She grinned at Teles.

"Extremely," she said smugly and then slapped her tail at the water, sending another wave Teles's way. Tael grinned at Teles but, slowly, the grin started to fall. She turned away and hauled herself out of the water. She shook herself, sending water droplets flying and then sat down roughly.

It wasn't working. The guilt that Taelence had tried so hard to push back was rearing its ugly head again. She had hoped that the run would have put it out of her mind; that she could just leave it behind. But guilt was a heavy weight, one her mind wasn't built to hold for very long. Teles had come out for a day of fun and Tael was going to ruin it.

"Goddess, Teles," she said as large tears began to fall from her eyes. She couldn't look at her bestfriend. "Don't hate me. Please, please don't hate me. I don't know what I'd do without you."

The tears came thickly now. But she couldn't stop herself. Teles deserved to know the truth.

Teles shrieked with laughter at the splash of water before flinging her tail like a catapult to send a spray of water over her head at Tael. She smirked back at her friend, her own expression dropping quickly to a worried one as she scrambled out of the water after Taelence, shaking herself quickly to rid herself of most of the water.

"Taelence..?" She murmured, worriedly padding up to sit near her friend, lightly nosing at her shoulder to offer what little comfort she could. "I couldn't hate you, Tael. I...love you, you're my friend. What's troubling you so much?"

Teles was becoming distressed. She didn't know what to think. What had been eating away at her...making her think that Teles - of all foxes - could hate...and leave her? The idea, to Teles, was absurd. She crouched down lightly before laying upon her stomach, curling her tail around her friend.

'Oh, Tael...what happened?'

Taelence snuffed, trying to blink back tears. Teles's tail was warm around her, but she wasn't sure that she deserved the comfort.

"It should be one of the happiest things in my life. But it's also full of pain, and I feel like I've led you on," she needed to say it now, before she lost her courage. Teles deserved the truth. Say it. Tears ran harder down her face. "I chose Chocolate as my mate. It just...happened, before I could really sit and think about it. I wanted it to happen. But I know that my choice hurts you. And I feel like a total b***h because I couldn't give you both what you wanted. I had to choose. And I hate myself for it."

Taelence hung her head and let the tears run through her fur. Teles could do what she wanted with her now, and Tael would take it. She deserved it. What a mess she made of things.

What Taelence just admitted was absorbed very, very slowly. It hurt, she could admit, but there was a veil of numbness...as though she was having a dream and the hurt wasn't quite real. It just hadn't set in. Maybe it was a good thing, though, because it allowed Teles to deal with the situation from a distance...and realize that first and foremost, Tael needed reassurance that - despite Teles' own feelings for the beautiful fox - she had done the right thing.

"Oh, Tael, love..." She cooed, gently nuzzling her friend's face, doing her best to wipe away the tears before finally resorting to licking them away. "If it was something you did without thinking, because you wanted it, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you love this fox, Chocolate, and he loves you, then that's all that matters at the end of the day."

"Oh, please...don't beat yourself up over it, hun." There were tears shimmering in her own eyes, moreso because of her own emotions at seeing her friend so distressed than at her own pain. "There's nothing wrong with taking something for yourself... Some spark of happiness that's just for you. And don't ever let anyone take it away, not me, not even yourself. ...but what do you mean, you couldn't give both of us what we wanted? In choosing Chocolate, didn't you give him and yourself what you both wanted?"

She nosed at her friend firmly, coaxing her to lay down on the sweet grass to let her fur dry out and the sun warm her fur once again. There were no boundaries set, as far as Teles knew, about them at least laying together on the grass. If such boundaries were to come...well, Teles didn't know what she'd do...but she couldn't dwell on that now. Her friend had obviously beaten herself up over her decision for a while now, and Teles wanted to show her that she understood, even if the news was a sharp blow...even if it was numbed from shock right now.

Taelence allowed Teles to push her down into the grass. But Teles could lick her tears away all she wanted; they would still flow.

"I mean you and Cho. My heart is split two ways, but..." these words hurt the most to say. "I can't see my life without him."

Tael was sobbing now. She couldn't help it. This hurt too much.

"If I could save you from this pain Teles, I would. I do love you. I think you're the most beautiful female I've met. But, the connection I have with you...it just doesn't run as deep as it does with Cho. I feel it in my soul," she gulped. "But as much as I love Cho, I can't see my life without you either. Maybe not in the same capacity, but I don't know what I'd do if you weren't here with me."

Taelence looked away and almost gagged from what she was about to say.

"I understand if you can't ever see me again. If it hurts too much...I get it. I'll stay away. This isn't something I can help, but if going away will make it better, then I will. I just want you to be happy."
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 2:14 pm

Teles nodded slowly, the beginnings of her own tears leaking from her eyes. There was a hard lump in her throat, one she didn't think she could speak around just yet, so she let Taelence continue on, letting her friend get out what she needed to...

And yet, she still felt her heart breaking, whether it was because realization set in, or just because Tael's sobs were so crushing. She nuzzled close to the white fox, nuzzling her way against Tael's side, letting her damp fur take in her own tears as well.

"Oh, Tael--" Her voice cracked for a moment, and she took a shuddering breath before trying to speak again. "I don't want you to go away...not ever. That would hurt me more than you being happy with Chocolate ever could. I want...want to be truthful, though. I might disappear for a couple days, but I want you to know, Tael, it's just because I need to sort myself out and deal with what I'm feeling. But I will be back. I couldn't leave you alone." Her tone grew fierce there, so she could push away any of Tael's doubts before it softened again as she carried on.

"And...I don't think I could ever stop loving you...so I want you to know, too...that if you ever need me, or if something ever happens...or...or anything, really, th-that I'm here for you...'kay?"

She put a paw on her friend's shoulders as she buried her muzzle against Tael's neck, her own shoulders starting to heave as she struggled to keep her sobs at bay and breathe through them.

Taelence curled up against Teles. Screw what Cho might think about this. They needed each other, even if they couldn't be together.

Tael let out a hysterical laugh that ended up in more tears.

"Look at us," she said, letting out another laugh. "What a mess." she felt Tele's tears leaking into her fur and she hicupped.

Whether Taelence wanted to believe it or not, both of their hearts were damaged now. Tael's because she was happy and hated herself because she was happy and Teles's because the fox she loved was with another.

Tael could never make this fully right, but she would support Teles as long as she would let her.

"There will be someone Teles, who will love you, more than I ever can. And I will be so jealous and I will hate that fox so much, but I'll be happy for both of you, because you'll be made for each other," She whispered into Teles's fur. "And this will all just be a bad dream, a horrible nightmare."

"I'll always be there for you. I will always protect you. And I will always love you, even if I can't be with you. And it's ok to bawl your bloody eyes out," she said with a slight smile in her voice.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 2:55 pm

Teles whimpered softly and pinned her ears upon her head a moment, squeezing her eyes tightly shut in an attempt to quell her tears, relaxing them somewhat at Tael's bark of laughter. She cracked a smile at her remark, and brought her face out of Tael's fur, scrubbing at her face furiously with her paws.

She didn't know what to say to Tael's remark that someone would come around to love her, but decided that silence, for now, would be fine. "Oh, Tael... I just want you to be happy for yourself right now... I'll be fine. Time does heal all wounds...and it'll heal them faster because we still l-l-love each other...and that's really what counts...right?"

She looked up at her friend with her dark blue eyes, turbulent as the sea for the moment, but filled not only with sadness, but love for her friend, too.

She let out a wry cuckle. "I'd like to meet your Chocolate...eventually. Maybe after I come back, if that's alright?" She murmured, before adding quickly. "But I don't plan on going anywhere right now, or today... I think we need each other right now...and it would be completely cruel if I were to leave now..."

A couple more tears leaked from her eyes, seeming to start up in a steady flow. She shuffled close to her friend, resting her head on her paws...the right with a patten and the left a soft, solid charcoal.

Taelence hicupped again.

"Of course that's what matters," she said firmly. The love would never be the same but it would still be there. "I'd like for you to meet Cho. When you're ready. He's a good guy, not the type to rub something in somebody's face, so...he'll...behave." she shook her head when Teles talked of leaving. She didn't like it, but she understood.

"I want to give you a proper send off when you...leave," Tael said, tears falling from her eyes in fresh waves. "There shouldn't be bad blood between us when you do." Taelence covered Teles's marked paw with her own. "I don't know what I'll do without you Teles." she said quietly. "Do you promise to come back?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 3:40 pm

Tael was talking about giving her a proper send off...when she was only going to be gone a few days. The thought had her cracking up, and she giggled through her tears.

"Oh, Tael... I'd only be gone for two, three days. Maybe four at the absolute most...and I'd rather come back to something, 'cause being back together is more worth celebrating than sending me off for a few days. And don't be silly!" She admonished, bumping at her friend sharply with her nose. "I couldn't stand to stay away from here and you for more than a few days. Like I said, it would just be so I could sort myself out."

She glanced down at Tael's paw and gave it a soft little nuzzle before blinking back her tears as she looked up at her friend. She didn't know what else she could do or say to make Tael feel more at ease...would it have been better to just not mention her leaving at all..?

'Never. She'd think I would have run off...and I don't want to hurt her...' She thought vehemently, berating herself for the very thought of slinking off to lick her wounds without telling her.

"And...if I don't come back within four days, then something might have happened, and I might need a bit of help... But I don't think that'll happen. I'll be fine...and definitely will be back within four days, Tael."

She blinked slowly and scrubbed away some more of her tears with her free paw, attempting a small smile at her friend before she nuzzled close with a shuddering sigh, attempting to staunch the rest of her tears...this time with a bit more success.

Taelence nodded and began to relax slightly, though she couldn't stop a few tears from slipping out.

Teles was hurt, that was obvious and to be expected, but she wasn't going to leave forever. Taelence couldn't have handled that. Things were a mess, but time would help to sort things out. She needed a couple of days with Cho, because as much as she needed Teles, she also needed Cho and his opinion would be a great help. He was such a calm thinker and with her thoughts as scattered as they were, she needed a rock of common sense right now.

She sighed.

"We'll work this out Teles. We have to," she frowned at Teles's slight hesitance about something maybe happening to her, but she let it go. If Teles said she would be back in four days then, by the Heavens, she would be back in four days.

. o O ( Crimson, I officially dub Taelence and Teles' song to be "Come" ...by Amuro Namie; it's from Inu Yasha, so I think you'll know what I'm talking about. 8D )

Teles smiled lightly at her friend and nodded ever-so-softly. "Of course we will, hun. We've almost worked all of it out, now we just have to feel better about the way things are and be happy...then everything will be f-fine~"

Bumping her friend lightly, the still damp fox sat up and trotted a couple paces away to shake herself briskly to rid herself of the rest of the water that was dripping from her fur. Feeling somewhat lighter, she turned and paced back to Tael, ears flopping about somewhat due to her rather low mood. Still, she curled up next to Tael and proceeded to lick her tail dry, smoothing the fur back in place before suddenly shifting to lick at Tael's face with a half-grin.

"Com'on...Tael. Mmff... Smile f'r...mmf...me~"

Taelence did Teles one better. She laughed joyously as Teles licked her fur into place.

"Teles!! Stop!!" She cried out, not meaning a word of it. Teles could straighten her fur out for as long as she wanted. But she wrestled herself from the charcoal colored vixen and pounced on her. Then she proceeded to give Teles the same treatment.

"Now, now Teles," Tael said as her friend struggled and laughed. "Don't deal it out if you can't take it in return!"

Teles might have been leaving, but the normal feeling of contentment was back in place. Almost as if the horrible conversation had never happened. And all Taelence could feel was relief that Teles wasn't abandoning her.

(you need to look in Tael's journal. there's a song set up there just for Teles. it's so sweet.

but yes i do know what you're talking about xDDD)

. o O ( Awwww, that's just sweet. <3 )

Teles, being the fox she was, merely ignored Tael's orders to stop, but instead managed to get a good portion of her friend's fur put back into place. She was wondering whether there would be any retaliation or whether she'd just sit and enjoy it when she laughed and started her true attempt to get away. Teles grinned in spite of herself. Goodness, it was good to hear that laugh again.

"Eee~!" She shrieked as she toppled over from her friend's attempts. The next thing she knew, she was sprawled on her stomach with Tael perched upon her back. "Taaaaeeeel~!"

It was a whine, but one of amusement. She chuckled and wriggled her ears about at Tael attempted cleaning them and clawed at the ground, trying to get away. If she'd been serious about escape, she would have ripped up clumps of grass and sand...but because it was only in play, she seemed to scramble in place.

"Ooooh, Taelence, I'mma get'chuu..." She growled, this time struggling in earnest to get her four paws beneath her so she could stand. "An' when I get'chuu, I'mma give you such a lickin'~!"

Shaking her body before shoving herself to the side in a half-roll, she dislodged her friend and leapt upon her, vigorously licking her cheeks and neck before nipping at her ear and pausing, looking down at Tael with a very wide, very smug, grin. She puffed out her chest somewhat in a kooky, mock-cocky pose, tail swishing arrogantly behind herself.

Lifting a paw to her face, she set about washing it with an imperious air. "How'd you get down there, dearie~?"

Taelence grunted and laughed as Teles rolled away and then attacked her. She eyed the charcoal fox with a mock fierce look and growled at her.

"I do believe that I am here because you are a horrible, sneaky vixen whom needs to be booted off of her pedestal," Tael said as she threw her weight against her friend sending them both rolling around the clearing, laughing their heads off. When they finally broke apart, both needed a good brushing and perhaps another dunk in the pool.

Taelence looked up at Teles with her 'I have a bad notion' look.

"I'm hungry," she said. "Mind going a catching us some little fishies?" And with that she pushed Teles back into the pool. Before Teles could drag her in, Tael took a running leap and jumped in after her.

"Oh, I'm sorry dearie," she said grinning at her again soaked friend and spouting water out of her mouth. "But you looked like you could use a bath."
