part of what she said... She smiles gently, wanting to offer the others a hand (or a glide, rather), but also not sure quite what to do to help little Pey from the water, and a little uncomfortable examining her closely.
She tinkers with the suddenly remembered pieces of white coral, their soft grating murmur inaudible over the distant breaking of waves on the beach However, once the excitement died down a bit, Llune repeats her offer. "If you'd like... I think I could probably carry you up to the top of the cliffs..."

As Dancer waited for Peyote to answer her question she heard Llune's offer and shook her head at it. Sending she said softly, *Thank you but no. This lovely little bird needs to toughen up just a bit. Life from here on in will be hard and I want her not to be lost to it. If she can not send for help then she will need to learn a bit of something to protect herself. Besides I doubt she will go with me anyway.* The low soft sigh escaping her once again.

Llune smiles gently, understanding now what Dancer is trying to do, but still disagreeing, **Not everyone is made for the rough life of the hunter, my dear. We must utilize each other's assets for the betterment of the group... For the time being, perhaps 'training,' is less in order than merely growing more close as a family and a tribe...** She pauses in her send, to give Dancer a moment to think things over, **I daresay, _I_ am not a hunter type, and I don't think I ever shall be... I have a feeling that perhaps our darling Peyote is quite similar... Perhaps we can all 'toughen up a bit,' once we've more fully established ourselves here, and secured a regular food supply and the like. I would hate for Peyote to offer to help gather food, then end up seriously injuring herself and being unable to help with even the small tasks here around the pool.**
Llune smiles again, still fingering the white disks in her hand, "Would I, perhaps, be able to brush your darling Firbright so that I may painlessly gather his loose fur? I will fashion a brush this morning while you are out foraging, and perhaps by the end of the day I will have some yarn made from his fur." Llune says all this aloud, so that Peyote doesn't feel left out. After all, she *did* scrape her tummy. That and getting left out of a send conversation wouldn't be too nice. "Once I get some yarn made, it won't take very long to turn these into some lovely hair-pieces and necklaces and the like..."

Dancer chuckles softly at the send. She had no intentions of trying to teach Peyote to be tough as much as to be less afraid. *You can fly away from danger should it find you. Peyote can do nothing but scream and hope someone hears her. I don't want to teach her fighting and hunting as much as I do just normal sounds of the forest and that everything will not kill her.* The send was light and caring of the fluttery overly girly elf. She did want to get to know the pretty flower better also. "I'm sure Fire Bright would welcome a good grooming if you were pleased to do so. That orange fuzz ball needs it in the worst way. With all this water and sand he is enjoying himself with a roll often." She laughed lightly and looked back to Peyote then back to Llune. "You are so kind Llune to want to make pretty things for us but you need to think of things you will need for the new arrival when it comes as well." Eyes brightened at the thought of a little babe about. So tiny and new. Looking to all of them for learning and skills.

Peyote took the time as thoughts fluttered about to catch her breath and poke at her scraps a bit. "I'm fine," she said over some of the sends as she got up to get dressed. She pulled her dress on as the conversation turned, once more, into a form she could hear, and her delicate little nose wrinkled. "How, by the High Ones, can anyone make yarn from fur," she asked dubiously, even though she agreed with Llune: Form before Function.

Llune chuckles in response to Dancer's statement, "Yes, I suppose, but I think there's plenty of time to prepare for the little one." A hand drops to her belly, she's barely showing any curve at all, as she's only a few months pregnant. A wordless send acknowledges Dancer's, the dawning of understanding underlying the mental nod. "I will make a comb, then, while you girls are out and about, so that once you return I may start to groom our big furry friend."
At Peyote's question, Llune laughs lightly in the early morning sunshine, "Oh, very carefully, I suppose" she jokes. "If you would like, I can show you... I just need to build all the necessary tools. I should be working the fur into soft twine by this evening." Llune's a master of making stuff, especially when it comes to making stuff to wear. And nothing but nothing could be softer and more enjoyable than a lovely tiger-yarn knitted scarf. Or skirt. Or blouse. Or hat. Or pillow... The list goes on and on.
((OOC: Elf pregnancy, so I'm told by the admins, runs about 2 years. Llune got preggy a few weeks before the cataclysm, so she's only a few months along total - I'd say at this point about 4. That means she's only about 1/6th of the way through her pregnancy. That's equivalent to about a month and a half into a human pregnancy, if that helps us get an idea of where Llune's at size-wise at this point. She's not really showing, especially since there was that spot of near-starvation and all. 3nodding ))

Peyote makes a face, her uncertainty over how fur could be made into anything useful is clearly seen on her expressive face. "Yeah," she responds then turns to Dancer. "Ready when you are," she pipes up, not altogether feeling ready to go tromping about in the forest, and yet needing to be donig something helpful.

Well, that statement from Peyote was all Dancer needed for her face to light up. "Oh wonderful" Dancer let out a little cry that sounded sort of catlike and Fire Bright was on his way to her side. Dancer leapt on his back with little effort. Holding a hand out she waited for Peyote to take it. Then she would get the ride of her life.

Peyote bites her lower lip and hesitantly takes Dancer's hand and allows herself to get pulled up onto the beast.
"Just like a zwoot. Just like a zwoot," she whispers to herself in a chant-like mantra.
