Why is it that you people seem to be SO obsessed with acting like cynical, mean-spirited jerks, making snarky, unnecessary comments all the time. Why can't this just be something nice and sweet about a couple of harmless Gaians who you don't even know and who have never done anything to you to deserve being talked about this way? And why can't the Gaia staff/admins who decided to spotlight this couple just be trying to do something nice for a couple of people on their site, for no reason other than that it IS nice?
I am getting so sick of the bad attitude so many of you seem to have. stare

There's no excuse to be bitter towards people that get their own announcement just because they have one.

Camron Flamheart True, but as I've said, not everything's all joy and happy. Some people like to see a new announcement, but at the same time, others hate having to listen to more and more love stories every day. When there's an announcement, people commonly discuss it. And when people start to discuss something, it spreads out. Sooner or later, everyone'll be talking about getting an E-Partner for no real reason. And after that happens, you'll be flagged as "Single", if you don't already have an E-Partner, and you'll be spammed with "BE MY GF/BF!!111" until you either leave or get one. So, what do people do? They'd normally blame the base of the spam, the announcement and it's topic. And thus, creating hatred to the people in the topic. No, the world isn't all sugar and love. But you know what? That makes it all the more refreshing when something in this bitter, hateful world IS about sugar and love. And the scenario you're portraying is almost certainly more unrealistic than the simple nice-ness I was talking about. If you go into towns in a crowded area, you're already going to get spammed with either "be my bf/gf" or "gimme ur stuff" and no announcement is going to change that. Don't hang around noobs and you won't have to worry about it. I honestly don't get the problem here.

Hey, I'm not all gloom and doom. I just really hate these sort of announcements. I have a right to say so. Just like you have a right to say you don't agree. If you don't like my opinion, tough. It's still my opinion, and no offense, it's probably not going to change because you call it "cynical", "mean-spirited", "snarky", and "unnecessary". I find your post to be that way, but I know by saying this I'm probably not going to change your opinion. See, the thing is, I've seen towns, the chatterbox, and a good majority of Gaia that aren't the GCD and the ED, full of idiots. Do you know the towns are filled with ten year olds who are having word sex with each other? Ten year olds! I'm not making this up. Now, those TOS breaking little kids are going to see a couple being celebrated for getting together. What's that going to lead to? "Oh, I want to be in the spotlight, too." That's going to make them try and get together with random strangers on the internet. These kids aren't bright. In fact, most of them are morons.
While I think it's cute that this couple got together, and I am in fact happy for them, I think Gaia made the wrong choice shining the light on them.

However, several people in here ARE being overly nasty. You are welcome to your opinion, but I don't think it's necessary to start badmouthing the people involved. Nor is it necessary to act like Gaia is completely retarded for wanting to share a nice story, which is just that. A nice story. Any stupid people who would get a message like "You need a bf/gf NOW or you're a worthless nobody!" was already stupid enough to think that, with or without any announcement helping them along.

Guys, ranting and moaning about a weird announcement is one thing...
It's pretty harmless.
However, even if you find some of the guild member here "cynical," if you come in here and stir up trouble by attacking people for their opinions, you're the one who needs an attitude adjustment. Which is worse, badmouthing people you've never met and who'll never see it, or badmouthing your fellow guildmembers? It just leads to trouble, and I'm getting tired of people here fighting at the drop of a hat.
