Mir nodded, taking a few crackers and adding cheese and sausage as well before grinning. "You'd almost think they were brothers or something, wouldn't you?" she asked, a little surprised at the camaraderie between them. And yet, it felt really good to be chatting comfortably with someone who wasn't Robin. Maybe she was finding another good friend in Cindy.
"Oh, it matters," Julien said firmly. "Feelings matter. But we can't dwell on it to the exclusion of all else. Our happiness with our homes matters as much. But... maybe we can work together to figure out what it is that feels out of place for us?" he suggested.

"Oh yeah." Cindy smiled and watched them, then looked over at Mir. Aesop was more of a blessing than she realized. Not only did she find company in him, but he'd helped her find another friend... One that was turning out to be better than she'd imagined. "And yet... They're so different..."
Aesop watched the boy as he seemed to take hold on the situation. Perhaps first impressions weren't always right. This boy was much more than a bundle of happiness. "That sounds like a plan." Aesop nodded to him.

"At least they seem to be getting along well," Mireille said, fondness in her eyes as she watched the two boys. "I'm glad of that. I want Jules to have friends." Absently, she nibbled on a piece of cheese, looking over to grin at Cindy.
Julien nodded as well, offering a bright grin. "Together, we can figure it out. Who knows... there may be others out there who can help, too," he added.

"And I want Aesop to as well." Cindy froze after that sentence. "This... Strikes an interesting question." Her eyes slowly grew wider. "How many other kids like this are out there?"
Aesop's mind went to the same thing at about the same time. Others... Would they look like they did? Think like they did? "Yes, but for now, lets focus on the present." He looked down at the uncomfortable shirt he was forced to wear and tried to make the ring of the neck more comfortable, but just couldn't seem to make it work. "I don't know about you, but I'm not very fond of these loose pieces of cloth."

"I'm afraid I don't have quite anything your size here, Aesop," Mireille apologized. She reached out, touching his hand for a moment before pulling back. "But I'm sure you'll have some proper clothes soon, right Cindy?" she added, looking at the girl. As her prodding drew the boys' attention to Cindy, Mir nodded very subtly to the kitchen, hoping to coax the woman there after she'd reassured Aesop. "Just like Jules will soon, too."
Jules just chuckled, watching Cindy as he waited for her answer. In truth, he didn't mind the loose clothing, but it did feel a bit like he was wearing a dress... "Maybe we could go together?" he suggested. Clearly he was a boy who preferred having company around.

"Oh yeah, definitely!" She wasn't hesitant about her answer, but the idea of buying clothes for him had evaded her thus far. Cindy blinked as she noticed Mir suggesting they move toward the kitchen and very quietly stood up. "Be right back Aesop." She gave a small smile to him before leaving the room.
Aesop smiled at Mir as they both reassured him. "Right. Well, until then, I'd just prefer to not wear anything." His voice suggested the need for clothing had not been driven into his little head yet. And with a little difficulty, he struggled to pull the shirt off his back. For something so loose, it sure was a pain to take off.

Mir waited until they were away from the boys, then turned to Cindy, offering a very hesitant smile. "Um... I'm not quite sure how to broach this without sounding condescending. Please bear with me?" she asked, clearly very nervous.
Julien was too busy watching Aesop pull off his shirt to bother keeping tabs on Mireille as she left the room. "Are you sure you want to do that? I mean, won't your guardian get upset with you over it?" A moment later, he added with a frown, "And won't you get cold?" Ignoring the cast off shirt, he moved to adjust the quilt a little, tucking it more protectively around Aesop. This boy had something of a mother-hen instinct in him.

Cindy raised an eyebrow. Condescending? What exactly was she about to say? "You shouldn't worry about that. I've taken some pretty harsh words in my day, and well..." She paused and let out a large sigh. "I'm sure whatever you say, you do it out of concern. So fire away."
Aesop stopped what he was doing, pulling his head back through the hole. "Upset?" He scratched his head. Though, the boy's second concern was more convincing. "Hm. You have a point..." That was what these were for. He understood now. Carefully, he straightened the shirt back to how it had been.

"Please don't take this the wrong way," Mireille said, drawing a breath before plunging ahead. "Do you... need any help, getting what Aesop needs? I mean, like you said, he was completely unexpected, just like Jules was for me, and I know that it's all a little mindboggling yet." She forced herself to stop when she realized the words were coming a little faster with each breath, and flushed deeply.
Julien nodded, helping Aesop as he could before offering the boy a smile. "When they get us more comfortable clothes, I'm sure it'll be easier to keep them on," he assured Aesop, before hopping up. "I have something neat I can show you," he added, heading to the windowsill, where sat a large orb of golden glittering glass. Picking it up with careful hands, he carried it over to put into Aesop's lap. "It's a lightcatcher."

Cindy's smile turned into a grin as Mir continued on. And when she finished, a little giggle slipped out. "Oh, don't you worry about me." Cindy started. "You see, when my Grandmother passed away, she left me most of her money..." Her grin turned back into a small smile. She really didn't like thinking about how her grandmother had left for a better place.. "I've been trying not to use it, so I could let the interest grow. But I do believe that she would've wanted me to spend it on her Great-grandchild." It was a weird thing to pop out of her mouth... But she was sure that was how Grandma would see him. Just another child that needed love. "She was... The only one who actually realized what was happening... And I think she knew that I needed to get out of there as soon as possible..."
As Julien sat the bright orb of color in his lap, Aesop's eyes lit up. His hands graced over the orb carefully. "What a beautiful treasure you have. Did Miss Mireille give it to you?"

Mireille relaxed as Cindy smiled, one hand lifting in a purely feminine gesture to rest against her chest, just between her breasts. "Oh good," she breathed, then blinked and stammered, "I don't mean good that... I... you know what I do mean, right?" she finished, ducking her head. Certain she'd managed to fit at least few toes in her mouth, if not her whole foot, she fell silent.
Julien nodded, moving to sit down beside Aesop again. "She gave it to me while I was still an egg. When the sun is in the right place in the sky, it comes in through that window and catches in the orb, and the sparkles go all over the room," he shared, eyes dancing around as though he might catch sight of a few, despite the orb not even being in position.

"Of course." Cindy responded quickly so Mir wouldn't get frazzled. "Don't you worry. There are very few things you could do on accident to make me mad or upset." She offered a reassuring smile. "It's been awhile since I've had a friend who actually offered to help me. So, thank you."
"How cheerful!" He said, amused by the object's purpose. "I was gifted with a book before my hatching. I haven't actually gotten to read it yet, but Mother... Er, Cindy.." He wasn't sure what to call her. He wanted to call her Mother... But he didn't want her to feel more awkward about it.. Like she had the first time he used that word. "She told me lovely things about it."

Mir relaxed as Cindy remained calm, offering the younger girl a grateful smile. "It's been a while since I had any friends other than Robin," she admitted. "If I can help, I'm certainly glad to. I'd like to have you and Aesop over often, too? Julien certainly seems to have taken to him, and it's good to talk to another girl again." Funny, how hearing Cindy mention being friends somehow made it okay to really believe in the word.
"A book? What sorts of stories are there in it?" Julien asked immediately, his eyes bright. "Maybe you can bring it over sometime and read some to me?"

"I'd love to come over to your house more often. It's so nice out here." She thought about inviting Mir over to her house sometime... But that probably wasn't the best idea. "I'd invite you over to my house... But it's not much of a house." She chuckled. Not only that, but it was sort of messy..."
"Oh, stories about animals personified. It's a big book with pretty illustrations." At the question of bringing it over, Aesop could only smile. "I'd like to bring it over and read it to you sometime." That actually excited him. To read and someone listen to him. Like he was some sort of teacher.

"I wouldn't mind seeing it sometime," Mireille countered gently. "But only if you're comfortable with the idea. Moving to pull out a bag of cookies and start arranging them on a plate, Mireille looked at Cindy. "I don't want you to be uncomfortable with us."
"That sounds really good," Julien said, nodding avidly. He liked the idea of Aesop reading to him, really... particularly given that the boy seemed to also like the idea a lot. "Maybe we could take some supplies and make some puppets, and makea skit out of one for Cindy and Mireille," he suggested, eyes sparkling.
