Herei sighed softly and shook his head. Why was Nat so determined to turn his game back on him? Couldn't he see he was just trying to exercise his train of thought, a little? He ruffled his black hair and watched Nat intently while he mulled over an appropriate answer. "Don't you think you're a little young to be dissecting aliens?" he replied. After all, he was only in basic learning. Alien corpses should probably go to real scientists. Not young boys.
"Besides. Having an alien for you to study would require us to actually capture one." Herei wasn't sure how a small team of teachers would go about catching an alien. And keeping one was probably not safe. Who's to say the alien wouldn't learn from them, too?

A little young? Pride almost prompted him to answer to that, but he was not so prideful that he would forget himself or his manners. Critically speaking, the Adviser was completely correct. He was far too young. Barely a student, not even given a designated school yet. No uniform. No status. Not much of anything at all. There were no teachers and no lessons. Just these self-taught classes. He could not argue, and to do so would be childish. He supposed that was correct, but he still wanted to know how they were to defeat something they knew so very little about. It seemed that the aliens had no problems at all decimating the human society. Which, needless to say, Nathaniel highly frowned upon.
"So then all I can do is learn from what I have, and this will save the world?" he asked curiously. There was no trace of arrogance in it. None whatsoever. Merely he wanted to show that he actually did have a concern about the world, true or not. And perhaps learn a little more about the school and it's purpose. To learn complicated things at so young an age, and then to grow up and prepare for a war with an unknown species? It was all a little strange. Then again, so was the whole world. So Nat would just have to accept the situation for now. He would learn. Develop all new biochemical weapons to use. And maybe it could be good enough.

Herei nodded. "Learn from the past, or history is bound to repeat itself." Learning was the best thing the boy could do! The more they could learn, the better off they were. They could hone their skills, and someday, the boys would be saviors. Herei had absolute faith in the students chosen. All of them. "And I think you might find it useful to band together with your classmates."
"But, if you'll excuse me, I'm afraid I have some paperwork to take care of. If you need anything, please feel free to stop by my office!"
And with that, the Adviser was gone.

For a moment, Nathaniel listened to the words of wisdom that this man felt necessary to bestow upon him, and then he nodded. Yes, that all seemed very well and appropriate. Isn't that how most humans made their mistakes? History always did repeat itself in one way or another. But this alien attack had to be a new thing entirely. And then there was the idea of 'banding' together with his fellow 'classmates'. That was the sort of concept he really didn't like. They would just be in his way.
But he listened respectfully, and then as soon as the other had stopped and offered future assistance, he was gone. And so, at last, Nathaniel finally returned to his notes and the lesson that would take him yet another hour...
