well if we all go on town duties and spread the word, then we'll be able to attract more active members, ''gold diggers'' will come if they hear the word ''polls''. because polls are a fast easy way to make gold, and they'll be active and effective.

We do Secret Santa at Christmas time for all the different holidays that are around that part of the year

Maybe add a new subforum for bumping and/or just nonsense. I check the guild before I go anywhere else on Gaia. If I notice someone posting, I try to chat with him/her. I'm having a hard time finding a time when the guild is active and talking to myself isn't much fun.
I don't know how much it costs for a subforum, but I would be willing to put up part of the cost for it.

our main forum is the nonsence forum... our main has serious to weird things to it, we've actually added 3 sub-forums with in the past year... 2 of them with in the past month.
... we don't belive in bumping... i remember only 1 or 2 things that were ever allowed to bump because it was a contest of the most you say in a thread game

Also, while contests are great, I think something more complex and/or requiring more participation would work better than the quickie contests. Bottom line, if you attract people mainly with contests, they will be expecting contests all the time and/or will only be active during the contest.
We havn't had contests in a while, so we decided to do a whole month of contests for the guild,
we have a rule of 20 posts to stay in the guild... every so often we do a ban for those who has not... then i sent out a PM a couple weeks ago to try to get people more active else they will get banned
i'm not trying to attract people with contests, i'm trying to let the people that are on to be rewarded by being on here even while the place was dead.

More members for the sake of a higher member count is not a good thing. I've seen many a guild fail when they do that. That is also the reason I don't frequent most of the guilds I belong to.
I'm proud of this guild for not caring how big this guild is, it's the quality of the membership that drives us on and lets other people hear how wonderful this guild really is.
we've had problems in the past that we got several new members at once and the quality was... very low of them... so
we mods are very happy for the new people that have been as nice and good people as ya'll been
hopefully more of our mains will become more active again and we'll have more people to talk around with.
