And I know a lot of people don't know this 'cause like EVERYONE ******** up their first maple account - but you NEED TO FOLLOW A BUILD. Meru maybe you should have a post for that or something, I can type up first job build guides rly quick.

Tip for anyone creating a new character: Do the tutorial and stay in there training on the monsters there until level 5-6. They don't do damage and you don't use pots and you won't waste exp on quest rewards when killing is easier.
Assuming everyone is UNFUNDED.

Magician:
You want to roll your character stats with a FOUR or FIVE in DEX and STR. That means the rest of the numbers will be in INT and LUK and you're going to even those out as they need to be so the numbers in them don't really matter.

Once on maple island you want to add all your Ability Points into INT until INT is at 20, and then add into LUK only until LUK is 3 higher than your level. So if you're level 8, LUK is 11. If you're level 55, LUK is 58. After you get INT to 20 and LUK to 3 higher than your level, you want to keep LUK there and add everything else into INT. So you'll be adding 1 point into LUK and 4 into INT every level. For Skill points, you want to get Nimble Feet maxed, and add 1 or 2 points into 3 snails and the rest into recovery. You want to kill a shitton of snails, and green will be easiest to kill so I suggest keeping 3 snails at level 1 and have level 2 recovery.
So then at level 8 become a magician obviously. You talk to Grendell the Really Old in Ellinia.
The skill point build for 8-30 should go AS FOLLOWS:
Level 8: +1 Energy Bolt
Level 9: +3 Improving MP Recovery
Level 10: +2 Improving MP Recovery, +1 Improving Max MP Increase
Level 11: +3 Improving Max MP Increase
Level 12: +3 Improving Max MP Increase
Level 13: +3 Improving Max MP Increase (MAX)
Level 14: +3 Improving MP Recovery
Level 15: +3 Improving MP Recovery
Level 16: +3 Improving MP Recovery
Level 17: +2 Improving MP Recovery (MAX), +1 Magic Claw
Level 18: +3 Magic Claw
Level 19: +3 Magic Claw
Level 20: +3 Magic Claw
Level 21: +3 Magic Claw
Level 22: +3 Magic Claw
Level 23: +3 Magic Claw
Level 24: +1 Magic Claw (MAX), +2 Magic Guard
Level 25: +3 Magic Guard

You want to follow that exactly because if you don't it can ******** you up hardcore. Keep LUK 3 higher than your level and INT as high as possible.

At 30 go back and talk to Grendell to get 2nd job. Magicians can become Clerics which can heal their HP and people in their party's HP but have s**t damage, Fire/Poison Wizards which do Fire/Poison based attacks and can kick Ice based monsters asses, or Ice/Lightning Wizards which do Ice/Lightning based attacks and can kick Fire based monsters asses.


THIEVES:
Roll a 4 or 5 in INT and STR. Doesn't matter what LUK and DEX are because you'll add as much into those as you need to make them right.

Once on maple island you want to add DEX to 25, and then add everything to LUK. Everything. biggrin You're going to want to keep DEX exactly double your level, which means at level 13 you'll start adding to DEX again. After 13 you'll always be adding 2 DEX and 3 LUK every level.

It's really your choice what to max for beginner skills on maple island. Nimble Feet won't be so useful after first job because you'll get haste which is a thousand times better. Three snails will be useful because you don't have the best control attack, but you can get by without it. Recovery is useful but if you want snails and nimble more, it isn't. xD

So at level 10 go talk to the Thief Lord in Kerning. He'll be underneath the Fashion Jazz bar.

The Skill Build for Thieves differs for Bandits and Assassins, so I'll tell you about those.
Bandits use Daggers and attack close range. You'll use a shitton of pots but it IS cheaper than a sin.
Assassins use a claw one one of their hands that throws stars or knives from long range at monsters. Stars get REALLY expensive if you want good ones. Close range attack is a low damage punch with your claw.

The Bandit build for first job is as follows:
Level 10: 1 Double Stab(1)
Level 11: 3 Double Stab(4)
Level 12: 3 Double Stab(7)
Level 13: 3 Double Stab(10)
Level 14: 3 Double Stab(13)
Level 15: 3 Double Stab(16)

Alternate Stat Builds:
You only want to do these if you're HELLA bored and HELLA FUNDED.

Lukless mages:
Roll 4/5 in LUK STR AND DEX. Which takes forever so you can live with a bit higher LUK. xD Basically you don't add anything into LUK so you have a higher attack. You're going to wear Lith Harbor clothes until 20 when you want a bathrobe from sauna in Showa. You're going to want to scroll that for int like a ********. Keep buying robes until you get a decently scrolled one. That's hella expensive. At 35 you're going to use a Maple Wand, 43 you'll use a Maple Llama Staff, and at 64 a Shine wand or Wisdom Staff.

Dexless Sins:
You're going to want to roll the lowest you can in STR and INT. Wearing Lith Harbor clothes till bathrobe at 20 which you're going to scroll the s**t out of. Sauna robe at 30 if you want. Wear a Brown Bamboo hat and speed shoes from hen at 26 and Snowshoes at 30. Gonna need 25 in Dex tho. You're going to use a Garnier and it's alright to scroll it with 100% att scrolls. xD And then Maple Claw at 35 and Kandayo at 43 and Skanda at 64.

Roll to get 4 or 5 on INT and LUK and STR and DEX can be anything

As you are leveling put all your AP into DEX to get it to 25. After that put points into STR. STR has to be your level +5. Lvl 10 = 15 STR 20=25 STR and so on. Basically you will be adding 1 point into STR and 4 into DEX every level after 10.

At 10 head to Victoria Island and go to Henesys, in the Mushroom Park area and head all the way to the right to a building where your job instructor is.

After getting the job advancement SP should go as the following.

Do not max Arrow Blow, no point whatsoever with future skills. Eye of the Amazon is best to max first since it increases attack range. This is the guide I used. You can change up Critical Shot and Double shot if you like. I ran through arrows pretty fast so I saw no point in maxing Double Shot first when I could get Critical shot and increase my chances on a deadly hit.
