Mel stood up with her and stayed by her just in case she got tired or fell over or something. “If you say so. I’m here though and willing which only lasts until those foals come out and you can walk normally again,” he teased with a grin.
“Well I’m one of three. My half brother was one of two I think. So you could have two or three I think. But I did see someone with four once…You think four could fit in there??” He stared at her middle again, just trying to figure out how on earth two, let alone four, could possibly fit in there. “I don’t know what to expect either. But we’ll find out soon enough I suppose.”

There was a wobble here and there, but otherwise she was doing alright. A brow would lift though to everytime there was a kick. "Goodness I'll never get used to that!" She snorted at Mel's tease, knowing full well he'd still help once they were out and about.
Curious eyes went back to the other, blinking as she heard more of his family. "T..three? Four?! That is alot." But for some reason she didn't think it was those, else she'd be much more cramped. She too stare at her belly, both of them looking like children meeting a snake for the first time. Shaking her head, Setsumi began a slow march with a random bout of energy. "Okay then. Say we do have sons or daughters....what would we name them?"

Mel kept pace with the wobbly mare and stared at the sky as he pondered the question. “I hadn’t thought of names. Well I want to name at least one of them. For a girl…I’d choose Kahili and a boy…Kairavan.” He smiled at her and swished his braided tail as they went along. “What would you name one of them? We might have to come up with another one if there actually turns out to be three in there.” With both of them talking reasonably about what was to happen, he actually started looking forward to it all. It couldn’t be that bad after all.
((I looked up names a few days ago lol))

Setsumi listened in with added patience. It was odd...but nice, to be talking about future younglings like this. "Ah, so you enjoy the k sound. Does any of your family have that too?" Her teal eyes looked down, watching her hooves move forward. "I'm not too sure. It may click all the easier once I see them. Maybe?" She gave a soft snore, resisting to frighten herself thinking there were three inside. That was simply...so many. 8o

And then...
"Aaee!" Setsumi bit her lip harshly to the painful jab in her sides. That was new, but certainly not the first. A few more followed suit, forcing the mare to slump down with a whimper. She ignored the long hair falling on her face as she focused on breathing the ache away. Was this supposed to happen? Already she could feel gravity take control and try to force her on her side. But that was dangerous for horses...so why did she feel this sudden fatique to do so?

Mel just shrugged and was about to respond when he saw her all of a sudden drop to the ground and shout. "Setsumi! What's wrong??" he asked frantically circling around her to see if he could find out what was wrong. He placed his head to her stomach, not caring if she kicked him or not and felt a lot more movement than before. "D-do you think this is it?? They're coming out?! Oh crap, oh crap." He got back up again and started pacing back and forth. There was no time to find help, they were both in this together. Taking a deep breath we walked around and layed down beside her, blowing the hair out of her face and nosing her neck gently. "Just take deep breaths, it'll be okay."

The mare broke into a cold sweat rapidly, but she was too busy huffing to take notice. She teetered, and as if Mel's curious nose was a shove, she finally lulled to her side with her neck extended. "Mel...it hurts..." They had to be coming now, right? Right? It hurt, but she didn't think something was wrong. The frantic stomping of hooves crossed her sight everynow and then, but the mare could do nothing.
Tummy rose and fell with her efforts and she'd whinny every few moments.
[now how do we flow from babies to being in baskets?] xD;

Mel continued nosing at her gently, trying to soothe her and help keep her calm. “I know, I know. Just relax and keep breathing. I’m no expert but maybe you’ll know when to start pushing. Part of that motherly instinct we were talking about, right?” He smiled and blew air onto her damp fur to hopefully help dry it a bit, but more sweat just kept coming. He wanted to get her some water or something but he wasn’t about to just leave her here when she was in her current condition.

Know? How would she know?? Her teeth clenched and her insides seemed to jolt then too. Oh, that's how. "Nng, I'm no expert either!" She shook abit to how cool the breathes felt on her wet fur. And then she tried said pushing.
---
Within the hour, she was exhausted. But oh so much lighter and with no more pains. Setsumi could sit upright now, and beside her curled tail lay two baskets. Teal eyes peeked up to the stallion. "Wow, talk about a scary episode."

Mel couldn’t help but laugh and nuzzle her cheek. “You scared the living daylights out of me. First you’re walking and talking perfectly and then you drop and start screaming. For a second I thought you were dieing.” He smiled and nudged the baskets to see that they were okay. “I’m gonna see if I can find you some water. I don’t know how I’m going to get it to you if I do but I can at least try. Unless you feel okay to walk and come with me.”

She stared for a moment before chuckling out a small laugh. Seems they had both been frightened. "Trust me, it wasn't fun." Did it really look like dying when you was giving birth? Creepy. Her petite ears twitched as he nudged the baskets, herself wondering if they'd wiggle in reply. Or maybe the foals were too exhausted to care at the moment?
"Oh, no I'm not thirsty, thank you." Though it would be amusing to say yes, just to see how he'd carry water over. "But I am starving now, since I have open room in my belly now." She peeked back to the baskets, not wishing to leave them alone.

Mel nodded and smiled. "I'll see what I can find. I'll be back soon." He nuzzled the baskets again instead since he figured she still didn't want to be touched before trotting off to see what he could find for her. He couldn't bring back grass because well that was nothing. The only thing he might be able to find would be apples and maybe some berries.
It had taken longer than he expected but he did come back with two apples in his mouth and set them down in front of Setsumi. "You better enjoy those, they weren't easy to find," he said as he plopped down beside her and the baskets and sprawled out on his side.

"M'kay." Stay safe.
She watched as the other nuzzled the baskets brielfy before going on her request for food. Indeed, she was lucky to have such a male in her time of need. It made her feel content also, knowing that somehow the foals would be as kind as Mel. The mare waited patiently, busy enough with examining the two baskets. How...interesting. The both shared hers and Mel's coloring, and one even had petals.
Her nose wiggled and her stomach growled just as Mel reappeared. Long blue tail gave a shiver to show her joy of a meal at last. "Haha, I certainly will!" It hardly took a minute for her to chomp away one apple. But she tilted her head to the flopped male. "Do you want the other one? Have you eaten yet?"

Mel smiled as his large braid of a tail flopped against the ground every couple minutes. "Don't worry about me, you deserve both of them. I can always munch on some grass or something." He turned his head to look up at the sky that was now starting to change colors and would soon darken with night. "Once you finish we should probably find a safe place to rest for the night. Who knows what could be out there just waiting for a chance at some newborn baskets" After saying something like that he immediately regretted it. "Not that anything will try to steal them! It's just better to be safe than sorry, right? Nothing to worry about, nope nope." Last thing he needed was for her to freak out over something he said but if something did try to go after his baskets, he'd no doubt protect them with his life.

"Thank you." And with that set she gratefully ate up the second apple. It was enough to soothe the quivers to her tummy for now. Then she too looked up at the changing colors above, before bending her neck to glance at the sinking sun. It was nice, but soon disturbed by Mel's little statement of random strangers with a taste for baskets. She puffed her cheeks and shot a glare to the male with moody tears in her eyes. "Don't say such things, they're frightful!"
Sigh. She needed to learn how to deal with her fluxing emotions better. "Sorry. I know you didn't mean it." Slowly, she made her way up to her knees, then to her hooves. Goodness it felt wonderful to be lighter. But how were they to transport baskets? x.x
