Casca gnashed at the air and flailed around, like any good Kraken should; then he rolled onto his back and his tail lashed around. He reached out to bat at one of the locks of Austin's hair: it looked as though their kraken was a bit too cutesy-pie to really scare off anyone.

Kaeden had to stop a moment to cover a laugh. Their 'kraken' probably wouldn't terrify anyone. Not like it mattered, anyway. Then he went to help Austin 'catch' their 'monster-pet'.
"'N then no one'll stop us! We cen have all the loot we want! And food too," he added for good measure. Not that he was hungry right now, they just ate.

"That's right! Food!" Austin said, even though he doubted this Krakken would last a day. But oh well, you had to start young! "Oye, wha's your name?" he asked the "monster" suddenly realizing he hadn't bothered to yet.

The monster was interrupted trying to nom on its own foot; after a few moments he diffidently said, "Casca!" and looked proud of itself. Then he corrected himself: "Krakken?"

"So, Casca the Krakken!" Kaeden said with a little nod. He was small looking, but he would grow into something fierce! Maybe.

The incredibly fierce krakken got distracted by his own foot again; then he got distracted by his tail and spent five minutes chasing it around in a quick, tight circle, wings pinned to his back. This was accompanied with lots of baby laughter. The 'maybe' was a small hope at that point.

"Aye!" Austin agreed. "An' when you're bigger you can beat up Tock!"
The gator man in question turned, looking at them curiously, as if he had heard that, then started to laugh. Maybe he had.

Casca's mother waded in at this point; she gave both boys a fairly rueful smile. "Thank you for playing with him," she said. "I hope he wasn't too annoying -- come on, baby, time to get some food in you, okay? Say thank you to the kids."
"Fanks," said the gargoyle boy obediently, and he clawed up his mother (she winced) to settle on her shoulder. He waved at them the entire time until Lindy waded out of there and they both walked out of sight.

Austin waved, not surprised when Jake showed up behind him, looking impatient. "Playtime's over, kid. We need to get home."
Austin nodded and stood, lifting his arms. "Carry me," he demanded.
"Walk," Jake said and started to walk away with Tock and Polly and the others.
