Heh, seriously though, it's quite annoying. One of my straight friends (yes, yes, I'm sure she's straight) is a tomboy, and because of that my mom's always calling her a dyke behind her back. ><; It's so obnoxious... My mom says she approves of me baing Bi but she always hates when i try to express any gay pride cuz "Your not gay, you just bi" WTF?!? Grrr...sorry. Just tell her that bi is part of the GLBT community. 3nodding And I hate the word "dyke"! It's terrible. scream Quick! kill it with fire!!!! *fire* Nuuuuu! it's not working. Quick! find me something thick and fairly strong! Ahh! *picks up spartan and whacks that word round the "d" with it* Dammn it! spartan not enough! Where's BakaTulip when you need her! gonk
Sorry, I really shouldn't have used that word (But, I was just 'attempting' to quote my mother), i'm sorry...Oh no no no. I was not anoyed at you! I'm just mad at the offeniceive use of the word. Not it's usage by our members! Oh, okay then... sweatdrop Awsome ^_^ And watch out people! Gold, Banks, Shops, Marketplace, trades and profiles have been shutdown! I smell a rollback! hold on everyone! *holds on*

Me: ''MOM! A Dyke is a flow of lava that interputs a layer of rock. The correct term is lesbain.''
And then when it was done and everything she was like ''Oh thats cute, I really like that.''

In my German class last year, the teacher was telling us about how dikes were used in olden times. I don't think he realised why people were laughing.

Sounds like something that my German teacher would do..he's actually FROM Germany and is slow to catch on when something he says sounds scandelous! (i.e. "fat" = "d**k")

Our dear BakaTulip's mom has issues separating "dyke" from "butch". Everytime I'm over I hear this. I remember we were talking about the schoolwide club dodgeball game and how the GSA was playing and how probably were probably saying "Oh, we'll beat those fags" (We go to a pretty bigotted school) and she replied "OH but they'll be afraid of the dykes." And her mom was like "You're not masculine enough to be a dyke." Dyke is a synonym for lesbian, it doesn't mean butch. At least as Tulip-sama believes and I agree with her. And her mom makes a good deal of pointing out the "lipstick lesbians" o_O;;; uh...femmes anyone?
