Uhai had yet to decide he might need practice, might need some lessons and take some time to make observations of other hunters. Right now, the cub was having fun chasing others around (especially when they were around his own skill level) and not worrying about it. He was to big-headed to worry.
He stifled a chuckle when Palahala reared and bounded away, finding this little addition quite amusing and not yet cluing in that it mean he'd been practicing.
Scrambling at first, he bolted after his brother, trying to follow all of his weaving- which slowed him down quite a bit. Realizing how slow he was going (by noticing how far ahead Pala got), he straightened his path and tried to judge where Pala would go next instead of following directly.

The young goddling felt quite proud of himself, he had taken techniques he had watched the antelope do and used them himself in this game of tag. A smile in fact started to spread across his maw as he felt the distance widen between him and his brother. He was going to escape!
His chest swelled with pride as he took another leap only to find himself stumbling. he had seen this happen too, this was how his friends were caught, they stepped a foot wrong and they fell, they slipped on loose stones or soil.
Fear washed over him as he attempted to scramble to his feet once again waiting for the pounce upon his back. If he could just get to his feet in time he could be away! before his brother closed the gap too much for him to regain his distance.

Uhai was alert, was paying as much attention as a cub could hope to pay. He was not happy with being outdone, he was too competitive- he would be more impressed with Pala's improvement if he could somehow take credit for it, and he couldn't. So he had to catch his brother, otherwise he lost and that wasn't any fun. He was watching Pala carefully and was just about ready to bolt at an angle to try to catch up with him when suddenly his brother stumbled-- which appeared catch them both off guard.
"Better run, Pala!" he called as he did his best to redirect his movement to a path right after his brother, feeling a rush of excitement at his chance to catch up. It made it harder to judge his own ability, his distance and for the ill-practiced hunter to remain calm. Hoping to take his chance, leaping for his brother.

Alas, he knew he couldn't get to his paws in time, the dip he had fallen in to was small but large enough to cause his hooves to scramble, despite having paws to help him, he couldn't grip to get himself up. So closing his eyes he waited for the pounce.
fear screamed in the back of his mind that he was about to get eaten, but there was no way his parents would let that happen, would they?
he licked his lips nervously, scrunching himself in to as tight a ball as possible, maybe Uhai would miss with his pounce if he made himself as small as possible? How small could a god cub get though?
He was resigned to his fate, he was destined to be pounced today, but one day he would learn how to get to his paws and hooves quickly and Uhai would never catch him, he was sure of it, one day.

Leaping at a poorly chosen angle, Uhai was aimed pretty close to his brother's horns when he pounced. Fortunately, his poor judgment in all of the excitement saved him and he fell short- short of being impaled but not short enough for Pala to get away. Front paws landing roughly and awkwardly on Pala's back and wings, Uhai almost stumbled- and he extended his claws, both to stabilize himself and declare his victory.
"Gotcha!" he cried, using his brother as a step to make himself seem taller, standing proudly over his catch. Now, of course, the game had been fun. Because he won! Pala almost escaping made it sound more difficult, as though it were a greater feat to have caught him now. He could leave out the stumbling part.
Yes, Uhai was obnoxious even in his own mind.

Palahala opened his eyes and looked up at Uhai. His soft brown eyes were wide but the paws and claws that touched him didn't break his skin, no scent of blood came to his nose. He pushed upwards Okay Uhai, you caught me" he umphed and flopped back down.
"Cmon let me up." he mumbles, looking up at his brother pleadingly, you won already" he pouts.

Uhai beamed and hopped back from his brother when he said he won- admitting defeat was probably the easiest way to get him to back off. He didn't have any intention to cause any real harm in his young mind, he was more concerned with having fun.
"Ahaha, still can't beat me, Pala!" he taunted cheerily, skipping back a couple steps.

Palahala sighed and gave a slow nod "Yes Uhai, I know" He sighed heavily and clambered to his paws and hooves once again. He looked up at the sky, he knew one day he would outrun his brother, he had to believe it.
"We should get home mum will be wondering where we are." He turned then and hopped off through the grass taking a steadier pace than before, he needed more practice at his bounding but not today, today it had failed him and uhai had won again.
