"No clue." Cindy quickly responded, the egg once again being placed in her lap. She wrapped it back up in the scarf and leaned back. "With my childish thinking, I thought it'd be a dragon or something." Her hand reached up for the tophat and carefully took it off. The other hand was used to straighten her blonde hair from the dreaded hat head.
"It quickly corrected me and said 'Ash'." Of course, she had no idea that there was an 'e' on the end of it. "I was puzzling about what that could be this morning when I woke up. Since I'm on the mythical creature train, I thought 'well, maybe a pheonix since they're reborn from ashes'..."
"But, the wings don't fit. And why the heck are wings floating around the egg anyways?" That's when she remembered something.
"You said you found something similar, right?" She asked, waiting to hear Mireielle's own story.

"Mine's not as spectacular as yours," Mireille immediately denied, shaking her head, though in her heart, she knew that to herself, at least, that wasn't true. "It doesn't talk or anything, but the wings float around it a bit. It doesn't have these dragonish wings, though," she added, toying with a corner of her quilt. "The wings are like a bird's, all feathered and pure white."
Ash... ash... why did that bother her? After a moment, she realized. "It smells of ashes, though. Like an old, dead fire, really. The smell was strong enough last night that I lit a candle near it."

Cindy blinked and tilted her head somewhat. Not as spectacular? These things were amazing. And she was sure that seeing another one, she'd probably flip over it like she did hers. But what really caught her attention was the fact it had different wings. Bird wings, dragon wings. Oh, she made the connection alright. "... Good and evil?" She questioned, her eyes widening. She wasn't stupid. She'd read enough comics, seen enough pictures, to know that different wings often pointed to the conflicting forces that people thought were secretly battling among us.
But... Her egg didn't seem evil. "Hm." She thought about it for a moment before responding to the ash comment. "I noticed the night I picked it up. The rain didn't even manage to wash the smell away."
Which made her realize that by the end of the day, she'd probably smell just like it. Ah well.
"So... How'd you come across yours?" Now she was curious. Certain things added up, and others just fell right through the cracks.

"I think it's dangerous to label them good and evil at this point," Mireille chided, though she'd had similar thoughts. "We don't know enough about them to know what they are." She sighed, then unwrapped some of her new quilt, showing it to Cindy. "Actually, I found it in this. It was tucked under some of the quilt, and when I opened the quilt up enough to see it, the clerk seemed to think it was mine." She paused, then blushed, looking away as she rewrapped the dark fabric. "...I didn't exactly correct her."

"Just a thought that went through my head." Cindy carefully sat the tophat on her knee and quickly looked at the quilt as she showed it off. "Not bad." She commented on the quilt with a nod, then realized she was showing her for different reasons.
"Huh. That's... Quite different from the way I found mine." She commented, stating the obvious. She couldn't help but giggle at her last comment, though. "Honestly, I would've done the same thing." She tried to assure her with a smile.
She was kinda wishing she could see this other egg now. Curiosity was getting the best of her, as it usually did. Perhaps the people who accused her of thinking she was a cat weren't as far off as she would've liked.

"I don't know what I'm going to do about it. I mean, I don't even know what will hatch out of it," Mireille muttered, her eyes back on Cindy's egg. "Wish I could meet someone who knows what it is." She sighed, reaching up to scratch at the back of her neck before rising slowly to her feet. "I should probably get back and check it, really. If it is alive... I've got to figure out what it needs."

"You and me both.." Cindy nodded. Was there someone out there who knew about these things? Oh, she could only hope. And if there was, she hoped they were somewhere close by.
Her eyes followed Mireille as she stood. "Hold on a second." She commented, her hand reaching in her pocket. The other arm that wasn't currently digging secured the tophat and the egg from falling. "If you find anything out..." her eyes focused as she seemed to find what she was looking for. The hand retreated, pulling a piece of paper out along with it. It was... A card?
"Here." She offered it to Mireille. "It's got my cellphone and any other means of contact. You're the only person I've met with one of these things... So I figured keeping in touch is a good idea."

Mireille blinked, then flushed a soft pink as she took the card, tucking it into one pocket of her purse before rummaging a bit through another part. "Um... no, no that's not... here!" she managed after a moment, triumphantly pulling a card from the depths of her purse. "It's a little beaten up, but it has my office number on it, at least." She offered a smile as she handed it over. "Sorry I didn't think to give it to you sooner. If you get some idea of how to care for these... let me know?"

Cindy returned the smile to her new acquaintance and carefully took the card. "Don't worry about it. I'll make sure to give you a call if anything comes up."
She carefully tossed on her tophat and stood next to the woman. "It was a pleasure speaking with you." And that was the honest truth. What little knowledge she did acquire about these things was better than still being in the dark over some issues.
"Take care and..." She almost hesitated with the last part. "Be careful."
The egg also gave it's goodbyes, one wing giving a small twitch in Mir's general direction.

Mireille smiled wryly, a faint shadow in her eyes as she countered, "I think I should be telling you that. Try not to get on any more trees' bad side, hmm?" She looked down at the egg, hesitantly lifting a hand to wave to it briefly before looking back at Cindy, her cheeks a warm red again as she dropped her hand. "I'll give you a call if anything in particular happens to mine, okay? Hopefully, whatever happens, we'll be able to help each other out."

"Haha.. Ahaha.. Hah.." Cindy gave a sarcastic laugh with a smile. "I'll have to keep that in mind. No more rude gestures at trees that happen to shake their branches at me."
She hid the grin she felt as Mir waved to her egg. "I'll make sure to return the favor." Cindy said with a soft nod, then turned around towards the rest of the mall, her feet beginning to move on their own. "Be seeing you!" She called out and waved a hand back toward her. There was shopping to be done.

Mireille watched her go, then settled her bag back on her arm, her own steps a little lighter as she turned back to her car. It felt good, really, to know that she wasn't alone through all this, even if she barely knew the girl. As she reached her car, her thoughts turned to her own egg, tucked at home with a diffuser of vanilla oil nearby masking the ashy scent. Maybe things would work out better than she worried...
