"Murdered. In front of you?" The news came so suddenly and as such a shock that Yazmina actually reared up a bit, shying away from it, wings spread to balance her until her feet touched earth again. "Who would do something like that to a foal? Why?" She was sincerely horrified.
Of course he'd said he didn't remember much, so there was little point in asking. She shook herself hard and calmed down, though it was a struggle. "I'm sorry. I just can't imagine. No one should have to see that sort of thing. I'm sorry," she offered again.

The black stallion just shurgged. He didn't have much memory of it and so it really didn't bother him too much. It was something he lived with and accepted. "It's alright. That was just what life decided to give to me. Atleast I know I had a mother and that is alright with me. I lived and I know that when I do one day find myself with a family of my own that I will try my best to make sure my foals grow up with both thier parents. Thats all I really can do." He replied calmly. He was atleast somewhat glad that she cared enough to have such a reaction to his past. She seemed extremely innocent to him and he hoped that the spirits would see it fit that she would never have to deal with anything hoorible in her own life. "What about yourself? Do you have any family or an interesting past? I appologize now if I am being too bold. Just tell me if I am."

He was so composed about it and so calm that she couldn't continue to be upset. Troubled, yes, but acting out about it when he wasn't seemed out of place. What she settled on was, "You're very strong, Dustin."
"The only interesting bits about my past, I think, are that I came from a different land. There were more mountains than there are here, and not nearly so many others. But my parents are there and they are all the family I had. No mate, no foals. It's just the herd I have here, now."

"Strong? I don't know about that. I just do what I have to do is all." he said with a chuckle and a smile to lighten to mood. "The only land that I have known is this one and I haven't really been to the mountains. Never really saw a need to go there. But it is good that you have family. That's atleast something interesting to me since I don't have that."

"I miss them," she admitted. "But I have friends. You have friends," she added, smiling. "That's a kind of family. Maybe not blood, but someone to pass the days with, someone to talk to and walk with and have for company."

"Very true and we have both just made a new friend in each other, even though we do not know each other very well." he added on, still smiling himself. "Plus there are a ton of others in this land that we have yet to make aquaintences with."

Yazmina beamed, pleased to be named a friend. "That is also true. Making new friends, I mean. And no one is a best friend right away. That sort of thing takes time. But at least I will have someone to mention when the others ask who I've met."
"Oh, oh," she added, since it was somewhat on the subject. "I have heard that there are water horses here. Is that true? Have you met any?"

He chuckled at her sudden excitement about meeting new friends. "Yes, and I have someone new to mention when others ask me who I have met as well. As for best friends, I would not know anything about that since I have never really had one before...atleast not that I know of." he said thoughtfully trying to think back on who he had met and whether or not he would consider them a best friend. This was something he would have to investigate more later.
"Water horses? I have heard of them as well but I have not met any. I have tried looking for them before but I don't think they want to be found."

Curious. Yazmina tilted her head. "Why wouldn't they want to be found?" She didn't expect him to know the answer to that, particularly since he hadn't met any. "I think I might look too. Maybe something's happened to them." Not that she had the first what she'd do about it, either, if that was the case.

The black stallion just shurgged his shoulders. He didn't know what they looked like even so how would he know why they didn't want to be found. "Maybe they don't want to be found because of how they look. Maybe they are all scaley and slimy and such." He said trying to picture his own decription in his head. "We could look for them together and like you said maybe something did happen to them and they may need help. Though maybe we haven't seen them because they can't leave the water because they can't breathe on land. We are in the air alot and it's hard to see anything in the water from way up there." he said looking up in the sky as he said it.

Yazmina shuddered, feathers rustling, at the thought of slimy Soquili. That wasn't something she'd considered, and certainly not something she wanted to see. Oh, but wait. Together? "Together wouldn't be bad," she offered, a little timidly. "If they do need help, it would be best to have more than just one of us alone. And...and two sets of eyes would be better than one."

"Yes and who knows, they might be violent and would harm anyone who came too close, then two would be better than one in that situation." he added. He had never met one so who was to say that they would automatically be friends. They could turn out to be just the opposite and prove to be foes.

"Well, I'd hope they aren't violent," Yazmina said. "Though, I suppose if they are, and they really can't leave the water, we'd have the advantage, having wings and all. There's only so far they could come out before we were too far above them."

Dustin chuckled and spread his wings. "Yes, that is true. And I am sure we are much quicker than they are. We are lighter since we can fly and that would make it so we are quicker and escape is easier."

"So we'll be fine." That made her feel much better. "I think this is a good plan. If you ever go looking, I would be glad to fly with you." Oh. "Though I don't mean to invite myself along. Of course, if there's someone else who'd rather go, or who would be of more use, I completely understand."
