Woodwinds are better (Duh!!!) Bcuz they have great sound and volume. Trumpets have 3 volumes: Loud, louder, and ear blowing. We have a ton of trumpets in out band so they sadly over power all of the good instruments. sad . Anyways, Brass sucks since the can't control they're volume or blasting. Clarinets rule

Trombones sound like farts, tubas sound like really low farts, trumpets are just retarded (at least at my school) and baritones just dont fit in anywhere at all

Woodwinds (and french horn to some extent, its like the red-headed stepchild or something) are polite, mellow, nice, and not farting...

strings are pretty cool too! (goooooOOOOOO VIOLA!!!)

if brass farts... where does that put bassoons?

i am sorry brass.woodwinds are better i play clarinet.no offense but at my school the gms brass are to quiet they are terrible

Woodwinds are definitely better. I play bass clarinet, and in my experience, pretty much everyone who plays brass are obnoxious and rude guys who don't take anything about band seriously.

I'm insulted...

1. I'm a GIRL!!!

2. I'm not obnoxious...though I can be mildly annoying...

3. I take band QUITE seriously.

As for why brass are better than woodwinds...

1. You can actually HEAR us in marching band

2. We don't make people's eardrums explode because we are playing high screechy notes like the piccolos do!

3. We don't squeak

4. LOW BRASS KICKS a**!!!

5. We're stronger, since we have to actually hold our horns up in marching band (note: this comment is not aimed at flutes, since your shoulders look like they're about to be ripped off during flat circle drills)

6. Only bad players sound like crap. The good ones (including myself) sound really good.

7. There is nothing more awesome than a kikckin jazz trumpet solo

8. We actually have spines, unlike the clarinets that complain that they can't hold their instruments up while marching

9. We don't have wussy little neckstraps

10. Our instruments are shinier

11. We don't have to completely re-tune every time we take our instrument out

12. You can actually hear us when we speak, since brass people tend to speak louder than woodwinds

13. You cheat and try to steal the french horns/mellophones

14. You're thieves and try to steal the french horns/mellophones

15. Trumpet players are the best kissers (sorry had to add this XD)

16. *joke* Wait, scratch that; french horns are the best kissers (but they sure do hold you funny XD)

17. We have a sense of humor

18. We can keep time

19. No dippy "deed-dle-lad-dle"s for us

20. Though woodwinds were the first wind instruments, brass were the first to be truly "perfected".

21. We can play in the rain without destroying our instruments

22. Brass is just awesome

I can EASILY hear woodwinds in marching band.

Piccolos are pretty bad, lol, but loud trumpets are no better on the ears.

The amount of bad players, even at my high school which had lots of good musicians, was still pretty big. Especially French Horn players. French Horns sound TERRIBLE when played wrong, and they are very rarely played right.

Lets go see you march a tenor saxophone without a neckstrap.

I was a trumpet player, I had to hold my trumpet up all of the time... A tenor saxophone was still pretty heavy for me.

I'd say both are awesome, but if I had to chose I'd have to pick woodwinds heart just because they are so much more interesting parts in music.

Woodwinds rule!! lol, our brass section smells, (no offense), BO and they're playing, its too easy to make a bad sound on a brass instrument, but they are fun to hang around. but WW rule! plus (specially flutes and piccolos) are easy to carry around and we can hit really high notes! whoo!

we have a huge WW section, so you can easily hear us.

what ticks me off the most is that brass thinks they're better, and my band calls us wood weenies, because they're instruments are bigger and heavier, and we have smaller instruments that are "easier" to hold up. It is not the size or weight of the instrument (to me) its how you hold it. i can easily hold a tuba or any brass instrument up, because u can see it infront of you and can adjust the angle. on flutes, you cant see your flute angle because it goes out to the side, and is harder to hold up, try holding your arms up for 5 minutes like your holding a flute, your muscles will start to hurt.

Ok,first of all,brass specificly low brass rock because I play tuba,and march sousaphone,and Im good at it.

Second of all, its not the instrument but the person playing it.I happen to play well,as do most others in my band.The bass clairinet squeks on some of the high notes,but she is a good friend of mine.

And overall,its the wind that rock, percussion, is the loud obnoxiuos ridiculous people.

i agree, its not the instrument, its the person playing the intstrument. My twin sister played clarinet, but she's swtiching to tuba this year, and shes very good at both of them.

i side with woodwinds (although brass can be nice too...) ... but brass instruments don't include the double reeds (such as my main instrument: Bassoon), and honestly, nothing is quite as sexy as double reeds...
