My first instrument was the Tuba, back in the 5th grade.
All the kids were sitting around picking their instruments the first day, but I wanted something unique. Eneryone was picking flute, clarinet, trumpet, percussion. (all the beginner instruments)
The only one nobody picked was the Tuba. So I went over to the BD and said "I wanna play the tuba. Not the baritone, the tuba."
Haven't looked back since. I was singing about getting to play the tuba for days. My freinds thought it was funny.

Well, at my school you get a form and write down 3 instuments that you wouldn't mind playing, well I didn't know so, we went to Amro(music/instruments renal store) to try out instruments. I thought I was good at Flute,French Horn,Alto Sax, and Clarinet(really sorry if I spelled that wrong). Well, they had a thing where if you wanted Flute you can't have Sax or Precussion on there or vice versa.I thought I was better at Flute so I kept Flute and didn't put Sax.They needed French Horns so I was stuck with that....,but I heart French Horn now!

We got a choice of three different instruments. No strings attached, just pick three and norrow it down to one. I picked my horn then, from day one, and I've never looked back ^_^
I love my concert horn, and my mello xp

Well, at the end of third grade we got to try out different instruments- Flute, Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet, and Violin. Well, I couldn't make a sound on the flute (they told us how to play it wrong...>_< ), I didn't get to try trumpet, I tried the trombone instead. I thought it was awesome, but I wasn't very good at it. I was really good at the clarinet, but I hated the sound. And all we did was pluck the strings on the violin. Booooring.
So, I decided to go with a reed instrument, and I decided to go with the saxophone because it was awesome. And it is. cool
And I chose the Oboe this year because it was unique, and I wanted to learn a new instrument.

lol love your guys stories.
um..well at the end of third grade we go to summer band and we pick three instrument we want to try, i picked clarinet, flute, and i can't remember the other one i stuck with clarinet for four months but i just couldn't get into it. then in fifth grade i went into band again, i chose flute, trumpet, and trombone well flute was still out, and trombone needs a lot of air. but i fell in love with the trumpet since i could make notes out of it with my first try lol. So six years later ive decided i want to try french horn since my band needed one, and i play 1st chair french horn and love it, im not sure if i'll try mellaphone for marching, but eh i think i will stick with trumpet, since we are goin to have some freshman coming in.

Hm... Why did I choose trombone? At first I was gonna do Clarinet or Sax or flute, but then I saw all the button and thought every button was a different note so I was like 'Eh heh, HELL ******** NO.'
So I was down to Trombone or Trumpet (I did not want to have anything to do with percussion) So I tried both...
How did i choose? Easy, the trumpet mouth piece was smaller and harder to play into over the trombone... So I chose trombone...
And I stand by that... Trumpets are harder to blow into than trombones... I just started trying to figure out the trumpet and it's hella harder than trombone was to pick up...

My brother (a percussionist #_* lol jk) talked me into getting one because he wanted a drumset AND a saxophone. So I didn't really chose it. I was "conviced" by my 14 year old brother into getting the coolest, most awesome instrument ever. Which now I know, it is the coolest. 3nodding xd smile

My mom wanted me to play flute. Being the terrible daughter I am, I decided to not play the flute, and play something that looked like more fun. Thus, I chose the saxophone. Best decision I've ever made, not listening to my mom.

In my middle school we got to try all of the instruments and our teacher wrote our scores down on a little sheet and at the end he suggested what we should play but it was totally our choice… well I got the best scores on clarinet and sax so my band director was like “which do you want to play?” I chose clarinet because my best friend was a clarinet player. But then my band director was like “we have too many clarinet players but I have an idea…” and he goes off into this room and pulls out a bass clarinet and goes “ I know it’s bigger than the clarinet but, I think you can do it.” and hence forth I play the bass clarinet…

First, I was unhappy when Mr.Hanna said I should play Flute, I wanted to play Oboe!! Now, I play flute and love it.
My instrument choices...: Oboe 1/2 Trombone Flute.
After 2 months(I learned Flute in 2months..o.o), I persuaded Mr.Hanna to switch me to trombone. He said maybe. I tried it out, was good and now I borrow one from the school(I get one soon.. =) ) .
PS: I wanted to play oboe because..... it had a pretty big case.... xD I thought "Aww.... But Flute has a tiny case! crying " And my friend Colby was thinking about playing the flute, but her mom said no.... =(

it took me three solid tries to get to the love of my life...the tuba. it started with the sax, now don't get me wrong, i like the sax, but i got bored, then i went to the flute and played that for 5 years, and got bored. then one day my band director asked if anyone wanted to play the sousaphone for marching band cause we didn't have anyone to do it. i said what the hell...and i must admit...i've never looked back.

My first was clarinet. I started it b/c it was the one my mom played and it was the easiest for me. My brother just started saxophone and it would be easy for me to switch now.
