How she managed to find his neck underneath all the scruff that was his mane was Greek to him. Not that he -really- cared, since he was too busy hissing and swiping in her general direction(not effectively, however, because he was laying down), very unpleased as he got up and gave her an angry stare before moving to the other side of the post and sitting down again.

"Why does it -matter-?" he growled, tail flicking angrily, settling his paws firmly where he was, complete with his claws digging into the ground. She wasn't going to get him to go -anywhere- without a fight.

"Because it defeats the purpose to recruit someone and have them fall over dead because they were too stubborn to clean their god-cursed wounds!" Ziarre yelled, finally losing her temper. Pacing up to him she practically shoved her snarling face into his, eyes flashing as she glared at him. "Don't you bloody care about yourself? Don't you? I would think you'd at least want to ensure you stayed alive!"

Pyralis reeled back from her snarling face, just to return the snarl, the fur in his mane sticking up on end. Oh goodness. It was a rather nice thing it wasn't too late at night, or rather, there weren't many 'youth' about for their growling to wake up.

"Not really. Self-esteem and self-worth are over-rated." he hissed. Not that he had a -low- self esteem, but he didn't exactly rate his own life as something that was really 'worth' anything in the big picture. "Makes it easier to put it on the line every day."

Ziarre sneered. "In case you've forgotten, we're not just guards and warriors, we're the first thing newcomers see. We want those that we want in the pride to, you know, not run screaming at the smell of a certain supposedly black lion." Settling back on her haunches, she suddenly smirked slightly at Pyralis. "Really, if you do this voluntarily you'll spare yourself quite a bit of trouble. Do you really think I'll give up until you bathe one way or another?"

Seethe. She -did- have a point, but that also was hindered by him having an epic stubborn streak. He was -not- going to do as she wanted just because she had a point, and because -he- didn't want to. At least, he didn't want -her- to help him out. He'd do it when he was damned well ready to.

"I don't smell." he stated firmly. Dust wasn't exactly a conducter of scents, afterall. And he was just dusty, not.... well, okay. He -did- smell like lion. Not his problem, though.

"Yes, you do. You're also dirty enough that if you didn't claim to be black I'd have a hard time believing that you weren't a particularly dark shade of grey," Ziarre stated flatly, giving the air a sniff to prove her point. Shooting him a probing look, she tilted her head before continuing, "You know, just because your mother bathed you doesn't mean that you should never bathe again. That's just letting her control you, even when she's not here."

He groaned a bit at the comment about his mother, before leering at her over his shoulder. "It has nothing to do with her." he hissed, then went back to staring at his wall. He was almost like a whining child at this point in time.

See. This was why he didn't like females. Moreso, this was why he didn't like prides. How come he'd let himself get goaded into coming here? Ugh. Again, his mother had been part of that topic.

"I'm just not doing anything because it's what -you- want me to do."
PostPosted: Wed Jun 18, 2008 7:31 pm

"Which, either way you look at it, is still allowing a female to control you," Ziarre replied smugly. "You've much to learn about the fine art of manipulation, I see. For all you know, I could be trying to keep you from taking a bath using reverse psychology. But there's no way for you to know that, because you can't see inside my mind. I don't think even gods can do that." Suddenly, the smug arrogance in her voice turned to a tone that was hard as stone. "So you'll just have to trust me, because expecting me to be trying to manipulate you all the time is just going to wear you out. And I'm not going to give up until you take one simple little harmless bath, so what the hell is it going to hurt?"

He sat himself onto one side, perfectly content to let her ramble onto his self-deafened ears. Pyralis wasn't about to just let her ramble him to death. In fact, he was purposely blocking out all of her logic. He'd show -her-.

Or something like that.

Pyralis waited until she stopped talking to lift his head and give her a sort of bored stare, expression very blank, before he flumped his head back down, tail thumping against the ground.

"And?"

Oh, he was being -such- a pain. Then again, he was being himself. Whatever it was she'd just said, he really didn't give a damn. He was going to do what -he- wanted to do.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 18, 2008 7:53 pm

From the answer she got, Ziarre figured that Pyralis had heard very little, if any, of what she'd just said. Since she was definitely within hearing range, and Pyralis didn't seem the type to suddenly go deaf, that meant he'd been ignoring her.

This made for a very pissy Ziarre.

Snarling, she struck out at him, not really caring if she added a few new claw marks to his hide. By this point, he'd earned them.

Pyralis turned and hissed as the claws came into contact with this already sensitive fur. "OI!" he growled, suddenly heaving himself up to his paws and returning the lashing, fur standing on end at the 'threat' of just trying to do his own thing and take a freakin' NAP.

Oh yes, he'd been minding his own business when she'd decided to -annoy- him.

However, his swat wasn't a 'let's fight some more' swat, but more of a 'Back off NOW' one, before he settled himself back down, growling and resting his head back onto his paws, continuing to make very unpleased noises.

With an angry snarl, Ziarre dropped the issue. Sort of. For now. If you could count flopping down in front of Pyralis to glare at him, so close that she was practically touching noses with him, 'dropping it.' It was obvious that she was nearly choking on her restrained fury, and even more so from the glint of an ivory fang that if he tried shoving her away, he'd find a set of fangs embedded in his leg. "Fine. Take one after your nap, then. Not that it isn't almost dawn, but whatever."

He lifted his head for a moment to stare at the face that was just looming nearby and staring at him, his expression mostly bored. There was a bit of a sigh as she went to harass him, despite her 'retiring' from the arguement. However, glint of furious fang or not, he licked her nose, if only to irritate her a bit.

"Whatever." he submitted, shrugging his shoulders lightly before tucking his head underneath one of his legs and releasing a deep sigh, his face now burried in the 'safeness' of his limbs.

Sure he'd be woken up later, but for now, he was going to let himself sleep a little longer. Walking to the beat of someone else's drum was.. well, very unfun for him.

Ziarre stared. And blinked. And stared some more, utterly baffled at the sudden 'change' in Pyralis' behavior. Well...at least it was better than being swatted upside the head, even if she wasn't sure just why he'd done it. Giving a bit of mane she judged as being relatively close to his face a small lick of her own, she curled up to doze off for a bit longer herself.

Wrestling full-grown males into letting their wounds be tended was tiring work, after all.
